  1. May I ask where you get yours at Cindy? I have been thinking abot going back to this wax. I just got a couple slabs to test from LS! I found it at TC for what I thought was the best price but they are discontinuing all the IGI waxes so that explains that :cry2: Shipping to CA suxs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Thank You, I did a search and found a bit about it. They are fine this morning, it must have got really hot in my house yesterday. We are not home during the day so I don't usually run the air. I burned 2 of them last night and both had a nice HT :yay: When I get a chance this evening, I'll swing by GL.

  3. Sorry to hoard the thread but really didn't want to start a new one. I came home today to wick a tester and to my surprise all my testers are seeping oil out the top? I only used 6% FO so this is a bit of a concern for me :shocked2: I didn't have the air on today so I know it got pretty hot in here. Is this common with this wax? I've witnessed it before with regular soy but at a lot higher fragrance load.

  4. I just poured my first sample of it yesterday....Slaker! So far I am pleased with the appearance of it and it colored nicely. I don't normally color my candles but since it has paraffin in it thought I would see how it looked. Cold throw is great, probably wait a few more days to burn.

How is the burn with this wax, is it hard to wick? I got 4-4oz testers in the hex squat jars. I'll probably start with the LX wicks and see how they fair in it.

  5. Also, I wonder if Peak is not selling a lot of this wax at the moment could the batches be from older crops? Is there a date on the box or anything? Something to think about when testing! You know how some batches seem to be harder to burn then others? I don't make many candles anymore so when I do order wax sometimes it is different then the previous cases I have gotten. Something to do with the crops at certain times of year. Of course I could be way off but I still pounder these things :tongue2: I've tried many different soy waxes and the soy/cottonseed is still my favorite.

  6. Oh good, I am so glad to hear that.

Lynn, the only difference that I know is the 125 has cottonseed in it. I have never tried the KYpure. I've tested other pure soys though and I liked the KY125 better because of the cold and hot throw. I have a sample of the EL Soy coming. A girl from another board uses it and said it has never been inconsistant for her.

  7. Anybody order any new cases recently? Wondering how the crops are right now? It has been some time since I have ordered, still fighting with an old bum case.

I remember how good it was the time before  Can't seem to get that out of my head and let go of this wax. I've tested other waxes and will continue to test but so far I haven't found anything to make the switch.

  8. Well, it can't be they don't like the scent or they wouldn't order the same scent. Did you by chance suggest that the larger size has a better throw? I am a bit stumped why they would order the same scent if they are complaining it has no throw? You need to stand up for yourself and ask them this question? If it makes no sense then why on earth give in to the request. The candles need to be returned and no you do not get a larger size in trade. If you allow people to run over you, you will be sorry because believe me people will have no trouble taking advantage of you.

  9. OK, here goes.

Top-449, xmas tree, 449 apple pie, 449 orange chiffon

Bot-444, xmas tree, 444 apple pie, 444 orange chiffon.

So far I guess both of the ones poured at 165 look the best to me. I really can't tell any difference in the pour temps with the 449 but there is a surface crack in all of the 444's. The 444's are also a murky in color compared to the 449's. All have wet spots. Still think the 449 has a slightly better cold throw. gbsoy.jpg

  10. I poured both of these waxes and IMO the 449 looks way better then the 444. The 444 already has wet spots, the tops are cracked and some minor frosting on one of them.

The 449 has a nice smooth creamy top, no cracks, no frosting and no wetspots. I just poured them today but there is already a distinct difference between the two. Also the 449 has almost an immediate cold throw compared to the 444, barely has any. The 449 is also whiter in appearance, hubby noted the 444 looks dirty?

I'm going to let them cure a couple days and see how the hot throw fairs. I poured 3 testers in each wax with the same scents. Christmas tree poured at 145. Apple Pie poured at 155 and Orange Chiffon poured at 165. All of the 449's are identical, no difference in pour temps but the Apple pie and x-mas tree seem to be sweating? Odd the OC is the heaviest oil. The 444's have a surface crack and the OC poured at 165 has a sink hole. Minor frosting on x-mas tree. All are 1 oz per lb FO in 8 oz testers.

I took some pictures but I cannot find my usb cord that hooks it up :( Guess I'll have to pick a new one up on Monday.

  11. For me it was hard to wick my testers since I wick them after the candle is set up. The wick was flimsy trying to get it down in the hole it kept bending and scrunching up. I am not suggesting this will affect the burn just something I noticed. So far the one I have burning is doing rather nicely and I like that they are very white.
