  4. Well I'm busy with the questions tonight. However, I had to finish up some J-50 I have and was using 1.5 citrus spice scent, and noticed that i have air pockets when I started to do my wick testing. During the cool down I did the relief holes and I still feel the pockets when I stick a schewer down in it. Problem is its in the middle, how can I fix this. Also, I have the same problem with citrus basel, (8 oz jelly and 9 oz hex. This batch ws wicked and three relief holes around the wick. What should I do???

  13. Ok After years of testing and building stock I finally had the guts to do craft shows. In the past two months the base craft store had two shows and I did very very well (no competition at all + large community). However, the best news came last Sunday when we did the show and had several repeat customer. The lady next to me was one of the teachers on base and that week the school was holding a christmas market for the kids. Fortunately for me, they underbought supplies and was looking for consignment gifts. So she asked me if I could leave candles. I left close to 12 boxes pluse tarts and warmers. To my surprise I didn't have to bring that much home come the end of the week. Finally, that same day the base craft store asked me to put my candles in the store on consignment starting January. Looks like all the money I invested is starting to Pay off. Oh I forgot to mention that my wifes German friend asked for an order of over 30 candles which her and her friends wanted. I'm just glad that things are looking up, now my DW don't complain when I spend money on supplies LOL.
  14. I use 50/50 J223/4786 and have excellent results, There are a few Fo's that do burn fast but not many.
  15. Thanks, added a couple of pounds of just wax and it's burning like a champ. Thanks.
  16. Please help!!!!! I've almost given up one last shot. Can anyone suggest a wick for a 9 oz hez jar using j223, 1.5 oz Fo. I've tried everything from a 60z to 14Cd to a lx28 and I still get a poor melt pool with a weak flame. When I used the higher wicks It starts out flickering then some light smoke. but as the time goes on a a small pool starts teh flame goes very weak and I barely get a 1/4 pool depth. Any help? Could I double wick.? I really never heard of this with a 9oz but I'm at my end...... Thanks Tim
  17. This was the only mix I used, and I loved it. Like breanna stated let it cure and it was awesom. 9 oz hex were pretty tough to wick with this though. However, that could just be me. Good luck.. Tim
  18. OK I'm still having problems wicking the Sage and citrus candles (j223, 1.5 oz/lb, 8 oz jelly and 9oz hex) It seems every wick that i put in drowns. for the 8 oz I'm up to a 51Z and it drowns, and does not have a descent pool all the way out. for the 9 oz 60Z's same thing. On the 9oz it starts out looking to big a little smoke then after a pool developes it the flame weakens. As for the 8 oz I've tried a lx 18, and I barely get a pool. Any suggestions? Also, leading me to believe I'm not testing properly. How long should you give the candle to see if you get a descent melt pool. On the jelly jar and 90z I've be doing 2-2.5 hours, Should I go longer. Any suggestions or Ideas will be greatly appreciated Tim
  19. I'm having difficulties wicking sage citrus with J223. I'm using 9oz hex jars and 8 oz jelly jars. I've tried all the 44Z on the 8 oz jully htp 83, cd10, any suggestions? For the 9 oz hex I'v used 51Z CD10 and with CD 12 it smokes a little. Any help. Oh yah I used 1.5 oz FO. Any suggestions will help. If I use LX wicks where should I start?? Tim
  20. I had this type of jar and was using J223, What I found was the FO had allot to do with it. Howevr, for the majority 44-32Z's worked and for the hevier cd10 worked pretty nice. Hope this helps,
  21. Has anyone ever used J123 or J50 in jelly jars or 9 oz hex jars? If so can you tell me about your experience. How's the scent throw hot, cold. I'm used to a 50/50 mix of j223/IGI 4796 and am afraid to switch. However, due to circumstances I may have to (temporary). Also, does anyone blend it with other wax if so what and what percentage... Thanks Tim
  22. I use this for 8 oz jellies and I use 1 -1.5 oz No more cuz it will seep. As for temp I heat to 165-175. Then I pour into my pour pot and add scent, then stir till I see that it is mixed well. At that time I add the color, (I do this last cuz it's difficult to see if FO is blended well with color in) Of course, thios is personal preference. With J223 I found that it's better to heat Jars, and let them cool slowely in a box to LIMIT wet spots. As for help I believ this board has a good section in the Basic instruction site. Also, read the tip section of this message board. Hope this helps
