  1. I haven't tried a wickless candle yet. But I would like to. Sometimes I need to go out to get the laundry from downstairs and I feel uncomfortable to leave the candle going, but I don't want to blow it out, then re-light it when I come back up. How much are the warmers at wal mart? Maybe I'll try one from them. Also...Can you use a wicked candle on a warmer? Maybe that's a silly question but I never used a warmer before.
  2. I know that Partylite carries this scent in spring and summer I think. My sister has some of this scent from them.
  3. Hi there! I think that tiny jar is so cute. And I think it's a very nice picture, nice colors too. :smiley2:
  4. Well, there are some scents I like, but I wouldn't want them to be overly powerful...Like this one time, I got this big jar candle, I loved the scent in a tart, it wasn't overly powerful. But when I lit the jar candle, it made me dizzy and gave me a bad headache. Same happened to my husband and my mom. We don't know what it was...Was it just overly too strong? Or was there something else in that candle that was causing it? We don't know, but I think it's been tossed to the trash. Too bad because it was a little pricey... But that could be why some people don't want really strong candles. Or they just want to lightly scent their home. I like both strong and light candles. Just depends on the scents I guess.
  5. I have a bottle of some vanilla kind of fragrance that has some crystals in the bottom. I tried to sit it in warm water, nothing happened. Should it be hot hot water?
  6. Thanks for the reply Scented. No, I didn't add any vybar to the wax. I'll contact them and see about them emailing me specific instructions. I didn't think of that before...:embarasse
  7. Anyone?? I did a search, and found a thread about 'wrinkly' wax, and that it could mean there's too much vybar in the wax. I will try another one in a few days or so. And see if the same thing happens again.
  8. Today I made my first container candle with paraffin. I have a question. When the first pour was cooled, it was nice and smooth on top, just that it needed a slight repour. But, once I did the repour, and it cooled, it was no longer smooth. It looks weird, kinda like wrinkles in the wax. Not sure how to describe it. I didn't add anything besides fragrance and color. The wax is from genwax, and there are no specific directions for it on their site, and nothing came with the wax either, kinda weird...
  9. I am wondering, do you mix the fragrance oil and color in the presto pot before removing the wax from there? And if not, are you weighing it in a pour pot and then adding fo and color? I'm just doing the double boiler method, haven't had any problems with it, and I just do 1-2lbs at a time right now, just testing.
  10. Hi, I have some that I made in November that I never got to test until the other day, and it was sooo strong! I had to turn it off. I had been using the KY para-soy tart/votive blend wax for those. And the one I was testing was Baby Powder fo from Peak. I only used 1oz per pound of wax. And it was very strong.
  11. I also want to try them, they look cute. Are these liners shorter than regular or average cupcake liners?
  12. I just did a test on a jelly jar candle I made. It burned nicely! I couldn't test the scent throw, as I'm sick and can't smell a thing. But, for now, it's a nice candle. I'll have to wait to test the scent on it though. It's gingerbread cookies.
  13. Thank you all! I also have never smelled a cotton candy candle, or lotion or anything. Does it really smell like real cotton candy??? I am really curious to try it, because I made some Pink Sugar candles the other day, and while it was a nice scent, for me, there's too much perfumey smell to it. Well, maybe it's over powering while pouring? But I could really smell a cotton candy kind of scent in there, and that part I loved..but I'm not a fan of perfumey scents.
  14. Hi, I am looking for a supplier who has a really yummy, strong cotton candy fragrance oil. Oh.. I am currently using a soy container wax, but will also be trying parrafin soon too. Thank you!
  15. I am new to candle making, and have been playing with some soy waxes. But...I don't like the way they look after they have been burned, personally. So I ordered the parafin container blend from genwax, as they are closest to me. I know that soy wax needs a larger wick size than parrafin. I've been using the HTP wicks so far, and have the sample pack of those. For an 8oz jelly jar, I've used a HTP 104 sized wick, what would be a good starting point for that jar but with parrafin wax? Also, is there a cure time with parrafin wax like with soy?? Or just a day or so? Thanks for and advice
  16. That is terrible that they do that! My poor mom, she sent me quite a few boxes to me and my daughter when we were staying in Turkey, and she said that everytime she went in there to mail me something, they would tell her something different. My sister has a friend whos husband is in Iraq and she sends him stuff all the time. She told my sister to send it flat rate. They told my mom 'there is no flat rate to Turkey. They have different rules.' That sounds out there... But if they are pocketing all the extra money customers are paying, how without being short at the end of the day, or when ever they take it? It's already in the system...
  17. Well, here is a website I found, there's lots of plush animals there. I saw a lion.. http://www.giftbaskets101.com/plush_animals.htm Ah, here's a cutie: http://www.plushinarush.com/browseproducts/777---Wholesale-Stuffed-Animals---10--Cat.html I don't know much about dipping plush animals, do they have to be a certain kind? Or just anything will do??
  18. Hi there. I just found the genwax website earlier in the week, and I was happy because I must live about 15 minutes from them. I placed an online order because I don't know when I'll have the time to get over there...But, does anyone know if you can place an order online and do an in store pick up? I didn't see the option, so I'm guessing no. But it doesn't hurt to ask.
  19. Thank you all for the replies! I put in an order for the C-3 wax, I also did a search on here. And some little frosted containers too. I think I may do color free candles for now. I did one batch of color free blueberry muffin candles, (tealights and votives) and I really liked the look of them. I thought they looked elegant. But I love the fun look of color too. Anyways, going off topic there! I hope to get the wax before the weekend. Thanks again for the replies, I appreciate it.
  20. Hello there. I am new to making candles, and I got the KY para/soy votive blend. I liked it, and liked the look of the candle. I thought it was easy to use, too.
  21. I am looking for a container wax to try and found a supplier very very near to me selling this wax. How is this wax? Who ever has or does use it, please let me know how you like it. I'd like to hear what people think of a wax before buying it, I should have read what people had to say about a certain wax before I bought it....
  22. I'm also new to making candles. And I bought a beginers set from Micheals. I wasn't impressed with the wax, dye ot fo that came with it. But, I really did enjoy making the candles. And so I went and found this website. And lots of suppliers too! Too bad I ran out of scents to use... The wax is so lonely now...
  23. I love those, the color is just beautiful!!
  24. Thanks all for the tips! I just made some more, much better than my other attemps. I dipped the wick tab into the melted wax, stuck it in the center of the cup, then poured about half full, waited, and poured to the top. They look nice doing it that way.
