I got mine at home depot years ago. It is the kind with removable filters you just change out over time. They are hard to breath out of but you eventually get use to it. I find if I don't use mine when I am making candles I get plugged up and don't feel well the next day (congested). I'm short so my face is always near the pot. Not only the FO but I feel like I'm breathing waxy residue. Get you a respirator, I think it will help you a lot. It sure has helped me and I feel like I am being safer with my health.

I've never heard such a thing. I would bring it to at least 180 for the color especially if you are using color blocks. I don't see why you would need to go any higher then that. Also you want to be careful not to overheat soy as it can burn pretty easily.

I love this one, it smells very pretty.....Hoping to get it poured soon! To me it is a dark Burgundy.

Sunni, feed me with some info What do you love about it?
Terri, I am excited for you Did you make any other scents?
KarenCO, I have messed around with my own soy blends before, just testing though. I know some do it and love it. You could always make up a bunch of testers with different percentages and see whatcha come up with.

Yes you can and I think it makes great votives. I prefer my votives a softer wax anyhow so it always worked good for me. Generally votives are considered container candles only you have to actually put them in the holder You know how the public works though! The votives are still firm to the touch when they come out of the mold. It's not a single pour wax it's a hard container wax I believe 128 mp. Lot's of votive waxes are right around this range. They should come right out of the mold.....If not pop them in a the fridge for a few minutes and lightly tap on the counter. If you have the right wick and a votive holder it will burn evenly.

I've contacted them in the past and they told me they didn't have the veg/soy waxes. It was on their site at the time so not sure if they have it now or just never updated the site.
Let us know what ya find out I think they have a minimum order!

Yes, you can see the water in the pour pot it will stay on the bottom. Don't pour the last bit in. I ran into this problem about 5 years ago with IGI 4786. It does happen but that is great that they will replace it for you. I had bought mine from another candlemaker so I was stuck with it but IGI did end up replacing her whole pallet.

I'm sorry you are having so much trouble Tracey but I do know what you are going through with these wicking issues. Right now I am hesitant to even order more of the ky125 because I fear it's going to be different then my last batch. I'm starting to test some new waxes and have been in a slump on what direction to go. Do I order more or do I move on....SIGH! I don't like the fact that the soy waxes keep changing and everything has to be repeatedly tested. Now is not the time for me to do this but I'm not happy with the wicking issues either. Also, I did notice the wax is harder then it use to be? Overall, it never seems like it is the same to me and it has been very discouraging to feel this way.
Anyhoo, I have tried crisco before but mainly in paraffin applications years ago. I did try it in soy one time and it will help a bit with the burn but I find it causes a lot more mushrooming. I normally test with 2 tablespoons per lb. I would try a 60C of you decide to do so.
Keep us posted Tracey

Robin, I loved the clean wax when I tested it a couple years ago. I went ahead and bought a couple cases and it had a bad odor? I couldn't stand it, it was an awful crayon/chemical smell. I ended up getting my money back thank goodness they did that. What a shame they couldn't work that out, it was a great wax before something went wrong....Weird!
-
Ohhhh, you gotta pour it girl
I went ahead and ordered a slab of each to test. WOW, I already got a shipping confirmation......Peak is so fast, I love that!

Keep hoping to hear something Also interested in the votive blend if anybody has tried it and what they thought of it.

I'm a Kawi fan, that looks great! My nephew would love something like that but now he is into KTM (Orange/Black). He is racing on Sunday! I still think the Kawi was more reliable. Funny Kawi has a red & blue building.....That should be Honda
Anyhow, love your candle

I use them for my double wicked jars and they burn down nice and clean. I've always liked them in soy but I use different wicks for different jars.

Thanks for the review! Curious what scents you tried in it and how they did
-
Very Interesting! That sure would save some time on cooling as well. Let us know how it turns out

I agree with Janet! I saw pictures of these dyes color soy "Pitch Black." That's pretty amazing considering you don't have to wick up if you follow the formula. Next on my list of things to try

I poured this in Soy & PB and had no problems at all with it. It smelled wonderful OOB, sure hope it throws!
-
If you use IGI 1343 you need to try the Cinnamon Roll with Vanilla Frosting. Wonderful throw in this wax and smells YUM. It is hard to blend though! I totally loved the Chestnuts & Brown Sugar you could literally drink it but I wouldn't advise it. Also the Mojito Coctail is really nice! If you like florals, which I don't but did like this one The Hycinth Chula Orchid, great throw in soy.

I tried NG coconut years ago and it smelled like a rubber tire to me :undecided They have a good coconut cream pie though. I love KY's CCP but it does discolor. I also tried Tradewinds coconut and think that was the truest I have smelled but in my pillar wax it got fuely. Would love to try it in soy but there shipping scares me. I got a sample of BCS coming to try, crossing fingers cause I haven't really heard anything on it.
Thanks Margarita, if this don't work out I'll give it shot on my next peak order
-
Thank You for honesty! That is the problem I seem to have with coconut scents, that is the main thing I wanted to know

Anybody try this in soy or anything? Does it smell like coconut or more mild?
-
I got a sample of this coming.....YAY. Glad to hear that!
Wondering about Respirators
in General Candle Making Discussions

Those little paper face masks are not good for vapors, more for dust. You need a respirator!
Type in respirators at homedepot.com and they have them for $19.97. If you go to the website put in the catalog # 100076338 at the right top hand search and it will pull it up. For some reason I can't seem to copy the url over. HTH
