Call the CC and have them do a fraud check. I believe they can freeze the card until they track down the owner and get a verbal explanation. I think that sounds very suspicious.

If the "C3 crack" is fairly shallow, let the wax harden for a few days, then you may be able to rub the circle with your thumb to make it disappear. There will be a slight indentation left, but if it is shallow, that's not really objectionable IMHO. HTH
That's exactly what I did. A warm finger can ease the cracks so they're not really obvious. Heat guns will frost that sucker something FIERCE. IME, heatguns and dyed C-3 don't make a pretty candle.

I was not happy with HTP in C-3. Streaky sooting and crunchy wicks... ick.

I always wick for the bottom 1/3 of the jar/tin. This is when most problems occur, ie wicks too hot & mp too deep, jar too hot & can shatter glass. If there is hangup, it should be taken care of in bottom 1/3 burn. Carole
Agreeing with this- if the container is narrower at the top, it will hold heat in that will melt off any hangup toward the bottom when it burns hotter. You will have to wick slightly higher than you normally would for the narrowest part, but nowhere near what you would wick for the widest...

Sometimes it looks like grains of sugar or salt (big grains) on the tops after burning. Hard to explain, but not terrible looking either. I haven't had any real problems with frosting.
If you have people wanting a soy only candle, 464 is an awesome wax- super easy to work with. You could always just get 10# to test... and watch out, CandleScience's fragrances are da bomb!

Thank you! I have Raspberry Guava on my must try list!

Now GB (or GW) 464 isn't the same as Joy wax. It has no paraffin in it, so it will frost some and after burning I get some crystalization on the tops. Candlescience WILL be getting a parasoy blend, but 464 is a soy only blend.
Just wanted to clear that up! And yes, they have great quality tins and glassware at Candlescience. And a heads up, if you're placing an order, leave a message in the "notes" section and tell them which FO you'd like a free 1 oz sample of. You have to ask or they won't send it!

OK, if you're in Hampton, DEFINITELY use CandleScience as your main supplier. They are 3 hours from you and hands down one of the highest recommended suppliers on this forum.
They have GREAT fragrances, are rated in soy and they have a great selection of waxes. They are getting a parasoy blend soon, but I think you'll like 464 too. Great adhesion, great throw, burns easily, pours hot, smooth tops, no additives needed. Some frosting on deep reds and blacks. It behaves very much like Joywax.
AND Candlescience has awesome prices on wax and a REAL shopping cart that figures delivery charges (and their prices are so good that I order from them over a closer supplier and still come out ahead!).
-Kristi
oh, and if you end up using 464 and someone asks "is this soy" you can say yes as there is no paraffin in it!

Scroll down to the end of your thread and there may be some like or similar threads to help with the search.
Anyone notice that the ironic thing about this is that one must START the thread first?

Well, that answers that question... where are you? Could you drive to Durham? CandleScience is supposed to start stocking a 70/30 parasoy soon. Also, Tn Candle Supply is great too- they're in Jonesborough. Aztec is in Knoxville, but they tack on handling fees... :rolleyes2
And I've used Joy too, and GW 464 is very similar in pouring temps and behavior, only there is no parrafin... you might want to test that one too...

Joywax is a parasoy blend, so something with soy, parrafin and additives would be close. Joy is a closely guarded secret though :rolleyes2 so no telling what all will be just like it.

They have my favorite spiced cranberry. Love it.
Yuzu was a little weak for me- but it's AWESOME mixed with the spiced cranberry!
Palm Island was a little too palm-y for me... not fruity enough, but a good strong scent.
That's all I've tried from your list.

yeah!!! Once you get that jar wicked with one scent you really do have a starting point and a ballpark and can test future scents with confidence!

Ummm, "when you stop making candles" is the quick answer. *faint*
LOL Ain't it the truth. Ugh. The worst is testing a scent you hate in a big container. ICK.
I think you'll like 464. I get smooth tops pouring at 150-155 degrees.

While 464 is somewhat similar to C-3, I found that 464 doesn't frost as much, but the biggest difference is the melt point. Wicking is very different. I found 464 much easier to wick.
Yes, Aztec does sell 464. They also have awesome prices on tins... The handling fee I'm not so wild about. Since I only buy one case at a time, it's cheaper to have it shipped... and with the handling fees and higher cost vs candlescience, it's cheaper to buy it from candlescience.

I raised them because of the shipping increases. I was doing discounts for buying multiples (5/$20 for 4 oz tins, 2/$15 for 8 oz, 2/$25 for 16 oz), but have stopped those... now 4 oz is $5, 8 oz is $8 and 16 oz is $15. Just no getting around it. I'm hoping prices will be able to hold steady there, but I may be looking at another increase by fall.

Actually now, similar threads are listed at the bottom of each thread- just scroll down for a selection of similar conversations!
And for the record, I used c-3... it was OK, but the bubbly burning and frosting drove me nuts... but the biggest reason I stopped using it was because 464 is MUCH cheaper to get here. I never had a problem with c-3 and scent throw. In fact, the throw was better than with 464.

I also felt that the Strawberry Rhubarb Pie was a bit too light. I have people who love it, but I warn them that it's NOT a fill the house kind of scent.
If you think their Caribbean smells like Bird of Paradise, you'll hate their Bird of Paradise- just a warning! The only three scents I've gotten from there that I did NOT like was Bird of Paradise, Merlot Wine and Peony. Ginger Peach was a bit odd too... fakey peach...
But everything else was pretty good- and I've tried a TON from them...

OK, I'm almost to the bottom of my extra red and black dye, heavy spicy mulberry 16 ounce apothecary with a single wick (cd 22, 464). No sooting! While this works GREAT, you MUST trim the wick down fiercely after each burn. There is some mushrooming, but more than that, the wick kind of unravels as it's burning and the ends stick out. NEXT time, I'm not dyeing the candle so I can take pics of that... with the dark dark burgandy/eggplant color, I'm not able to take good pics of the wick post burn. It left a glazey residue on the sides of the jar (not unusual with 464 anyway- it doesn't leave the glass totally clean), but no hangup. I did normal length burns of 4-5 hours every time, but lost track somewhere exactly how many burns it took to get to the bottom (sounds like a tootsie pop commercial).
IF I could guarantee that a customer would trim the wick to 1/4 inch EVERY time, I could sell this. I'm going to have to experiment what happens when people don't listen though (cringe). I will post pics soon, but didn't take any at the beginning (it burned perfectly to the edge by the time it was down 1/4 from the top).

I have Raspberry Guava and Fresh Pear on my list of things to try from there someday... let me know how those do!

So are you looking for someone who sells it as 464? Try CandleScience in Durham, NC, Aztec in Knoxville, TN or Alabaster in Jemison, AL. They all sell it and TBH, unless I'm buying many cases, I just pay the shipping- it'd cost more to go get it. I usually buy from CandleScience as they have a lower price to start with and then no handling fees (Aztec has handling).
-Kristi
-
I don't know of anyone relabeling this one.
Joywax is a parrafin and soy blend, so I can tell you for sure it's not that.
I buy it as 464 and know of many places close to me that sell it labelled as such. Never heard of it with a different name.

I also have a bad habit of not keeping notes and losing what I do write down, so I will purposely post somewhere all my details so I can go back and search for it later...
And I've used it too.

I would just list it as "2.5 oz net weight".

Requesting reviews on several scents - Lone Star and NG

I have NG's Bird of Paradise and I don't like it. I think it has a plasticy smell too it that gives me a headache. I DO have customers who LOVE it, but when I run out of oil, I'm not reordering. I do have a sensitive, musk FREE nose though...
