  1. I am using IGI4630. That's not the only problem I'm having either with it... Some of my wicks are drowning... it seems to be in the ones that are darker in color. (sigh)
  2. Why does the melt pool on Baby Powder not harden back to the same color as the wax that is not melted? It is much darker!! TIA! Chantel
  3. hmmmmmm...... your post raises a question. In some of my scents that maybe considered a "heavier" FO, my wicks are drowning out, like in leather, chocolate covered cherries and juniper breeze. You think that could be why??? 10% of that particular scent is too much for my 4630? Also, something else, in these particular scents I have used the darker colors.
  4. well, that's what I came up with too but thought it was too much since a typical FO is added at 1 oz per pound and my wax for one candle is 11.40 oz. Thought I was doing something wrong.
  5. Hi Everybody! This is probably pretty easy to figure out and a dumb question but I've been up most of night with sick baby and can't think straight! I used the calculator to figure amount of wax needed for one candle. It said 11.40 oz. If I want to use 10% FO.... how many ounces of FO do I need for one candle?????? TIA! Chantel
  6. hmmmmmm.... I see what your saying. Sounds good too! Thx!
  7. She buys more candles that I ever thought about buying...lol. She is definetly a candle freak. I left her house and came back about three hours later and I couldn't smell it when I walked in her house. You could barely smell it when you got up real close to it. I don't know what happened. Guess I didn't stir enough.
  8. I am new to this and I'm still in the testing phase but I have a couple of leads on distributors. Problem is, I have no idea what to pay them. If my candles costs me 4.50 to make and I wholesale for 9.00, retail for 13.50, that doesn't leave a very good margin for MY profit if I have to pay a distributor. Anyone doing this successfully out there??
  9. Well, I have been testing my candles and gave some to my sister in law to try out. I gave her my Dreamsickle scent which is our favorite scent. I am using 16 oz jars, btw. Went over there tonight and it was about at the halfway mark.......NO SCENT THROW!!! It smelled wonderful until it hit about halfway. What happened???
  10. Is the profit really good on these?? I love the idea but do you have to use a lot of FO?
  11. I know what you mean Trish. I must have spoken to the same girl....lol I'm looking elsewhere. Has any of you tried printing your own off of your computer? I bet that would be more expensive due to the ink!!
  12. to get the wholesale accounts? I read the sticky Wholesaling 101 but I am curious as to how you went about doing it and what seemed to be the best way to approach the prospects?? My problem is that I am soooooo shy. I better pull out of it quicklike, I know. TIA, Chantel
  13. You are right about them being messy. My wax for my containers is way too soft.
  14. I am using IGI4630 and boy is it soft. Actually, I couldn't get them out so I popped them in the freezer for about 20 mins and they came right out. Will the softer wax burn quicker than a harder one? lol..... bet you can tell I'm a newbie.... I have thought about finding some cute smaller containers for my votives so I don't have to leave them "exposed". I saw some square, heavy, thick glassed ones at the Dollar General but they are 1.00! Isn't that too much for a votive container?? Thx y'all! Chantel
  15. I see. I may be digging wax out then...lol. I just didn't know and thought I would ask. Thx! Chantel
  16. not using container wax to make votives? I had some left over wax after making some of my containers and just to see how they would turn out I poured some votives. I haven't tested them yet but I was just curious. BTW, I am new to your board and have learned so much from all of you! This is a wonderful place with a bunch of wonderful people! TIA, Chantel
  17. Does anyone know of a reasonable printer for my labels??? I have checked kinko's and they will be about 85 cents a piece for about a 2 X 4 inch. TIA, Chantel
