I want to try the soap mold that my DH just made for me. I know there is a formula to figure out how much it will hold but can't remember. The mold is 3.5" x 2.75" x 15". I think it was L x W x H then multiply by another number but for the life of me I can't remember. Can anyone help me out here?? :rolleyes2

85% Olive

10% Coconut

5% Castor

That's it plain and simple. The first couple of batches that this happened to did have FO but not this one.

I am one that likes the ash. I use individual molds and leave the ash on them. In my experience, it does not seem like the oils that cause this but the FO or EO.

The batch I did yesterday didn't have any FO or EO. It was only Olive, Coconut and Castor. No color or fragrance. :undecided

Thank you. I will try spraying it and see what happens. My first few batches didn't have it. Then all of the sudden they all do. :undecided Weird.

The last couple batches of soap that I have made CPOP has come out of the mold with a frosty white layer on top. Is this what I have heard called ash? What causes it? I don't really think that I've done anything different as far as the methods that I'm using. :undecided I am trying a few different recipes. Are there certain oils that cause this? I really don't like the way it looks.

Wow, that's weird. I just went to her site and I can't find it now either. I'm really glad that I ordered mine the other day. It is supposed to be here tomorrow. YEAH!!!! I get to soap this weekend.

Don't give up. If you need to quit then I most certainly should. I have made batch after batch and have yet to get a really good swirl. :undecided But, I am determined that I 'WILL' eventually. :rolleyes2 Now, go make some soap.
