  1. Hi all, I was wondering which tart type shapes sell better? Cute little cookie cutter shapes, clamshells, floater type? I'm leaning towards the mini muffin ones myself, but wanna make some cute little Texas and longhorn shaped ones(found those today at a craft store..so cute!) as well for a craft show coming up. Or does it seem to matter? Just curious..I've never really sold many except in portion cups and I didn't care for the looks of those and I'm going to be using the palm wax for these to. Also, if I sell the mini muffin ones seperate, how much do you sell those for? I was going for 6/$5..but seperate I was thinking $1?? I've not tried my hand at shrink wrap, so does anyone sell singles just in a small cello with tie? I know..I'm full of it tonight but trying to keep my mind off the talk of Ike hitting the gulf and Texas..so I gotta keep my mind busy!!! LOL Thanks bunches
  2. Thanks so much! I didn't even think about that with the cello bags! Makes perfect scents!! Guess I'll do jars then! And may not do tarts..I made some crumbs and I actually loved them..they melt so much quicker!!! Messy, but I was impressed!!! Thanks for the heads up on the cello!
  3. What the heck are wax crystals?(not talking about aroma beads) These were fine powder type..like sand that I came across as someone selling them as wax crystals you put in tart warmers? Just curious..lol
  4. Hi all, Do any of you do both crumbles and tarts or just one or the other? And if you do the crumbs, do you put them in cello or jars? I almost think it's a waste of a jar to put crumbles in but thought about layering the crumbles. What size jar do you guys use if you do and do you add a scoop? Spoon? Need ideas for my upcoming craft show next month. I have had a hard time selling tarts but I have never done the shows either so I'm gonna try them again and use palm wax..love the look! Cello would be cheaper than the jars and would probably look just as good layered. Ideas??:smiley2: Thanks!!
  5. Thanks! I'll go to the dollar tree this weekend(maybe today) and check it out..those little bowls would even be cheaper than the tart tins I have and you're right to about them getting HOT..touched one not to long ago..dunno what I was thinking!!LOL I need some for a craft show coming up next month..I have the tins and used to sell them all together as a ~set~..did really well. Those tins are about .70 each and I didn't care for putting them in the oven to make them darker. So thanks ladies!!!! I'm gonna go check it out!!!! Any more ideas let me know! I do have some of those little clear sauce bowls..got 'em in a set of other containers and they are so versatile..we love 'em!!!! Didn't think about that one!
  6. Hi all, What/where do you find cute ceramic type bowls or mugs for a candle warmer to put tarts in? I've been using a lg floater/tart mold from BB&B and wanted to know if anyone gets just plain ceramic type bowls from maybe WM? Need ideas..may stick with my metal tart mold I found..I do put those in an oven to turn them dark, so they aren't too bad..I have sold some but just wanting some diff. ideas..thanks!!!
  7. Thanks! I think I might..now that it's on my mind I gotta try it:) Just wanted to know if anyone has used the gold with brown..lol
  8. Howdy all! Well, I have finally got the design I want on my spray bottles for room spray(after months) and have used the clear bottles with white sprayers (2 oz). I currently use white avery address labels. My question is this..has anyone used the brown bottles with black sprayers and gold labels and how do they look?(I like the brown bottles better) I have the western theme...with barbed wire for border and boots for the graphic just to give you an idea. I really don't want kraft labels. It might give it the look of a little class and western? Ideas? Thanks,
  9. I've decided I may try both..and I'll let you all know if I go get the material and make my own "circles" LOL And they probably do need to be bigger than 9" cuz they look small in the pic when tied up..I wondered about that myself! Those look more like little rice throwers for weddings. I want the more masculine look I think. dirtbirdsoaps, I have no clue about the envelopes but I don't know why not. I see them being sold everywhere..I think ppl use them in their drawers, closets. I don't know wherre to get the envelopes though..so maybe someone on here can answer that!! I think it's a good idea myself.
  10. Yep..you can make them in a toaster oven..the smell dosen't linger at all. I do use my oven to, but to make a small batch i have used it..it works just fine. I did screw up and put them in the freezer one time..NEVER AGAIN!!!:undecided LOL Everything smelled and tasted like fo...it actually gets in everything..lol.I ruined everything in there. They are easiest to pull off cookie sheet when cooled but still barely warm..I have never had a problem. Only when I let cool completely. I'll not do the organza bags yet..the kids said try them..they like those to but hubby thinks the shapes and colors is what helps them sell! we have a local hobby shop that carries the shapes I need including the Texas one but sunday they were out!! So i found Off the Beaten Path online which has a deer head to. I figured the star within a star would be a booger, but thought I MIGHT try it,lol..who knows..lol.
  11. Hi! You are so right about selling them out! I guess I'll keep making the ornies then..my family thinks they sell better and ppl like the looks of them..I sell out everytime I make them..hubby takes them with him and they let my youngest put them in a basket at his job and sell them for reg. price there. I sell mostly Texas shape and the heart shape. I do want a deer head for deer season..my son's friend wants a Dallas Cowboy ornie..so I'm gonna see about getting the star cookie cutters that sit in one another and do the dark blue and white..maybe. I don't have white dye, lol. But I think the tech. would work. They also said make a few and see how it goes..but ppl like picking them out,ya know? I have made so much on them already..in fact most of that has helped me buy my candle supplies..lol. Ok..guess I'll stay..I also thought about the Christmas ones for the tree...so those do well to??? Do you pkg them in 3's or just sell seperate? I need to go order some more cutters,lol... thanks!
  12. hi again:) After thinking about the organza bags, or muslin bags I was wondering if anyone has bought material, like netting or just any kind of cotton type material and cut 4-5" circles and made their own like that and just tied them at the top with ribbon or hemp?(I don't sew) I have a western type theme and organza is a little more fancy. I may switch to corn cob later to...haven't decided yet. I sell from my youngest's job at a collision shop to and they buy them from there..but didn't wanna do fancy type bags. Would the smell be very strong from the cotton type material? Since it wouldn't be super thing? I know the corn cob worked well in muslin. thanks,
  13. Thanks guys!!!! I'll go check out those places...I asked the son's last night and their friends which one's they liked and they said the bags..but they are men, lol. My youngest said the women liked the shapes..lol..but I am sick of making them. I just thought the organza bags were expensive at Walmart...guess that's the going rate. I'll have to go check out the site you all said..sounds a heck of a lot cheaper!!! I think I'm gonna do the organza..tired of messing with the baking.:undecided
  14. Hi all, I make the ornies with the cookie cuters and they sell really well for me. But I'm wondering if you guys sell the ornies or sachets better? I'm thinking about only carrying the beads in organza bags. I saw some at Wallyworld, and thought they were kind of expensive...the bags. And if I went with the sachets, what size do you use and has anyone used the corn cob in organza? I did used to make the corn cobs and put in muslin..those went well to. I'm getting tired of making the ornies I guess. And where do you get your organza bags? There has to be other places here other than WM. We have a Hobby Lobby and Michaels I haven't checked out yet. Any suggestions would be appreciated!!! Thanks bunches!
  15. Okie dokie... Callin' these cuties Baby Bean Pots...any other cute names let me know..I am in TX and have the western theme..boots, barbed wire type..lol. Now my mind is going again..it never ends!!!
  16. I am pretty happy with the 3 for 10 thing..I think it'll go over good. I'd love to find some small wooden crates that would hold 3 of those babies, and group them with fruits, bakery..etc..lol...neat idea if I can find what I want:) I'm just not gonna offer a lot of different things anymore..only what is selling well...and what I sell out of..and smaller is the way to go! Down to ornies, spray and the little tureens now and it makes me happy:) Dang...I need to find a name for my little guys now..lol..something else to think about as if my mind wasn't cluttered enough with candle stuff, lol. At least I got my labels done!
  17. Hi all! The 3 oz tureens I get are at green leaf..and they have black lids or gold..you can choose! have a western type theme so the black is adorable!!! The tureens look like a small bean pot..I never thought I'd like tureens but I do for wickless..tins IMO get to hot...but I've done them. When I got the 3.3 oz..I fell in love! They are the cutest things and the size is perfect. They put out as much as the 6 and 8 oz..IMO. I've decided to sell them for 4$ each or 3 for 10$. I do the room sprays to and may even add 1 with a tureen and sell that way to..haven't decided yet. But I've been downsizing..ppl here buy my car ornies and sprays faster and smaller has sold so much better...so I figure why not just carry the 3.3 oz? They do the same and if they can buy 3 different for 10..it may go over really well!!! I'm going to the dollar store this weekend and see if I can find some cute little crates or baskets to maybe sell them together in? Just an idea! but smaller is better..and the same great quality!!!
  18. Hi again! I am full of it this week and am downsizing..some. I have ordered the 3.3 oz tureens for wickless and they are adorable(just posted a reply about them in tarts not selling) I saw where 1 of you sell the 4 oz and say they are going over well...so my question is this: Would you sell only the 3.3 oz only or keep the 6 oz as well and sell both? I had thought about just the 3.3 oz and sell a 2 oz spray with it..make it a set or something to that effect and do away with the 6 oz tureens. I have also noticed smaller sells better and sometimes MORE. I am burning a 3.3 oz and can smell it all over the living room and kitchen..so not to bad at all...
  19. Thanks guys! I also thought about the palm waxed tarts to..I think the cuter they look the better. I did sell a crumbly chunk set of 4 votives..cinn.bun..they were adorable..but other than that..nothing and I've tried for several years. I just recently bought the 3.3 oz tureens for wickless(adorable!!!)..am even thinking about dropping the 6 oz and just selling those..they really put out as much as the 6 oz in my opinion. Anyone else just sell the one size wickless or would you carry both? I do so well with the wickless, sprays and car ornies though. Seems smaller sells more and you can make more...but that's been my observation this past year...lol.
  20. Hello all! Does anyone have a problem selling tarts and votives? I enjoy making them but my car ornies, wickless candles and sprays sell. I can't get rid of these things! I even thought about doing crumbles, but don't think they would go either..or tea lights. Just wondering if anyone else had this problem? I am in Texas..dunno if that makes a difference or not, lol. I live close to the gulf. Thanks!
  21. Hi all, Does anyone know where to find mini wooden spoons or metal ones to hang around your jar candles? TIA, Linda
  22. Hi all, I want to make my votives look cracked. Does anyone know how this is done? I think it has to do with the temp and then a big cool down somehow..dunno if in the freezer(treid that) or cold water bath, etc? I have looked for directions and cannot find them anywhere. I make the chunky votives already but wanted a different look and I saw those somewhere and loved them on pillars, but surely you can do them for votives as it is the same type wax. Any help would be appreciated!! TIA, CandleChic
  23. Hello all, I used to make votives with 2275 and the metal molds. This was several years ago. I have forgotten which wicks other than it was 44z something. They burned perfectly, but I have forgotten what size I used. So, if any of you use this one pour votive wax, what wicks are you using? I can't believe I forgot..lol. Thanks!
