  1. Kimmeroo what do you think of 6006?, This is the wax I use and I love the way it looks and I have got it to set up with little to no wetspots, I do temper my wax,(why? I dont know) but im just not please with the HT, I mean its ok but not like I want, I use zinc wicks which I do like but do you think it could be the wicks? oh im using 7oz elemental jars if that helps and maybe 6-8% fo

I only bought a slab of it and I like the look but not the HT. I am trying to use it up....mixing with 415..I like the mix but am sticking with C3 for now.

  2. What's your name?
    Kim

    How old are you? 47

    Where do you live?
    Upstate NY

How long have you been making candles/soap/whatever?
    Since 2003

How did you get started making candles/soap/whatever? Was looking for my Niche and bought myself a candle making kit and it blossomed from there.

Are you married? Yes...28 years in January

    Any kids? Yes..one
    daughter 24 and a granddaughter 4mos.

If candle making isn't your primary job, what do you do? I own a seasonal ice cream shop

    Anything else we should know?
I had gastric bypass surgery 2 years ago and lost 120lbs and feel great! I have a little pomeranian that will be 13 in February..I love animals too!

  3. I was looking around in my stash for some CD wicks and thought I had the bag of them..got the 14's and wicked all of my jelly jars, poured my candles(C3) and realized the next day that I used the CSN's! :shocked2: I have been burning a couple for testing and you would not believe how beautiful they are burning! No soot in sight..so far..and they are 3/4 of the way burned! One is Sugar Corn Pudding(no color) and the other is Frosted Pumpkin (JS..orange liquid dye).I just may start using CSN's for all of my soy candles!

Yes..I would buy CD wicks if CS sold them!

  4. Why not sell both for awhile and see which one is more popular? By offering both you may get twice as many sales. You can wrap your glasses in Cello with a pretty bow, and the customers can sniff the tins.

I agree with Horsescents..try both and see what moves the most. I used to sell tumblers with no lids..but I believe it was Lonestar sells the clear dust covers for them..:) HTH...Good Luck!

  5. Hello all:)

Recently I've decided to try GB 464; got the sample size.

I've had a hard time wicking this wax and so far have not hit on any scents that have a good ht or ct in it. I am trying to test using htp wicks,( also tested cotton and paper core, cd's with no success) a 2-3 in. round container, no dyes, no other additives; only time i smell the scent is when i add it to the wax at the time of processing. or when i remelt it. Pouring @ 165, tops come out fine. I try to test with no more than 1oz of fo at the time, but I guess more would be in order depending on the scent?

This link helped me alot a few years back! The link is located as a sticky on the vegetable wax forum in red..there is another one where everyone posts their soy blends. HTH!

TY BlackTie! This will help me alot..it is hard to peg what the people will like..I am starting off small and then I hope I can pretty much know what to make on a regular basis.

  7. Ah/re are the only ones I have tried and they Are both amazing- I use the sweet grass in my "horse whispers" blend- I use soy and they throw wonderful

This helps so much..TY Moonshine..Horse whispers..what a nice name for a scent! Do you make melts at all?

  8. Sweetgrass is a very nice fragrance. I picked some up from Southern Soapers to make a batch of soap for a friend of mine. But, they stopped carrying it so have been on the lookout for others. Good luck on the signature scent.

Moonshine, will have to pick up the ones from AH. Have you tried the Sweetgrass and Cedar? I like that 'Horse Whispers'.

    TY ProudMarineMom!

  9. I have been out of the loop for a while due to my other business..anyhow, I have a lady wanting me to do a signature scent for her..she knows exactly what she wants but I have never heard of two out of the three fo's she wants me to use.

1st fo she wants is...White Sage

    2nd one is Sweet Grass

I have the third one already.

TY in advance for any help on these. :)

  10. I am going to be putting in my first order with DS and was wondering if they offer the Fruit Loops dupe?

I am ordering Toffee-Sugar Crunch and Liquid Crack so far. Thanks in advance!

    Kim:smiley2:

  11. I use C3 and have for a few years. I have had some C3 look like yours..but I learned that it was the FO not the wax. I temper my wax( I heat to 200* then let cool to solid..then heat back up to 200*) I then pour what I need into a pourpot and bring the temp down to 185* add FO (color if you use it..I don't) then pour. I use a thick bath towel dedicated to candlemaking on the table and set my jars on this to cool. works for me just about everytime..unless I get a stubborn FO, one that comes to mind is Warm vanilla Sugar..it blooms everytime. Depending n the jar I use CD's and Htp's. I have been having trouble with the CD's lately..I get a black soot ring around the wicks on the wax...the Htp's don't do it. I just ordered some CDN's hopefully those will work better as they have a certain protective wax on them for the use in soy wax.

Good Luck and hope it is thr right wax..i have never used C1 so I have no clue about what that should look like.

  12. I've made that in the past using soybean Oil and soy wax mixed. Easy peasy. Just have to play to get the right consistency. I packaged in a HDPE or PET bottle with a squeeze cap.

Hi Flicker..I haven't been around much lately..this is an awesome idea! How exactly do you make this? Just heat the two and pour into bottles? sorry I am clueless..lol

  13. I have BCN's Fruity Loops in 4794 melts, a TP, a dipped bear, lotion, body mist and mp. It's amazingly accurate, no butter notes, strictly the cereal ! It hasn't morphed although I did use a lil VStab for lotion in the lotion just in case it decided to go weird on me. My BF had to snatch a pack of melts and take home with him LOL. You wont be disappointed if you're looking for Fruit Loops cereal.

Thanks Blacktie..I only shop the 3 places I stated in the beginning and BCN is one of them..so it is Fruity Loops? I will have to give it a try next time I order from there. TY all who responded!

  14. I did do a search on this fo and came up with a couple companies, but this was from 2008. I generally buy from JS or C&S, BCN occasionally. Can anyone tell me what the name of this scent is for 2012. I looked at JS and all I find is Fruit Slices. This is totally for myself..I was given this melt as a gift and would like to make more for myself.

    TIA...Kim
