  1. Well, this is not good news! Her tart wax has always been clear....the parasoy container wax is cloudy though. I'll be busting in to my newly arrived cases in the next couple of weeks. She told me that she hadn't had time to "test" this round of wax. Hope that's not a code word for "this ain't the same stuff we usually get" :angry2:

I'm dying to try the wax from TCS....I just wish it were a parasoy :(

Both orders of mine where parasoy tart. 1st order was clear when melted 2nd was cloudy. If the parasoy is suppose to be cloudy maybe my 1st order was different. Testing a few tarts in the new order to see if I get the same results.

  2. O.K. I'm always up for a challenge:laugh2:Never made a candle in this jar (hope it's the same jar we are talking about) This is 464, no color, lavender Peak) CD12 and so far it's burning great. I think it's going to be perfect:laugh2:but who knows? I am going to test burn til it's dead:laugh2:Hope this helps.

Bless you soy it looks wonderful but then again maybe 464 likes you.. it hate me:laugh2:

  3. I posted this in another reply but I thought I'd start a thread for it too so you guys can see my results.

Fun experiment... I got out one of my warmers (this one... http://www.candlewarmers.com/ProductDetail.aspx?cat=38)

put in two cubes from a clamshell, put it in our guest room with a bathroom attached (its about 500 sq feet in total), left the door about half open, and left it on for five days straight (its actually still on)

I know its not the safest thing in the world but I was curious and since I'm always home I checked on it often.

End of the fourth day, it was still scenting the room. Its now day 5, and the scent is beginning to wear off. I can still smell it, but I have to go INTO the room, and when I smell the wax its not nearly as strong. I'll likely dump it in the morning.

I'm going to do the same with scentsy cubes next week.. and compare my results. I'll also do yankee if I can find some.. we dont have a yankee store here but they do carry them from time to time in our ULTA stores or at TJMaxx.

I had my husband and my kids check on it as well, and tell me what they thought of the scent as well. We all agreed that up until the end of the 4th day (last night) it was as strong as the first day. Thats 96 hours, but it was actually 94 by the clock...

Most customers (hopefully) are not leaving their burners on 24 hours a day... but I was curious to see what would happen.

I am genuinely interested in the results, and seeing how they stand up against eachother.

OH, FYI... I use Ecosoya PB, at 10% FO. This particular test was done with Clean Cotton from CS which one of my testers says is very close if not identical to a scentsy clean cotton/breeze type.. shes going to pick me up one of their clamshells of that scent for the test. We'll see what I come up with.

great test, looking forward to reading this thread. The 2nd day of your test was the scent just as strong as when you started. I'm starting to wonder if I'm just expecting too much from my tarts.. the first few hours they're run you out of the room scent almost the whole house, 8 hours later I'm not smelling them as strong, 48 hours later the scent is there, you can smell it when you enter the house or room but its no longer hit you in the face.

Just re-read your post and saw that you said 4 days as strong as when you first burned them. Mine weakens but you can still smell it.. guess I'm not expecting too much. Back to more testing for me,lol

  4. But I'm still wondering if overloading fo can have a negative result. The problem isnt with CT or HT its with lasting power. If we're putting in more fo than the wax can hold it looks like it could cause a problem, no? I'm just not sure in tarts what the problems could show up as.

  5. Oh forgot to ask.. those that where waiting on ky wax.. I got my backorder of this wax 2 days ago and heated some to test last night. The first wax I got about a month ago looked different than this wax.. this new wax when heated is very cloudy, the last wasn't. SInce this is the 2nd time I've got this wax I'm not sure which is the norm, the clear or the cloudy.

  6. Start testing this wax this morning most of my fo's are from bnc, bcs and ng. I'm a bit worried to hear it may stick to clamshells, makes me wonder how it will work for silicone molds since I use both. Going to try in a candle or 2 to see if I can wick better but I'm still hoping to get 464 worked out as my candle wax.

  7. Ravens ...

Thanks for the info! I do hope they bring back the Winter Night ... it must be fantastic if people are now begging her to do that ... lol! I would love to try a couple tarts. Is there a way to send you my address without making it public?

Where do I get these coffee bags you are talking about? Along with that, where do I get baggies to package my tarts? I know you aren't supposed to put them in Ziplocs but I went to Hobby Lobby the other day thinking I could get celophane baggies & couldn't find them there.

From Candle Source I ordered 2# of that wax blend you love so much, 6 or 7 bottles of FO, & 48 metal tart molds. I never used the metal tart molds before so hopefully I didn't waste my money on those. I live in Kentucky.

    Blessings,

    Shirlee

Good luck with your testing, mines suppose to be in sometime today. I plan on testing some tonight.

  8. I used to sell Scentsy until deciding that it is a rip off for both the consumer and distributor because we had to sell how they said, keep inventory while they change up packaging ect which burns their distributors not to mention the cost to the customer. I love making my own scents so started up again last month and am trying to convert my Scentsy customers by giving free samples.

The Pumpkin Roll Fragrance that is made by Scentsy is one of their most powerful scents and it does in fact work for an entire office building (that's what hooked me into selling the stuff). They only have a few capable of providing that level of scent throw but I have come up with some that are that good(if not better) also. Some people just like buying the popular expensive brand names. I agree with the earlier post that you should thank her for trying your products and move on to promoting your goods to others. We can't win them all but we can certainly try.

Glad to hear from someone that's used them. Does the same tarts scent that strong for a week?

  9. I use zincs & I LOVE them! It burns just hot enough to get a full melt pool each time & throw the scent really well. I use 51-32-18z in my 9 oz hex jars with 464. I have come across a few that struggled - CS Hansel & Gretel was one but I tried Peaks Gingerbread Cookies (which I liked better) and it does great! Wicking is SUCH a challenge! My main reason for loving the zincs is how they will stand on their own after pouring! NO WICK HOLDERS!

Thats the size I used in the 8 oz sq mason. I thought it was going to drown out ealier but it didn't, it got weak for awhile then picked back up and seems to be doing really well again. I do notice it seems to throw scent much better for me than the other wicks I've tried. Its a nice slow even burn. I'm hopeful:cheesy2:

  10. Isn't candle heaven nice:laugh2::laugh2:I am using a 464 blend with xcel and cd wicks. Are you using that 8oz square mason jar? I hate to rehash and bring back bad memories of wicking, but:laugh2:Did you try a cd 10 or cd12? Good luck with the wicking.

    Soy

I tried almost all the cd wicks except the huge ones up to 14 I think but it was way to big the cd 8 - 12 wouldnt stay burning , also the lx wicks, same problem either too small or too big, c wicks ( think that was the name of it ) and a few more I cant remember off hand. Yeah it's the 8 oz square

  11. I can almost hear its evil little laugh. For years I've been testing every wick I could get my hands on trying in vain to get a good burn with good throw with this wax in a sq mason jar and nothing has worked... I threw in the towel months ago and decided to be happy with tarts. This morning I was digging through my wick box and came across some zinc wicks samples I had ordered years ago and decided what the heck ...why not... found an old tester candle and threw a wick in it.

so far this thing is burning perfect.. that might change tomorrow on the 3rd burn but right now I'm on the second burn and the throw is amazing the mp is wonderful, the flame is perfect.. I'm sure now that I put this into words the evil wax will once again act up, but for a brief moment I'm in candle heaven.

  12. I haven't tried spraying the clamshells first (not sure what to use) to see if that would help but I have 50 of them sitting on the shelf right now and just haven't had time to get them unstuck. :sad2:

Guess I'm hoping they will do it themselves if I leave them there long enough. Been there about a month now....still stuck. You have to push them really hard to get them out. Just don't want my customers to fight with them to be able to use them. But they do smell good. :cheesy2:

I found that if I pull the sides away from the bar I can get them out easier but again just takes to much time.

Maybe spraying with pam before pouring would help with that. If the throw is good enough it might be worth the extra time to spray each one. I'm chomping at the bit to try this wax.

  13. I am selling about 300 clamshells a month made with the KY tart wax mixed with 20% 464 or C3. No problems with HT and get about 8- 10 hours per cube (clamshells) of scent time depending on FO.

Just did a show this weekend and had CS Pumpkin Souffle going and it was super strong.

Sold out of the 30 clamshells in that fragrance I took within a few hours. I do have some FO's that don't throw well in this wax but most do. Citrus FO's burn off the fastest for me. Just lots of testing to see which ones work the best.

I tried the Candle Source wax just to compare and it does throw well but is sticks like crazy to my clamshells.

I have 20lbs. of it left but I won't use it because I have to pull the sides away from every clamshell I make with it and it just takes way to much time. May be fine if your using them in the foil liners.

    Well shoot! I use clamshells.
