  1. Ok I got my box of pariffin wax today. I used a mini muffin pan and those silicone heart trays from Target. The tarts came out with tons of imperfections that they picked up from the molds. Like the muffin pan is a Wilton non-stick pan. It has sort of a speckled texture. The tarts have all types of tiny holes and dips from the pan. Same thing with the silicone molds. Am I being too anal? Are there any muffin pans that would make these come out smooth? I want the tart to be smooth and imperfection free like the tops. Is this possible? My soy wax and my soy blend, neither do this. They are nice and smooth. Help, lol!!
  2. I just read through the co-op rules and searched through some previous co-ops. I have a question. If I wanted to host a co-op, could I do it where you could get 4oz sample bottles instead? I realize it would be a lot more work on my part, but it seems more beneficial for everyone? I was confused and thought the co-op was to sample scents. Buying 16 oz bottles doesn't really offer much of a discount, it doesn't seem?? By the time you pay for the co-op fee and shipping from the host to you, where do you save? Am I missing something?? It looks like with the bottle cost included, a 4oz bottle would cost each person $4 (on $13.95lbs) and $4.50 (on $15.95lbs). Obviously each scent would need 4 people interested, etc. Could I do something like this? Is something like this even allowed? Thanks, Lisa
  3. I live in the same state as NG. I have to pay tax and shipping, but it gets here in one day. I'd be interested in hosting the co-op. Would I have to find bottles to split the scents? I'm not exactly sure how the co-op thing works. I have another business and we ship daily so that part would be easy. Thanks, Lisa
  4. Thanks so much for all the responses! I'm so use to a 9% load in my soy that 6% sounded way too low. All of the posts really helped. Thanks again!
  5. Hi DeeB! Ok if I'm reading the PIS correctly, the new FO load is 4%?? Will you post the response you get? Thanks!
  6. I read that the max load for igi 4794 was 6%. I thought that meant any more would seap out? When you up your percentage the oil doesn't seap out? Thank you!
  7. I ordered some 4794 wax from candlescience. I'm wondering those of you that use it, is 6% really enough? All of my oils are from KY, Snowtop and now NG. Any help is greatly appreciated!! Thanks!
  8. I've seen so many rave reviews about 4794 for tarts, that I've decided to try it and see what all the fuss is about. Those of you that use it who is your favorite FO supplier? Do most of the popular companies' oils perform well in it? Up until now I've only used soy and have been using mostly KY and Snowtop oils. I was thinking of getting some NG and ICS . . do those perform well in 4794? Also is 1 oz per lb enough with these oils? I like my tarts knock your socks off strong! TIA, Lisa
  9. Does anyone know if parafin tarts have to be packaged in polypro bags like soy tarts? I was at a local flea market today and saw about 1/2 dozen sellers with parafin tarts in ziplock bags. Am I missing something? I just assumed parafin tarts could have the scent sucked out of them too? Anyone know? Thanks!
  10. I know this post is old, but I thought I'd bump it up. I was wondering the same thing. The shallow tins have a much wider opening, so I was thinking of trying them. I use the deep tins now for wickless. Has anyone tried the shallow tins? Thanks!
  11. Are you all using parafin? I don't have much luck with their oils either. I'm using a soy/parafin blend.
  12. Thanks Trish! I actually did contact Jennifer, but haven't received a phone call yet. That was a few days ago. Maybe she is still playing catch up from the holidays! Thanks!!
  13. I found a template I want to use and am looking around on ebay for Frontpage. Would it matter what year it was? If I have a template, would the 98 version work fine? Thanks everyone so much for your help!
  14. Yes, but I don't have Frontpage. Is it hard to use? I know nothing about html.
  15. Or if you know of anyone you could recommend, that would be great too. Thanks!
  16. I currently have a website and want to purchase a new template to redesign my website. I don't know anything about html and do not have any of the programs like Dreamweaver, Frontpage, etc. Is there anyone on here that offers a type of service where they could help me redesign my website for a fee? I'm not sure if it would be hourly or a package price? Contact me if you can help me at mirabellamariebeautiful @ yahoo.com (omit spaces). Thanks!!
  17. Thanks for all the replies! Sounds like my candle just cooled too fast. I'll have to try warming the jars a little hotter and putting a box over them to cool. Thanks Ladies!!
  18. It's the Perfect Blend from KY. Vickey told me to heat the jars and pour around 150. I'm not sure why it cracked like it did. Thanks!
  19. I poured a candle yesterday w/a 70/30 soy blend. When the candle set up there was some cracking around the top and a crack in the side. I had heated to 185, added fo/dye at 175, and poured into heated jars at 150. Is the cracking from pouring too cool or too hot?? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks, Lisa
  20. Thank you so much for your helpful replies!! I would think it would be hard to make enough to cover the overhead. I get emails every day from my cosmetic customers pretty frequently asking if I have a storefront, but I just don't think I could make enough to make it worth my while. Thank you soooo much for confirming what I was already thinking!! Thanks, Lisa
  21. I was wondering how many gals on here had retail locations and if I could pick your brain? I have an existing successful internet based cosmetic company and was thinking of expanding into a retail location for the cosmetics, candles, and bath & body products. If you wouldn't mind answering some general questions like . . how long you've been in business? is it successful? did you build your name through craft shows, flea markets, etc before opening a retail store? would you do it all over again? Thank you! I appreciate any answers you can give me. Thanks!! Lisa
