  1. I agree, buy a sample pack of the wicks you are interested in, or the easiest for you to get and try them for yourself. Zincs are a cool burning wick and not always the best to use in soy. It will also depend on what FO and the wax you are using as well. Right now I use 3 different HTP wick sizes, depending on the FO's. And that is all for 1 jar size. As far as wasting wax and FO; when you are learning to make candles, you will do a lot of that if you are testing properly. :)

  2. I'd also like to add, it helps on the first time, if you spray them lightly with something such as Pam spray and wipe out the excess. If they stick on ya, just pop them in the freezer for about 4 or 5 mins, then they usually slide right out of the cups and off the pins.

    added: there isn't that much space, really. Just enough, to get the wick up through it. It doesn't matter if there is a little space, when you burn it the first time it is going to fill in anyway.
