  1. orange-cranberry, Christmas Splendor, apple jack & peel, winter spice, gingerbread, cinnamon-cranberry (anything cranberry). I know you don't want pine-type scents, but I must mention sugared spruce--LOOOVE that scent!

RWV who makes sugared spruce? I love pine scents this one sounds wonderful.

  2. I notice that with a lot of things, we have a small farm and I sell my eggs. I've had several people tell me that no way would they buy eggs that came out of a nasty chicken, they only buy theirs from a store.:shocked2: Funny because no way would I buy mine from a store, I know my chicken coop is clean and I know what mine are fed:cheesy2:

  3. Dixiegal, I can't possibly say she's an older lady because she looked about my age:laugh2:(mid-50s). Unfortunately, SOME people would call that older--I believe I thought so, too, 20 or so years ago!!

    Jane

    :laugh2:shes young! Mid 40s here:laugh2:

  4. I've been having a ball making these but now that its come down to packaging I'm drawing a blank. Same with pricing.

Do ya'll just price by the ounce? They just look so cute until I try putting them in bags then not so much. Anyone have any more creative way to package them? Mine are woods themes, pine cones, leaves, nuts, but I also plan on doing Christmas ones.

  5. Doesn't seem fair that scenty is allowed to sell at shows that are for handmade goods. Wonder if these sellers say they made them?

I went back into the store today to check on my stock. Same lady there. I didnt say anything to the owner, cause I just cant bring myself to complain jobs are too hard to come by in our area and I'm sure this lady needs her job too.

Any way, I said hi to her and she mentioned my tarts again and asked if I had any flowery smells. I had some Tuscan Blossom ( olive blossom )on the shelf and handed her one which she bought ( go figure, lol ) then she asked if I had any warmers. I just bought some from candlewarmers and had pics on my phone, she asked for a price I told her. She mentioned having some scentsy warmers and I asked what she paid for them, $35.00:shocked2: She bought 2 of my warmers, and asked if I had any candy apple tarts. Now mind you I'm happy for the business but why buy them if she didn't like the pumpkin? Oh she did say her sister and aunt sell scentsy

  6. I don't believe for one minute that one tart scents a 3,000 square foot house for a week.

Now, on the other hand, MY tarts can beat that:laugh2: I had a woman call me who had bought a few clamshells last year. She wanted to order some more and asked me how long she should leave the wax in her warmer before emptying it. I told her it depended on how long she left her warmer turned on--that personally, even though I know I shouldn't, I leave mine on 24/7 and usually change the wax every day or two. She was shocked--said she uses hers 24/7 also and uses a tart for about a month--and that she hates to pour it out then because it still smells good.:rolleyes2

Now we all know that can't be true and I was dumbfounded as to how to reply! I just said, "Wow, you're fantastic advertising for my products." Unfortunately, if she tells people that's the case and they buy from me, they're likely to be sorely disappointed! And she sure won't be a customer who buys much since 2 clamshells will last her a year!

I thought that conversation was hilarious and just had to pass it along to others who would understand and appreciate the absurdity.

lol cute story. Is she an older lady? I ask because my mil doesn't burn my tarts but she leaves them setting around her house and swears she can smell them unopened, lol. I would tend not to believe her but shes always wanting new scents when the seasons change.

  7. How rude of her. Plus, she's full of it.

I'm thinking soo too on both counts. She claims she put 3 tarts in her melter and still couldn't smell it in one room let alone the whole house. Doesn't bother me that she didn't like them cause I get the feeling she'd complain about any she bought from me. I just hope she doesn't bad mouth my tarts to people buying them.

  8. I've never tried one so I cant say for myself just how good they are. I got my first complaint today since I've been making tarts for a few years now I guess I cant complain. It's not that she didn't like it that bothers me as much as how she worded it. I sell at a local store and a few days ago gave a lady that works there a pumpkin pie clamshell to try out.

This morning I stopped at the store at a busy time there where people looking around and a few talking to her. She sees me and says very loud, "your melts are too weak." Then told me that she uses scentsy and one tart of their pumpkin scents her whole home for a week. She said she burns it in her back bedroom and leaves it on all the time and her whole house smells like it for a week. I said wow thats great and asked how big her home was, she said over 3000 sq ft. By now people are stopping what their doing to listen and really I was at a loss as to how to answer this. I smiled and told her I had never been told my scents where weak before and I was sorry she didn't care for it. The pumpkin fo I use if the bcn pumpkin pie close out and everyone else who has tried it seems to love it.

  9. The wax is kind of funny, I wil notice If I pour hot I will get alot more dimpling

but sometimes I can pour hot and a few look just fine.

And then If I wait and pour at a cooler temp, which I hate to do :tiptoe: Then sometimes I will still get some dimpling. Customers really never say anthing about it at all, I wouldn't worry.

I'm not too worried just takes getting used to seeing. Plan on pouring the rest of my testers today and if they all have the same HT I can live with it. :)

  10. First time using it today.

I was really happy with my other ky wax but they stopped selling it.Not at all happy about having to test a new wax this close to Christmas not to mention having to retest all my fall and Halloween tarts before I can sell. My inventory of old tarts is getting low fast, which is great but not when I have no idea how this wax is going to work.:(

Not crazy about the looks of the tarts but will wait until I burn one to judge. At least thats what I keep telling myself, its hard cause I'll kind of peeved about the whole thing right now. I have searched it on here and it seems many dont have any problems with complaints about the looks of the wax so hopefully it'll all work out.

For those that add soy, do you add it just to stop the dimples? I use 464 and was thinking of adding some, I think I read 25%?

  11. I got some from MC once b/c Alabaster was sold out and they were bigger than Alabaster's and I had a helluva time getting them closed. Aztek also has them and Cierra Candles is where I got the last ones I ordered (they are the same as Alabaster's). What I have found is to check the exact dimensions on AL's site and compare that to the other suppliers dimensions if they have them listed (actual drawing of clamshell with dimensions) that way I make sure I don't end up with the ones that are a devil to close.

Have you noticed that alabaster seems to be out of stock on a lot of things lately?

  12. Thought I had a box of them put back but didnt and Alabaster is sold out:shocked2: I have about 12 left:shocked2::shocked2: and orders are coming in for fall scents. Missed the co-op and tried BCN but for some reason can only order them by 12 packs which is crazy expensive. Can anyone recommmend another supplier? I tried the one that they used for the co-op but the price is out of my range right now.
