  1. Does anyone know if you can use liquid colorant (B&B safe) for these? I always use mica, but I'm out! Any idea? Thanks :)

Not sure about the liquid colorant. My first thought would be butters/oil + water = no mix. But don't hold me to that as I haven't tried.

I melt a few Jojoba beads to use in the bath melts.

  2. Just updating for those contemplating

A month later, the 1st batch is GONE! My throw-around bottle is still hanging in there...nothing seperating...still smells good & it's still nice & creamy like the master batch. I'm gonna leave it in my hot bathroom again for a few days then stick it somewhere cold & just abuse the hell out of it!

2nd batch was made around Xmas just for me. It'll get beat up too!

3rd batch is being made tonight. I'm going to pass that out to fam to abuse.

  3. Hello has anybody tryed fusion magic from Kangarooblue.com website and if yes how did u use it. I just got it and I'm going to call to see how to use it. Thanks

I have and I'm having a blast with it! I have my water cooling for my 3rd batch now.

KB & OT have some pretty decent recipes to start with. Of course, nothing is as good as it will be until you tweak a bit. The Fusion Magic (or fantasy cream maker or whatever other name it goes by) is VERY easy to work with. Although KB doesn't tell you, you should boil your distilled water and hold for 20 mins, then let it cool to room temp. And remember to sanitize your tools :D

I added my water to my oils mixed a bit, added preservative, then added the FM & mixed with a stick blender. If you follow their % guides you'll be fine.

Here is a link to my first batch & another member's made with "the stuff"

Have fun playing around w/ it!

  4. ...Then I took someone's advice (I think it was Prairieannie) to find a really good quality white M&P soap base and add your ingredients to that....

    It probably was PA.

I only use LS white & clear now. It makes my life easier, plus I like seeing how far I can go before I end up w/ soft soap :laugh2:

JacquiO, mix til your hearts content! M&P is so much fun & creative!

  5. It isn't super heavy. A big longer as well.

This one has 550W and 5 speeds. The seller I bought it from was ebay seller Dakmart. I found another seller- this is the model I have for illustration purposes.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/Wolfgang-Puck-550W-Immersion-Blender-Chopper-BLUE_W0QQitemZ310012572180QQihZ021QQcategoryZ20668QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

    MA, thanks for the link.

I looked up Dakmart & they have 1, but it's 200 watts & it looks different.

Now my NEW question: does wattage (is that a word?) really matter?

Geez, looks like I'm about to become a pain in y'alls arses LOL

  6. The best stickblender I've found comes in wild colors and is under 20.00 before shipping. LMAO! Mine is dark purple. It is a Wolfgang Puck- I will check the box for the torque on it. Multi-speed and the blades come out easy peasy. This sucker is the BOMB! Best SB I own~ but it is a bit heavy like the Kitchenaid.

I bought it on eBay. I'll look for the seller and post it later. :)

I believe it comes in red, pink, black, cobalt blue and forest green.

    Is heavy bad?

I always tend to lean toward KA as far as counter top appliances b/c that's pretty much all I've ever used. But 30 bucks or so sounds good to me too!

And I'm such a dork! I got a another whisk attachment & bowl for my KA stand mixer off feeBay to make body butter with...never occured to me til now to try that w/ my lotion.

So yeah, get that link posted woman! :D

  7. No more excuses! KA immersion blenders are VERY nice.

I use a $10 Walmart 2 speed special. I've worn the name off of it, so I can't tell you want brand it is.

And yeah....you need a separate one for lotions. I have two. Wanna know what I just found kicks major a$$ for lotions/creams??? A stick blender with a whisk attachment! OMG...it so freakin' rocks!

Hehehe I can send you some lye......I have 50 lbs. What's your address and I'll send some to ya! (IN a flat rate box if I have to!) Donna

Ooooh that's good to know. I was at KA's site & the SB w/ the attachments was what I was looking at! And that's what I thought also...LOTION!:yay: I've been using the one I have for lotions, but I can only imagine how fluffy the whisk can make it.

Now I'm off to price compare.

I'm good on the lye. One of the many nice members here is getting a box of goodies (incl lye :yay: ) ready for their new home.

Where the heck do you keep 50#'s of lye???

  8. Well, y'all know how it is...the addiction NEVER ends! Always something new to conquer. All I need is some lye & a flat rate box and I'll have no more excuses as to why I can't possible try CP

(HEY SIS, ARE YOU READING THIS?

    :laugh2: )

Do I really need a fancy smancy SB w/ lots of different speeds or is an ordinary 2 speed (hi/low) good enough? Do I need a seperate one for lotion & CP? I've got my eye on a KA immersion blender.

    TIA

  9. beau's mama, I was contemplating the WS shea, but didn't order it. I may try it the next time. Do you use it in the CME?

    Steph

You can if you want, but you only really need the CME with it if you're using fo. I had this grand idea that I could get away w/ just the shea, distilled water & fo...DUH! Nothing to emulsify/modify the fo so it kinda just floated. But the shea & distilled water works just fine if you want an unscented hit of moisture. The CME is actually pretty darn good w/o any extras.

I'm about to come full circle w/ my body spray experiments. I have one more thing to test/play with but it looks like the CME will be back to #1!

  10. You might want to check out this thread re: soapandthings.com, post# 4 before you consider them

    http://www.craftserver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43178&highlight=jody

If you do a search for Jody, soapandthings.com and Jody's soap & creations (I think), you may find more. Seems she/the company is a little strange sometimes.

Her bases & SFIC bases are different as far as ingredients goes. I only use SFIC from Peaks (now). Their prices are pretty good (I think so) and shipping is always prompt & fair.

OK, I didn't answer your question LOL. Just thought I'd give you a heads up on s&t.

    Sharon

  11. I just placed my first order with them for some CME and a few other things. The site said they weren't fullfilling orders until 1/6 and I just got a notice for shipping that it went out today! I can't wait to try it.

Just wanted to add a company with great customer service!

    Steph

Yep, and Jen is great, no matter how many times I ask the same dumb question 50 different ways :laugh2:

I think you're gonna like the CME.

I hope you got a bottle of that WS Shea :rolleyes2 ;)

  12. Thanks everyone. I did the warm water bath thingy, and the crystals did dissolve...then I noticed that the crystals were surfacing to the top of my soap mold after I poured the soap :shocked2: . Thank goodness for M&P! I let it form a skin of crystals & just removed it.

This fo is so damn awesome I don't even care about the extra trouble!

  13. I thought I'd dig this up. This is a supplier that I, personally, don't hear much about but folks need to know be reminded that she's around.

I placed an order around 2am Wednesday morning. Now, I know this is the Holiday season...USPS is busy, suppliers are busy w/ end of year stuff, everyone is busy. I figured I wouldn't see my order until (hopefully) sometime next week, if I was lucky. Would you believe I got my order today? :yay:

Like Sock mentioned, she doesn't have a huge range of products, but the prices for the small quantities I need are great & well within my budget. And those sampler sized containers...too perfect (for me anyway)! The bottles I received were very inexpensive, but not cheap & flimsy. Perfect when funds are limited. AND, the shipping is straight up on the rocks w/ no chaser...always a HUGE plus in my book! No waiting & wondering...email was sent promptly, so communication gets a  too!

I'll definitely be doing more biz w/ her in 2008.

Boy, it feels so good not to be fussing about a supplier for a change! LOL

  14. I use cyclo & FCO & ship them USPS all the time. I asked them about the FP regulations and was told that once it was mixed/diluted it was fine to ship :undecided Of course, if you go to YOUR PO they'll tell you something different.

USPS Parcel Post is an option if you don't want to deal w/ UPS. It travels ground so FP isn't an issue...or so I was told.

  15. Just an update for those interested.

It's been a week now, no seperation yet. I left my throw around bottle in the car during the snowstorm. It didn't freeze, but it was VERY cold & VERY VERY thick! I let it get room temp & it went right back to normal. Seems the scent got stronger in that bottle for some reason :undecided

  16. Just wondering if anyone has tried

    http://www.aquatech-skincare.com/htmls/bodycare.htm

their sample packs include a bunch of products with shipping included!!!

Just wondering if they are good products?

I've tried the lotion sample pack. What drew me to them was the ingredients they use, especially the preservatives. They were OK, but just didn't quite do for me what I wanted in a lotion. I need good slip, slide & glide w/ a soft powdery/silky dry feel after, and there's didnt cut it. I was pretty new to B&B at the time, but if I had known more, I could have, maybe, done more with it.

Give them a try, though. It may be what you're looking for. They give pretty nice sizes to play with.

  17. All my FO's are in a fridge on 1.5. None of the others have ever done this. It's TSW's Amour de Cocao. My veggie oils solidify, but never my fo's, not even the pure vanillas.

I know it's some kind of crystalization, but I'm wondering once it thaws out, will it effect my FO? It smells fine, but this is just weird b/c it's only at the bottom :undecided

    TIA
