  1. Thanks sheryl, I did not know if you could paint over soy or just paraffin. I saw somewhere where this lady was brushing over a white candle unless she may have dipped it first then brushed the top to make it look burnt on top. At any rate, it looks smooth and like it had cinnamon or coffee in the wax. I wish I knew how to send a pic on here to show you. I bought one of the candles a while back. I could call her shop but not sure if she will share her secret, lol. The candle was finished off with a ribbon at the top and a wood/painted hang tag (sheep). If you know how I could send a pic on here let me know, and I will send you a pic of it. Thank you so much. Deb
  2. Hi, I just purchased some of this wax but have not tried it yet. Will be using it this weekend and let you know. I bought the wax for embeds and interested in seeing how that will look/work out. Have a good nite. Deb
  3. Hello, I am wanting to paint a candle with wax but not grubby style. I just want a thin layer of brown colored wax with spices springkled in it and brush ovr the white candle to look rustic. Is there a method of mixing wax with a thinner or some other way to keep the wax from getting to thick while painting? Hope someone can help, been searching for a long time. Thanks all. deb
  4. Hello, I am also new to candle making. Sure is an adventure. I am slowly gettting supplies and keeping track of costs to purchase. I live in the midwest (Illinois) and have found a couple places in Illinois but they don't always have everything you are looking for. Maybe we can help each other. diinman@yahoo.com

  10. Some wax I have had shipped and still trying to find a store in my area where I can pick up bulk wax. It sounds like I should keep the cost of wax, etc. and figure how much wax it takes to make pillars, votives, embeds, etc. I also thought I would look at prices online for what they are selling candles for in my area. Thanks so much.

  12. Thanks so much for your warm welcome and tips. I will check out the sites. I realize it will take time to learn but I am very interested. I may need to check out for any classes in my area. I am sure that would be a great help (which I need, lol). Thanks again. I keep you posted, lol. Deb :smiley2:
  13. Hello, Hello everyone. Newbie here. Just learning so bear with me. I am trying to find where I can get a beginner candle kit at a reasonable cost. I am wanting to make the rustic/primitive candles and use the silicone molds for gingerbread men, etc. and fixins. I love the ones I bought and really want to learn how to make them myself. Are the rosehips made of wax also or any tips on how to make your own? Thanks everyone and have a good day! Deb
