What about insurance for those of us who arent selling anything that is wicked? With no fire what kind of insurance would that be? Is there a basic business insurance that isnt the same as those who make wicked candles? I make tarts and wickless. I am making some bath and body products to sell at craft shows too. Wax bears too Where would I start to try and find out what kind of insurance I need and how much of that I need to cover my Biz??? Thanks

I like all the ideas,so keep them coming as soon as it strikes me I will let everyone know. Ok, went to my county clerks office, they did a search and the lady said that there is a name called Country Creations, soooo Country Girl Creations can't...She did say Country Girl can be used, soooo help with another word besides creation,.......

This board is great... ok I kind of narrowed it down to 2 that I like the most;

both of which I am bringing to county clerks office.

Which of the 2 sounds better, cause that will end up being the first checked through my county dba process...

I would love my daughter to be involved even into her adult years but we all know the teenage years can be tough:sad2:

She wants to call her stuff Country Kids, but that is probably cause of my names I am working on.

I know, well I have always lived in the country...and love it. I like things that make one feel 'homey' 'country'. I wanted to make it cover a somewhat wide range because I make a wide variety. I really want to get into doing craft shows,so now it is time to come up with a name....here are some of my ideas (some are kind of lame, so bear with me ) I will admit most have the word country in them, only cause I am stuck with that in my brain...but here goes;

for your labels do you use stick on the outside ones, or do you use card stock weight paper and enclose it inside the clamshell? how much info do you list on label??

Here is what crafts I currently make:

wax dipped bears

tart/melts

wickless candles

bath & body products

recipes in a jar gifts

chocolate dipped spoons(for coffee or hot chocolate)

my craft list continues to grow too....my 8 year old (almost 9) even makes her own line of bath & body products (in special kid approved scents the kid that approved, being herself:yay: ) she of course has my help when needed.

I am looking to come up with a nice "catchy" name, something that would strike one as countryish....possibly something to do with scents/fragrance... :confused: I am coming up with a blank. I want to steer away from using my name...I have my first craft show next week and it would look more professional to have a name....It only takes a short time to do a dba.

I like Bitter Creek, but I actually ordered a few scents from Cierra, they will be here Monday. I ordered them over the weekend and the shipping time is a little longer than the shipping time for Bittercreek So we will see if waiting the extra is worth it or not..... I love all of Bittercreeks scents so far. What are others opinions of their stuff compared to other companies?? Just curious since I was recomended to go through them from a fellow co worker and loved their scents and have been hesitant on branching out to other companies...So what is everyone opinion..(I know they are just opinions, but they do matter to me )

one girl I know dipped the small Mcdonald's beanies and put them in her car as airfreshners. One day she was showing me something in the backend of her vehicle and there one was. It did still smell, and she dipped it almost a year ago. Of course it was short haired and not fluffy but looked cute as an airfreshner.

I use my thermometer to, just attach it to more pour pot with its clip. But I also heat the wax just a tad warmer to compensate for any cooling that may occur.

Do you only want to focus on wicked jar candles? Maybe try tarts or wickless jars, a few less steps in making process, seeing less time allowed to fit it all in...then if they have another time (with more available time limit) then advance their technique to showing them how to do wicked ones. Maybe get the girls interested in a life long hobby by doing different levels with them. Sorry if I didnt help you out, just trying to give you some ideas:smiley2:

So far they smell great. These actually came out of the molds fairly easy...no having to freeze them or anything. Their texture to me looks creamier (so to speak) Will have to post on them in a day or 2 after some cure time.

one more thing, I know haven't I wrote enough:tiptoe: ... but does anyone know if the presto pot we all buy at Wally world is the largest we can get? (without going say, the commercial/industrial route?) Just curious, I haven't seen them any larger but maybe someone else has.:smiley2:

I don't mix any dye in my presto pot for my tarts or wickless candles. I have done some of my scented wax bears in my presto pot . But then I just wipe it clean. Actually this payday I am looking to buy a second one just for my tarts/wickless, one that will never have dye or fo in it for any project. The pour pots are easy to clean in oven. When I use dye I use a pour pot only, so no color in the presto pot ever. I got all the stuff to do a spigot but haven't yet. That might be another project for this weekend :smiley2: Also I order 4 pour pots for the price of 3 through Cierra. Thought that was a good deal worth mentioning. Seeing I havn't seen one locally for less than $15-20. These ended up being around $25 for 4 of those.(2lb wax holders-4lb wax holders were like $30 for 4) Plus they had free shipping for orders over $99. Which is easy to do with supplies. Wax however didn't get free shipping, but did count toward $99 for free shipping on all other stuff.

I am experimenting with tarts made out of IGI 4625 & 4794...Anyone else try this combo? I tried a 50/50 mix so far. Would like some feedback of thoughts or ideas for "perfect" blends for tarts:smiley2:

the smell is pretty good so far so far no centers dipping (not that it matters much on tarts)

I went and bought a bunch last night at WalMart. I made sure they had a '5' on the bottom. At my local WlMart they cost .94 cents...How do you all display your melts at craft shows? Thanks Again, no more wasting bags for me :smiley2: !

Hello everyone, I am new to the board and have been reading through past posts, but with no luck.:undecided (I am sure a post exists somewhere out there) I am curious as to how everyone cures their tarts. I have been taking them out of molds,(when hardened) then putting them all together in a large baggie and leaving them alone for about a week. Scent seems great, just curious of other methods because I am fairly new to this....Thanks everyone in advance!!

Hello, I too do waxed bears...I use the cellophane rolls. (find a good length) This seems to work great for me. This way your not squeezing them into a confined space. I like this method, and it has worked great for me. Hopefully that helps. It does take a few times to learn what works
