  1. I'm trying another new fo and right now I'm watching it burn for the first time. It is a 3 x 3 pillar. It is leaving a 1 centimeter or 1/2 inch rim all the way around - evenly. Shouldn't it be burning closer to the edge? Also...what can I do with the candles I have made that just weren't right? Can I melt them down and add more FO and try again or do I have to throw them away? I'm using paraffin blend IGI 4625. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
  2. I don't add any additives to IGI 4625. I thought it was all inclusive and I didn't have to. I was scared to pour above 180 because of it burning the FO off. Making candles is like making divinity.....
  3. Thank you so much. I tried getting on the IGI website and my computer shuts down each time... I'm going to order some flat braid 30 and continue testing. Also going to adjust my pouring temps. Now I don't feel so lost. Thanks again...
  4. Thank you all so much in advance. My melt pool is about the same for each FO. I usually let candle cure for 24 hours (I read this on some website...) I did contact Cajun and he led me to believe that I am suppose to pour all FO at around 165-170. Since I am so new at this I have never even considered pouring different FO at different temps. If I'm not getting a scent throw would it be more feasible to lower the pouring temp or raising it? Thanks again~
  5. Nobody will help me. I'm going to cry.
  6. I know these are probably really dumb questions for those of you who have been making candles for a long time....but I'm really blonde and it is natural:D . All these questions are for 3" pillar candles. I get a great cold and hot scent throw with Creme Brulee...(wax 4625, zinc wick, 6% FO) but the other FO that I have tried are dead. These include plumeria, pear glace', and mulberry.(all FO purchased from Cajun) I've tested from 1 oz per pound to 1.5 oz per pound. Is is possible that I need a larger wick for certain scents? I was thinking of trying a flat braid 30. Do different FO require that you pour at hotter or cooler temps? I heat to 180, add FO at 170-175, stir for 2-3 min., and pour at 165. Please help me....I'm drowning in my own confusion.
  7. Thank you... I'm determined to get this right!!!
  8. I'm very new and very frustrated. I am using Pillar Wax 4625. I know it is preblended but can I add more vybar to it to get a better scent throw. I've been following everyone's directions down to the wire and I'm still not succeeding. I've adjusted my FO between 1 oz per pound up to 1.5 oz per pound. No luck. By the way I'm making 3" pillar candles with a 51-32-182 wick. Thank you to anyone who can save me from myself! HA!
  9. Thank you for any help. I emailed Cajun and I'm waiting on a reply. Since I'm using the IGI 4625 I'm not sure if I can add some vybar. I read somewhere to add Crisco for a better scent throw. What do you think?
  10. What FO are you using? I tried Plumeria last night and it has no throw to it. I know it is me but for the life of me I can't figure it out. I've tried 1oz per pound and have tried up to 1.5oz per pound. I just love pillar candles. I've been making them for a while and have just recently tried to scent them. They look great....but....no scent. I'm loosing it. I'm using the wax and wicks that Cajun suggested. I'm not going to let this candle beat me! HA! Thanks for any help!
  11. Hey! I'm new to all this too and also get my supplies from Cajun. I'm not having much success with their scents in my pillar candles. Can you tell me if your using 4625 wax? I'm getting soooo frustrated.
