  1. I finally got the oils I ordered way back when and the one I was hoping was the same as one I could not longer buy is WONDERFUL. and since I bought it on the super duper sale I am thrilled. I can sit here and sniff all day out of that one bottle. The others are also strong and worked well in my soap. I ordered soap and lotion safe scents only.

Not the easiest to deal with but I am very happy with the oils I finally received.

  2. Sales are up for me and I am opening a store in January. I have been busy the last few weeks doing renovations in the store and going over my purchasing.

I have added bath and body products in the store, as well as gifts and will have a room set up just for wedding items.

    I'm so excited!:yay:

How exciting for you!!! Good luck and I hope you are successful.

  3. My small Christmas shows have been great and sales way over last year. That is until my last monthly market. I did a fourth of what I did last year. Turned out cold and drizzling rain off an on all day. I was disappointed but all in all I did well. I have alot of product left though because I signed up for 3 major huge expensive shows that did not do very well. I guess everyone and their dog on my Christmas list will get a soap and lotion gift sack.:)

  4. I do soap and lotion etc (no candles) and the last two shows have been the best I have ever done. One more to go.

I have noticed that at several shows there were no candles at all and Sunday's show only had one. Of course Scentsy seems to be everywhere I go.

I did 3 large expensive shows and lost money but the small local shows are doing great. Taught me that large isn't always best.

  5. I have a fulltime job so I am not dependent on my soap making for the income BUT I have the same expenses of liability insurance, licenses, website, fees, booth rent, utilities for my workshop and so on. I do not cut prices because I still want to show a profit. So it is not all of us fulltime worker ants that are causing the problems.

I am still amazed at the low soap prices I see at some shows that I go to. But then I don't see those people the next year. They can undercut me all they want and go broke. I just keep chugging along.

  6. Sorry if this sound harsh but all I want to know is WHY would anyone give this piece of trash ANY business after all the negative

reviews he gets on this board.Just stay away and give your business to a reputable supplier that gives great customer service. :2cents:

    WHY???

Because he advertised a scent I have been searching for and unable to find. Took a chance and it didn't work out.

    Next.

  7. I guess I am confused. You said you wanted to make lotion. Then it sounds like you bought a lotion base. I would be concerned that there is enough preservative in that base to add 1/2 to 1 gallon of other additives. if you used it without additives it would be way over preserved.

Also, adding other oils to an already manufactured lotion would not work in my opinion. Wouldn't the oil not mix since the lotion is already emulsified? Making lotion to me means buying raw ingredients and formulating. If I bought a lotion base I would add EO's or FO's and package. That would be the purpose of buying a base.

  8. My personal opinion and from experience is that they either buy from you at a show or don't and they do not buy from your website or whatever you have available later. Shows are a lot of impluse sales anyway. A lot of people just want a card and that is fine but I do not see sales from them. Why do I think they are going to order soap (sorry I don't sell candles) and pay shipping later when they could buy it on the spot?

As far as inventory - I carry way too much but I am always prepared. You just never know which show will wipe you out of inventory. Or which ones you will have to pack most of it back up and haul it home. You can't sell it if you don't have it with you.

  9. I have competitor that has logs with one bar cut off and displayed together. They are only for display and I have noticed that as the season wears on the logs are looking a bit shopworn in my humble opinion.

I personally do not have room on my display for a full log although I think it would help with customers realizing that I actually make the soap. Might have to think about how I could include at least one log. Hmmm.

  10. I am happy for you but that just p's me off....I ordered christmas cranberries in September and still have not got mine yet....I just dont understand how that is possible..

    Emily

Same here. I emailed and was told it was shipping this week. By the time I get it it will be too late to make soap for the season. I ordered Sept 30 and haven't seen it yet.
