That helps! I'm hoping it will hold up well in a roll on! thanks so much for your rec, do you recommend any of that companies other gourmandy oils?

right off the top of my head....Cinnamon Bread Pudding, Iced Lemon Danish, Maple Walnut Fudge, Pumpkin Milkshake, Old Town Bake Shop, Cuppy Cake and I love their straight Pumpkin as it's not overloaded with spice. There's some spice but not "in your face" like most Pumpkin scents tend to have. HTH
I am still somewhat new to MS myself but haven't been disappointed....by their oils. :)

@Lizzy, is the Pro Blend 600 more on the white side since it has more soy? I really dislike the semi-opaque yellowness of the soy-paraffin blends I've tried so far. I just think they're ugly. LOL I really love the creamy white of the cocosoy, and would love to get it to work for me.

It's more creamy and opaque when poured yes but it still gets that paraffin look when burned....if you know what I mean....lol....that glossy, soft, shiny translucent look.

Hi! Does anyone have any J50 Wax from like Missy’s when it was a thing? Or just the J50 Wax in general? I wanna get some but cheaper than online and I like the J50 better than the paraffin I have been using!

I used the J50 years ago and don't have any left but TCMS has it which is also in OH so shipping shouldn't be too much?

  4. Finickiness (has to be stirred to 105.2 * whilst stirring counterclockwise while reciting a poem to the candle deities?) :laugh2:

For me it's hot throw, glass adhesion and (ease of) wicking
Also....and this is a big no no for me personally........texture of the wax itself. I absolutely cannot work with a wax that has a "slimy" soft texture. I get so grossed out that I could barf. I have tried. I have tried many, many times. And I recently tried again with Coco 83. I know some ppl praise the soft "butter like" waxes for the ease of be able to cut them with a knife....but for me it's not doable. I much prefer clobbering a hard slab of wax. It's therapeutic. I'm weird. :Werd:

You can make an awesome candle from anything that will burn once you understand the fuel composition needed for your candle. You can “fix” sub par blends too.

What many miss for stellar HT is the key ingredient: excellent fragrances designed for purpose.

That is why I decided to just use two waxes. Back to basics. I have plenty of experience with them and know exactly what needs tweaking. It's easy to jump on the "flavor of the month" bandwagon when it comes to waxes and FO's and I admit I was intrigued by Coconut waxes but after testing 3 of them I am severely disappointed. Even soy didn't disappoint me that much. LOL

I can’t keep up with all of the new “amazing” coconut blends.  The market is oversaturated.

I’ve been back at it with raw materials I have and am LOVING my own blends so much.  I also love that I’m not tethered to a distributor.

It absolutely is. High hopes....major let downs.
I'm back to basics with waxes (only 2 waxes for me from now on....one for candles and one for melts) that are available from numerous suppliers. No muss, no fuss. Simplicity is what my jam is. LOL

I usually go one size up for the salsa.

Here's a pic of a 51z in the 16oz Flint jar from Aztec (very similar to salsa, just a little bit wider) after a long burn.  The wick will need trimming but a very clean burn. I'm also gonna test 44-36 before I decide on these.

Is that Mottle Container Wax? If so what wax is it? TIA.

  8. I use (and love) Zincs and for a Jelly Jar I mostly use a 44-32-18Z (sometimes one size lower 44-28-18Z depending on the FO)
Square Masons and Salsa Jars I use a 51-32-18
The only time I ever needed to use a 60-32-18 was in a Wide Mouth Mason Jar.

They usually catch up the hang up when burning down in the jars :) Love Zincs! Did I mention that? LOVE THEM. LOL

    I got that email too.

Given the too many new coconut product offerings in the market I’m well past the desire to Pokémon and collect them all. Too many are proving to just the same soy wax we are trying to jettison with a little coconut oil thrown in to make the label appealing enough to reclaim market share.

To those of us who use and love a well blended coconut wax product, coconut wax is not just coconut oil.

I passed on the ASO offer I almost bit.  Almost, for science. The all in price for 5 lbs was over $33.

I'm going to pass on it as well. I am at my limit of "wax collections" and don't need anymore laying around.

    Best of luck. 🍀

coco83 is not perfect, but it is a super blender and chassis for add-ons .  It’s as if the wax is soaked in phthalates given how it “can” throw, compared to dulled waxes and fragrances we’ve been stuck with. 🙃

if I had one wish it would be to have lunch with the original formulator of coco83. I would love to understand the thought path for the choices of oils used in that blend. The coco83 waxes I’ve received through the years have not ever felt fixed formula, but all worked well enough if you know how to test and tweak.

Can't say I'm looking fwd to testing but alas I have no choice...lol
I got mine from VCS. We'll see how it does and how it compares to my previous wax.

On a side note....I see ASO now carries a Coco Soy too. UGH. LOL

I know what you mean… it really stressful.

I have plenty of wax for small jars, but tins and multi wick ceramic jars is a totally other story.

I just ordered Coco83 to test. From my research and super snooper endeavours ...I concluded that it is closest to my previous wax. Wish me luck. Ugh. LOL

You can get it at Flaming, Just Scent and there's one more place but I can't remember right off the top of my head. Their para/soy wax is also sold at Flaming and Just Scent and also Virginia Candle Company.

Ahhhh ok. I knew about the para soy just not the straight paraffin. But....DIMPLES...and the only thing I found that works to get rid of them is to blend it. UGH

I hear you on not wanting to keep buying multiple waxes. I think I've settled and then BAM! I change my mind. I was using 6006 for containers and to mix with 4625 for clams but it gets so hot here in East Texas that I thought I needed a harder container wax so now I'm trying 133 because it can be used with containers and shapes too but I hate the dimples it leaves on the shapes and I'm not sure yet if the throw in containers is as good as 6006 but I've only poured one candle with it so far so it's too early to tell. After 10 years you'd think I would have it together by now but nope, not yet.

Yeah the dimples is what turned me off with 133 when I tried it years ago. Is 133 only available from RE? That would be another turn off for me personally because I just got burned by a supplier discontinuing the wax I was using (and loved)

The para/soy from Flaming doesn't leave wet spots? I've never tried that wax, just their para/soy tart wax which is the same from RE and Virginia.

Hasn't for me so far. Adhesion is great for me with the PB 600 and also 464. I love the throw from 6006 but on it's own...the wetspots are too much for me. I have been testing some blends with it. BUT....BUT....I am kinda sick of having to buy multiple waxes. Especially with prices sky high not only for wax but shipping as well.

  15. About time!! I saw it yesterday afternoon when CS posted the article. Already there's a huge uproar. The numbnuts are arguing that Candles & Supplies made a live a while back and "proved" that nothing would happen. BTW they lost my business that day. Promoting putting flammables on candles for the sake of more sales (as in wax sales for them)....nope, I'm out!

I like the hot plate warmers too. I have a couple of the light bulb ones and like them well enough but I do prefer the hot plate warmers.

I just don't have any luck with them. No matter who the melts are from. They just don't work for me.

*edit to my previous reply....the Yankmee warmer is a 12 watt not 20 watt. I was half asleep. LOL

We sound like two peas in a pod LOL!

Do you get the same throw with para/soy as all paraffin? I poured a candle in 133 and it didn't seem to throw as well as I thought it should so I've poured one in para/soy and I'll test that one in a few days but the cold throw in that one seems to be better. I could be wrong though.

Not right off the bat....seems to me that any blends with soy need to get good and hot in the warmers I use. I prefer hotplate warmers. I CANNOT stand light bulb warmers and will never recommend them. The best warmer I have ever owned and still use is a tiny Owl warmers from Yankmee. LOL It's only 20 Watts but man that little thing works like a charm!!

I have to say....all waxes that were available to us just 10 years ago have changed. Nothing's the same anymore.
