i just wanted to report about the remelt and repour i did last night....after i had remelted, added coconut oil and stirred. i thought these are just testers i am going to go ahead and pour hot..it was about 150-155 degrees...this morning, the ELM is baby bottom smooth and shiney..the 414 has on area, about 1/4 of the top has a little cellulite..but it is otherwise smooth and shiney also.. i don't know if the remelt had anything to do with the smooth tops..chime in if you have any input...

i keep mine in the frig..like i read on this forum to do...and it is really hard..you have to get a knife and chisle it..tonight i ran hot water over the jar just a little to soften it up just a little..that way it was a bit easier...

i was a little shy of 1lb. when i melted so i put about 1/2 tbsp of coconut oil..so we will see...i'm keeping my fingers crossed..

well i'll tell you what i have done....i made 4 candles useing pink sugar..and ELM and GB 415..one set of candles I used ICS Pink Sugar in ELM & GB 415.. the other set i used Flickers Pink Sugar in ELM & GB 415..I had cured them for 6 days..I test burned them today..while in my small small bathroom you could smell them, but if you put them in a large room i don't know if you would even know I had a candle burning... ...so i am melting them down,,i am going to add coconut oil and see if i can tell any difference...i will keep the two different brands of soy seperate.. and retest..i will let you know in a few days my luck...

i have been following this post too...i would like to do something to get a better throw..has anyone made one and let it set for a long time to see if it goes rancid?
i would hate to sell or even give one away, and a few months down the road i find out it stinks..lol ..
it is really disheartening to make a candle and you almost have to burn the hair in your nose to smell it:laugh2: ( just a saying i have heard)

i sure am glad i am not the only crazy person here
why do we punish ourselves so? I to use 4" jars..i bought every wick size that i could find..none of them worked single..I finally choose the cd wicks..it depends on the FO but I use from 8's to 12...doubled...i have only had one FO leave black soot in my melt pool..and that was peach ambrosia..and it has been discontinued..but i don't want to toot my horn to loud,,mine all may start sooting tomorrow..
oh my what a crazy candle world..

i have small zip lock bags that i put a tab on with the size of wick..when i make candles and trim off the extra wick length, i keep that and that is what i use to test with...works great for me..i guess you would call me a miser..lol..

funnygirl..do you feel you get as good hot throw with el as with all soy? you know I could live with alot of inperfections, if I could just get a really good hot throw

I was just wondering if it is possible to make Soy candles without all the beautiful white frosting:p Has anyone ever tried putting a little palm wax with soy to help?? Just wondering:confused:
-
I make my own soy candles..I was asked by a friend to come to a candle party. It was Mia Bella Candles..From what I understand they also make their candles out of soy. I was told their business as a candle company was going down because they were not getting good enough hot throw. They totally reformulated their candles. I don't know of course their formula, but they added beeswax and something else, that they really won't say..Do any of you know if their candles throw better than the ones we make with just plain soy...Also the tops of their candles have almost a crystle look to them..I have never burned one to know how they throw..Any one out there know anything about these candles..

dhaaa...why didn't i think of that:confused: that makes total sence..
thanks...

hello to all...i am very new to the candle and scent hobby and business..
my question...
can you re-scent the aroma beads with fresh oil after the scent has gone?
i did search for information on this, but if it is there it slipped by me..
i am using the 4oz. jelly jars, with the vented lids. i tell my customers to not throw away the jars and lids..but was just wondering about the beads..
thanks in advance for your information..

i just wanted to put insome imput about the el milenium..
i have been testing different type of waxes, i was not getting a good hot throw some of my fragrances that are supposed to have a good hot throw in soy.. so i bought some el milenium ..i heated to 175 degree..added fragrance..stirred about 3 min...and thought this is just a tester so i poured about 155- 160 degrees.. in my 4" 10 oz. jar.. the tops are smooth and beautiful..now i just have to wait and test for the scent throw..
i am hoping the the el milenium works for me, as it is close enough for me to drive and pickup..hope this might be of help to someone

THANKS ALL FOR YOUR INFORMATION..I USE GB WAX..IT WAS JUST THE FROSTING ISSUE...SO I THOUGHT THAT WITHOUT COLOR I WOULD HAVE ONE THING LESS TO WORRY ABOUT..AND DIDN'T KNOW IF THERE WAS AN ADDITIVE THAT KEPT THE COLOR FROM CHANGEING WITH THE AGEING OF THE CANDLE..
Wax Works.. Beeswax???
