Just go to show what I've not kept up with in 2 yr time span of not making candles ,soap to for that matter, but this week I've been in my work room everyday . Don't know if I'll purchase any ribbon wicks, I think I'd like to get a candle and see how it burns tho

  3.  Thinking about trying woodwicks, I read a review on some listed on amazon and the manufacturer suggests that theirs should be soaked in the wax for 10 mins before applying to the container. Don't know if that would apply to all brands tho, I'm just starting to do a little research.

  4. Hubby noticed that we had 3 bars of soap left, I said "we have another small  basket of soap (roughly 10 big bars), He said " but thats STORE BOUGHT soap."

So this sounded like a good opportunity :) I decided to order some FO's that were recommended on this board.

    From BCN:

    Country Clothesline

    Lime Leaf and Lily

    Pine Plantation

    Rosemary Mint

    Verbena Berry

    Old Fashioned Christmas

    Creme Brulee

All 8 oz bottles, I got tired of ordering 1 oz bottles and if I found I liked it, had to wait for a bigger bottle :)

So, I'm using some in soaps, but I've never fooled with soy wax much, thought I'd give it a try.

Has anyone used these scents recently?

  5. Hi there, its been awhile, life kind of got in the way, retirement being one of them :)

I ordered a silicone mold, shaped like mickey mouse head and its red.

Poured my soap, umolded---they came out easily, BUT the edges of the soap were stained red from the mold.  I rinsed the mold before use, is there

something else I could have done to prevent this?

was looking forward to giving soaps as gifts from this mold :(

    Many thanks for your help

  6. When something you enjoy doing becomes a chore :) its time to take a break.  You won't enjoy your soaping as much if you feel like you "need" to do it :) , you'll know when your ready to get back to it.   It might help to gather your ingrediants slowlly, put it all together a little at the time, I've done it that way when I felt like that, but its still gonna be there, so just wait to enjoy it when your ready :)

  7. I formulate my cocoanut oil spa bars much the same as others' have said. 100% coconut, high superfat, high salt. I love a good spa bar. Yummmy! 7 pawz, glad you found a formula that works!

Thank you, got a lot of knowledgeable people here and I appreciate the help :)

  8. Thanks everyone for the great suggestions :)

Candybee, you'll probably get to those bars before I do, post some pics :)

The Jar that I was given can be found at walmart, but if I were making bigger batches, I'd have to find a cheaper source :)

  9. This one is scented orange spice. I used my orange 10x with clove, cinnamon, and allspice essential oils with a little bit of honey FO thrown in for sweetness. I can smell the clove. It didn't seize on me either! Yippee!

    Pics in the mold:

    Beautiful! :)
