I have an aquantance that sells Scentsy. I just recently saw her at our local fall festival...I asked her what kind of wax they use..she just told me it was food grade wax. She did not know that I make my own candles and tarts..lol. I did tell her and she stopped talking. lol.
I have been doing some research on this food grade wax that Scentsy uses. I believe it is Microcrystaline wax. I was at NG's site and reading the description sounds just like what I was told and what their bars look like! What is kind of funny, I came here and did a search on Microcrystaline wax and Scentsy were the main threads that came up! Hmmm... I will bet that is what they use.

I suppose you could try it..but for me C3 is fine all by itself. I use HTP and CD wicks depending on the FO. I also temper my wax before I use it and I always heat to 180* then add FO and color if you use it..(I don't)..then pour at 160*. I always get beautiful tops and cure for a couple days..some FO no cure. Good luck..keep us posted if you do try mixing 415 and C3.

Hi lmc..
Have you ever tried mixing 444 or 415 with the CBA? You would have to test the ratio for yourself, but when I was making candles and selling I also loved CBA. But Top always said no hot throw..and Top was right. Then I switched to 415..the best ht ever! I could not get a nice candle no matter what I did! I though hmmmm..maybe I could mix the 2 waxes to get the best of both worlds..but I never got a ratio that worked for me. I ended up with C3, and that is what I still use. I also love mottled candles and use a straight paraffin. I don't sell anymore but I love making candles so I am always playing. Hope you find what works for you!

I was wondering the same thing. A friend gave me a car freshner for my birthday..it does smell good..would love to make this for myself.

Have any of you noticed that their wax feels greasy? I've never seen a soy wax like that, maybe they came up with their own blend.

who has a good one? I ordered(quite a while ago) from JS and it smells just like fuel(kerosene) so I just accepted the fact that I am stuck with it. So the other day I needed some for a friends candle I order more from JS(hoping it will be ok) and the same exact smell! Fuel(kerosene)..do you think I should call or email to see if I can get something else or am I just stuck with it again? I will never order that particular scent from them again.

wow..those are nice! Like Stella said especially for 415! I used to use 415 and I tried everything to get my tops to even look as good as yours..no dice. I ended switching a few times until I landed with C3.
I love those jars..what kind are they? I haven't been on the boards in a while, gave up my business so am not as active here as I used to be. I still make candles though! My daughter is getting married next month so I need to fet into the swing of things again..lol
Good job! Kim

There are alot of factors as to why soy frosts..I found with me, it was the coloring,I found that using liquid it frosted even worse than with the blocks. You will have to experiment like CandyBee said.
I personally think your candles look amazing..even with the frost. Good Luck.

Do not order them! What a waste!

I hear ya Pristina..exactly why I did shut my business down! I had the perfect recipe..a great line that took me years to test the right jars, wicks and C3 has changed significantly! I do use 6006 for myself now..but I have a whole unopened case of C3 that is there if someday I feel like playing with it.I will never open my business back up again due to the economy and all my years of testing are gone. It is so sad for me. I will always make candles though..just love doing it.

Very nice color blue! What wax did you use? I love mottled candles one reason I used to buy Ya**** candles.

Really, really cool. Very stagmite-like. They remind me of those molding sands you pour in aquariums.
Yeah..I agree with that..really cool! I don't think you should give up doing something you enjoy..other people have their opinions sure, doesn't mean you should give it up! You def. have done something "out of the ordinary" and I think it's great..keep on playing with different shapes and colors..I think you could do well in the right market!MaybeIi will see you on the show "How did you get so Rich?" someday.

Hello...I have been making candles for 14 years and still sometimes have to fight with wax, wicks,fo and coloring! lol! I have found for myself that the C3 works best for soy and I don't usually color my wax and I use CD and HTP wicks..depending on the style of container I am using. I tested 444 a couple of times and loved the hot throw but hated how ugly of a candle I got, no matter how cold or hot I poured.(these are jars). When I did make votives I used straight paraffin...best scent throw and I loved the mottled look. Good luck..Not much advice just throwing it out there that I feel your anger!lol Patience is very hard to come by..I know! lol.
Good Luck...

I also used to make gel candles..I found that if you pour low and slow the bubbles are minimal...I do like the beaded candle alot! Nice work so far!:smiley2:
