Well I was thinking that was what possibly happened as well. Because it smells a bit more fruity and to me it didn't have much of a fruity smell but the scent description says
It does sort of smell a bit like cherries and some other fruity smells but definately no vanilla. The soap came out beautifully. This is like my 4th or 5th batch so I'm pretty happy with the results.SERENDIPITY - This is a super sweet concoction that will totally win you over! Sweet, thick, creamy vanilla with -confectioner?s sugar sweet cherry, sweet orange citrus and the tiniest amount of yummy fresh coconut. This is a rich and wonderfully decadent sinfully sweet delight! Bath and body safe!! YOU WILL LOVE THIS!!

I have a questin about fragrance. I used Serendipity from Just Scent in a CP recipe. I couldn't find anything that said it worked well in CP only that it was soap and bath and body safe. So I figured I would give it a whirl.
I think I added it a bit to early. If I did add it to early is it possible for my scent to change? It doesn't smell bad but it doesn't smell like it did when I dumped it in.
What do you think?

Also do I have to use milk as my liquid? Can I use goats milk instead?

Well I attempted to rebatch. Mine was sort of a brown color but it was that color when I started and somewhat thick. Hopefully it wasn't burn't. Guess we'll see. I did this one in the microwave.
When you say the slow cooker how long and what setting is the soap on?
Thanks

Those are absolutely gorgeous! Might I ask how did you do those swirls?
-
So the microwave method is kind of like M&P except you are adding the milk to it? Now what sort of consistancy shoud the rebatched soap be?

I had a batch of soap I made a few days ago not turn out so well. I'm new to cp soap and I have never rebatched. I was reading a bit and noticed the microwave rebatch method seems similiar to melt and pour. Am I understanding this correctly?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Is it necessary to add stearic acid?

Live and Learn!

I learned how NOT to line my mold. Soap oooozing everywhere! I was able to save most of it. I wrapped a towel around the mold. However it was definately a mess! I attempted swirling again. Last time I tried I don't know what I did but the soap was ruined. This time I mixed the colors in a bit of the oils. So we'll see! I'm new to CP so I'm kind of learning as I go.

I love this scent and I went to the JS website to see how it did in CP well all it says is it's bath and body safe. Has anyone used this in CP before?
Thanks

I actually just ordered one myself. But she also noted this on my invoice:
Note:Hi Kelly,
We at Misty Creek will be taking a long vacation beginning in May, and would like to wrap up our outstanding invoices. If you are still interested in purchasing this item, please let us know.
Thanks, Aimee, Misty Creek
So if you want one you better order very soon!

I have a pink sugar that didn't turn my white M&P brown. I made this at least 2 months ago and it's still as pink as the day I colored it.

Ok I came up with a little concoction of my own and the properties of the bar are as follows:
Hardness: 42
Cleansing:17
Conditioner:52
Bubbly: 29
Creamy: 36
Iodine: 58
INS: 154
Ok first off what does the iodine do? Secondly what is INS?
Looking at these properties what rage do I want these numbers to be in and what excatly do they mean?

Coconut 10%
Palm 10%
PKO 15%

Castor 10%
Avocado 10%
Shea Butter 5%
Hardness 36
Cleansing 16
Conditioning 58

How do you come up with the values for hardness cleansing and so forth? I'm new to CP and need all the info I can get!

What is a soap planer?

Thanks for the compliments they are very encouraging. I started out with M&P back in Sept 06. I like it but I think I like the CP even better. Almost to the point that I may just keep doing the CP. I appreciate all of the info I can get.
You're right I'm not even thinking about water discount since I have never heard of it before.
Currently I have tried 1 recipe and I used it for both batches. The only difference is the first batch was much smaller.
http://www.pvsoap.com/recipe_sheasoap_washcloth.htm
I plan on trying out some different recipes and in the future creating something of my own. I love experimenting! So far I have learned to make M&P, now CP, Lotion, Body Spray, Room Spray, Body Butter, Bath Butter and Sugar Scrub and I am not using any bases except for the bath butter. I really am enjoying learning all of these new things!
Thanks Again,
Kelly

I am very new to this myself but I was told .7 to 1 oz per #.

Well I made my first small batch of CP this past friday and I think it turned out ok.

I made my second batch today and I hope it turns out. I think it will but since this is only my second try I'm a little leary. Just newbie jitters I guess. There are pics of that in the link too. I will post more pics after I cut it.
Since I am new to this can anyone direct me to images of problem soap. For example what does it mean when you say it seized up on me and what does it look like. I just want this for reference.
I have seen lots of photos of some beautiful soaps but now that I'm doing this myself I want to see soap that I don't want if that makes sense.
Thanks
