  1. OOOOOOOOH! Beautiful work! Now I know what orbs are. I am surprised the heat of the wax doesn't melt the balloon. Great Work! Thank you for sharing.
  2. What are orb or waterballoon candles? I am very interested as they sound cool!
  3. Crap! I just put in an order to them last Sunday and have already spent my budget for awhile. Do they advetise in advance or do you just have to check their site on a regular basis?
  4. My scale runs on A/C or a 9v battery. I use the A/C since there are plenty of outlets handy!
  5. I just poured my frst trial of 4627 Comfort Blend. SO far so Good. I was wondering if you have to poke relief holes around the wick, and if so, how do you cover them up. I did a search and didn't find anything with regards to CB. I did not put holes in mine as I was unsure how to give a finished look if I did. I hope this is not a silly question! Thank you for your help!
  6. The link helped me as I was wondering how those who advertised "Triple Scenting" managed to Jam all that FO into their candles and still have them burn properly. I thought I was missing out on some secret ingredient! As it turns out the truth has been twisted into a markketing ploy...... Thanks for the information!
  7. I orderd some 4627 Comfort Blend and some 4630 Harmony Blend to try and it showed up this afternoon! Good Gravy! I know everyone said it was gooey but I didn't realize just how much until I opened the Box! I am sure the 80-90 degree weather today didn't help. Really, the comfort blend wasn't as much of a suprise as the 4630 (comfort blend was packed tight while 4630 was loosley covered in plastic). That stuff is all over the inside of the bag. I put inside another bag in case of a hole in the original bag (don't want it all over the inside of my storage tote)! I can't wait to play around in it (probably on Monday). Just wanted to share the excitement! Amanda
  8. Your broken thermometer predicament gave me an idea! I have this digital thermometer that I use for grilling. It is made for use in meat;it beeps when it gets to the set temperature for a specific meat's doneness. I think I can use it for candle wax, though (haven't tried it as of yet). Why I wanted to tell everyone about it is because the probe is attatched to a long (over a foot) metal cord that hooks into the main unit. This will enable the probe to reach the desired depth in you melting pot. You can also change the temperature from Farenheit to Celcius. It also comes with a remote unit you can carry with you (great for grillin, but you probably don't need it for candles as you have to stay nearby) up to 100 ft away from the base unit. The one I have is made by Maverick and the main downside is it is pricey at $40.00 (I recieved it as a Christmas Gift). There may be some cheaper ones out there that operate using a probe on a cord. I am definitley going to check that out as I would want a separate one for wax use. I just wanted to share this with everyone as I thought it might be helpful! I can't believe it took me this long to think of it!
  9. I too have noticed that many well known or mass manufactured candles are not always the best quality. I know before I started making candles, I did not know what made a quality candle. I just bought them if they smelled good and I think many in the general public are like I was. I have several family members/friends who love candles and I have shared my knowlege about what makes a quality candle. I have a few big names in my collection that are not buring the way they should and some that are working excellent. I plan on melting the ones that are having troubles down and rewicking them.
  10. Thank you all for the information, it is most helpful. I think I will try some of the comfort blend wax with my next order. I am debating between this wax and the 4630. I guess the only way to decide is to get some of both and see which one I like best. As for cleaning up, I tend to be a friend of Goo Gone in the Gel form. It works great on cleaning up wax from everything! Then I rinse with hot water. Thank you all again. I just love the information on this site! Amanda
  11. I was given one of these candles about a year ago as a gift. It burned nicely and completely after I trimmed the wick. It was hot chocolate scented and seemed to have a good hot scent throw. The wax actually looked like hot cocoa! I am by no means a candle expert, but what I think happened in those pictures is this: Whoever set up the photo sessions was not knowlegeable about burning candles. They just lit them as is and took the picture.
  12. Thank You all for the information! It is a big help. I am trying to put an order together of FOs from Bitter Creek right now. They all sound so good, I'm having rouble limiting myself to just a few!
  13. I get my FOs from Bitter Creek North. So far I have had good luck with them and thier site says they are High Quality. I was wondering if y'all have used their FOs and what you think of them as I don't see Bitter Creek mentioned too often. I was just curious if maybe there was a place that has better quality FO that I am not aware of. Thank you for your information!
  14. I am debating on trying the comfort blend wax as I have heard both good and bad points about it. Is the finished candle made from the CB a solid candle, or is it more like jelly (you can stick your finger in the candle)? I think that the possibility of being able to stick your finger in the finished product is the only aspect that bothers me about this wax right now. I'm not sure why this bothers me. I guess I'm just being weird!
