I started out making candles in Dec..

I really never payed much attention to the

bath and body side of the forum..untill this week,

I don't know what to do..I want to make this soap,

the emulsified body butter lotion that was posted in another thread...

My husband will kill me for sure:grin2:

if he finds me starting something new again..

I sew, quilt, now candles, bath and body..oh my oh my..

Is this a recipe for a beginner? I don't want to get in

over my head. I have never made soap before..

Jami..How much IPM did you add to the recipe? Where is the best place to buy all these ingrediants? I am wanting to try this ASAP:yay:

I have a grapefruit FO, that really has a bad fuel smell, what would you add to it to tame that down??

I have never made anything but Candles..

I have been thinking for making some lotions with

FO's that did not work well in my soy candles.

I found this post..and have so enjoyed reading it,,it has made me

want to try this one too..Did you ever get that tested??

Is this a good lotion for a first timer to try??

But the sound of this lotion, makes me want to

Don't want to put a damper here..but I have tested Blackberry Butter Jam in GB 415 and 464..I let cure for 13 days and I am not getting a very strong throw at all..I first test burned it in 1 week..and was not happy with the throw, so I let it set for another week..and it is not any better..It is a lovely smell but just does not throw well in my soy..Before I totoally give up on it I will let it set for a while longer and see what happens..

You can also get the clean cut at Bitter Creek North and I beleve they are about $6.00..I have had mine for quite awhile and they work great..I like the extra thickness on the bottom too..it makes a perfect cut wick..

Has anyone tried their oils..They have a good write up..and their prices are very resonable..Good prices only if they are good..

Thanks candlebuddy...I want to get mine ordered..I think Sunday is the last day for the pre-buy..I just wanted to be sure,,as it seems vanillas can be hard to get a good hot throw..

Has anyone used this oil in Golden Brands wax 415? Just wondering about the hot throw..Is this a sweet spicy smell??

How long did you let it cure? Sometimes you have to let certain FO's cure for a week or two...and sometimes even longer..

I made a candle with pink sugar, tested in about 7 days..it did not have very much throw..I just thought it was another one that wouldn't work in soy..about 1 month later I came across it again, lighted it, and it had came to life..and I just love it....HTH

where did you read about their sale?? I was wanting to try them too, but can't find anything about sale??

I currantly buy my Jars from Fairway Glass..I can get a Dozen with lids from

$ 14.40 to 16.68 depending on size.. All are 4" in diameter, just different heights..that price is without shipping..I live in Calif..do any of you have another place that I might check out?

I had to tell someone..I just ordered 2 sample packs of FO's from Peaks.

By all the raving about their oils, I thought I would take the plunge..

Now I can't wait to get them..I use Golden Brands 415..Hope I have some good ones. When I get them tested I will post the results..

It is Flickers..Exotic Amazon Teakwood..it smells really earthy..and I have been trying to put my finger on the smell..Try it in a sampler it might be

just what you are looking for..

Vanilla Bliss..Snowtop now ICS..Throws well in my GB 415..

thanks for all the advice..I promise I will not get rid of a sampler because it does not smell gooooood to me... But I will say there is a certain smell I have smelled when I open a bottle that must be used in lots of oils that I just do not like..and when I make the candle I can still smell it:(

Any way back to the sampler box..lol:grin2:

I am new and still learning...To you that have been making candles for a while..Do you find that..you can sniff out of the bottle and tell if you are going to like this oil in wax? Or if it is going to be strong or weak when it is in wax?..

Or do you find that some oils come alive once they are in wax?..Just wondering..I am finding myself doing that, if it does not smell good to me out of the bottle..I don't use it..

I just don't want to pass something up that maybe really good..

What do you all think??

I had emailed Aroma Heaven about their pearlizing powder and they said that it works good in soy..I have not tried it yet but it sounds like it would be pretty..

Have any of you candlemakers found that if you change the brand or type of wick, that it can cause your candle to have a better hot throw?

..I go thru so many different samples, trying to get a good hot throw..and sometimes even though they are supposed to do well in soy, they don't..So I was wondering if I just change the wick type if that would help..I am testing FlowerBomb right now from Flickers, it has a wonderful cold throw but hardley any hot throw in Gb 415 or GB 464..I am using CD wicks. If any of you have ever tested different type wicks let me know what your opinions are..

I may have to buy some samplers of Different brands of wicks and give the
