hmm I will have to try the oven route too. What I normally do is use our tap water. Hubby has our water heater set real high so that I can clean some of my wax just by melting it away with the hot hot water. (not a ton of wax just a little) Then what I do is, while using rubber dish gloves, I hand wash each one. Sometimes I use a little bit of mold cleaner, but not very often.
But boy does the oven method sound a lot easier.

Thanks everyone for all your input whether it was good or bad, I really appreciate it all!

Hey Fire!
I just wanted to let you know of another place that you can buy labels in bulk plus get great prices. Check out www.kraftwarehouse.com if you would like and hopefully you can find your stuff there. HTH

i done a mix of sage & cinnamon and it smelled real close to the scented page from the yank** catalog. i used 2 parts sage from bulkoils and 1 part cinnamon stix from millcreek. it's great.
GREAT Carol! I will have to try this!! Isn't that scent yummy!

I guess with many posts lately with ppl thinking they mastered candle making in 2 weeks....we would be more jumpy!!!! cause those are the ppl who gives us a bad name!! while we are working our butts off and living on ramein noodle soup to make it right....lol
Dani
Took the words right out of my mouth! I think that is why I am kinda on the defensive side. I have been doing candles for quite some time now, just a new member not a new candle maker!
Sorry if I came across a little snippy! So I am not the only one mis-reading things!

I find that it all depends on the FO. I have had some last for days and others only seem to last hours.
I agree. We carry some scents that will last only 15 hours (of course this is all at one time) and some that seem to last 24+. It all depends on how long they burn them too. Now the ones that last 24 and on may not be as strong as when they first started but you can still smell them.

no way....she didn't sell candles and not test...lol I've gotten few of her candles and they're WONDERFUL!!!!
what she meant is.she always brought from one supplier and now seen all these posts bout raves on Just Scents oils..she took a leap and brought some of Just Scents oils by the lb without testing her candles with SAMPLES...(like some of these posts are saying)... for first time and is going to test them and so on....and hopes to get Great Results and mainly get lucky with them.
Sorry Ami, I had to jump in and defend ya...lol :highfive:

Thanks Dani!! I appreciate it! :highfive:

AmySue, what program do you use for your labels? I have print master gold and label factory...I got them both out yesterday but really didn't get anywhere with them. I've always done hang tags and I wanted something different. Any advice? Ginger
I have a Mac and I just use the Drawing program that came with my computer. All I did was play around with it until I got it to work.

You sold candles you didn't test? Kinda confused here AmySue..
No I would never do that! I bought sample oils...didn't test them yet...bought more as in pounds of FO to make them. Haven't sold any yet!
I am not stupid! I always test test and then test everything! Hopefully this cleared it up! lol
-
I certainly hope you tested those samples in candles before you bought more. I thought they smelled good oob, but I never got any cold or hot throw from any JS oils.
What type of wax are you using?? I am hoping that this is not my case however this is the first time that I took a leap of faith and didn't test. I know I know :rolleyes2 But I had a ton of people say that they were awesome. Yes, I could definitely pay for it for sure. My punishment for not testing! Ugh!

Oh it was so yummy! I had to reason with myself actually talk myself out of buying the 22 oz candle!
I will now be watching SOS and IFS like a hawk! lol
Also I have a great cinnamon, but am very leary about straight sage. lol
Oooooo I can't wait! Thanks for all the help everyone I appreciate it!

Don't be scared to make your own label! I do mine. Now I know some like them and some don't, its just a matter of your own taste. I am sure that if you love it that is all that matters.
Just play around with a few examples and place it on CT and we will give you some constructive critisim (sp?). lol

Okay this weekend I ventured into Yankee Candle Shoppe. Just to take a peek at what is new and what they are coming up with. Am I the only one that does this??
Anywho while in the store I fell in love with a scent, not sure if it is new or not since I haven't been in there for a long long time. lol
But the scent is Sage & Cinnamon!!
Anyone who loves to mix oils, know how to make this lovely scent, cause surely its not just any old Sage and any cinnamon, right?
Hmmm...all I know is that I am in love and can't wait for that dupe to hit the market!

Okay a few days ago I posted a thread about running out of ideas for fragrances because I usually get the same ol same ol.
Well many thanks to all of your suggestions, I decided to try my hand at Just Scent.
I purchased 20 samples and fell in love with 13. Which that is great considering I normally don't have the best of luck.
So I just placed my first order with them and will be adding shortly the following:
Snickers Coffee Blend
Cranberry Spice
Whipped Vanilla Creme
Blueberry Cheesecake
and have more to come....oooooh I am sooooooo excited!!
Thanks again everyone! I really really appreciate it!

Hmm I would say a beige color. Although my Apple Strudel is a red. But then of course that is different. LOL
-
I wouldn't be so hard on yourself. I really think that patchouli is a aquired taste. I have had a ton of people request a patchouli of any sort so I purchased a Vanilla patchouli and didn't care for it at all.
I just must not be a patchouli type of gal and won't be adding it either!

Boy does that sound fishy!! However on the bright side he did buy a candle! But I would be extremely curious as to if anything comes from it. Keep us posted please!

Autumn Harvest
Twigs-N-Berries
Clean Cotton
Home Sweet Home
Lilac - Not a fall obviously but I can't keep it on the shelf it is a favorite of so many that they will buy all year round.
-
Its a great scent for my customers, however like posted above it is a seasonal scent. You may find some that are die hard cucumber meloners but the main selling is spring and summer. HTH
-
Oooooo I love the swirls! And Peppermint! Your after my own heart! TFS
-
Selling it as unscented is way better than tossing the whole thing! The swirls are awesome though...too bad you accidentally forgot!
-
Oh the anticipation of your very first show! I still get that way at the begining of craft show season!
Take a big breath and I try to tell myself not to sweat the small stuff! Just think about all the people that you get to delight with your products and all the business cards you will hand out!
Good luck and post on how you did!!
-
I like the second one the best! TFS

They look great and I bet smell even better! TFS
