Thats one of the reason I am trying to move my site.
As far as how hard it is. Maybe yoursite was not hard to move but are sites ARE hard to move. You have to move all of the software, the databases and then you have to install it all again, edit the configure.php files and pray to God you didn't have errors in the database or some other files. I have attempted to move it as well as having three other code writers attempt. Two said they couldn't do it and I have one person working on it right now...

if he is using oscommerce all you need is a database backup and you can move your domain to a new server. I dont know anything about him or what he offers or what he charges but to not hav cp access or ftp access is asking for trouble. if not then there are programs that will let you download the site fom the browser but then you would have to enter them all in a new database. Anyone collecting cc info defiantley needs access to their database and the host should not have it.

I could if you have the login info for your domain. Either control panel or ftp. You would really need ftp access to move everything into the root public_html directory.

photoshop has tons of video tutorials, books and also tutorial sites. Google photoshop tutorials. Photoshop is second to none for most graphic artists, although it is a bit tricky to master you can do anything with it once you learn how. For simple labels or borders on pics try mgi photosuite if its still around.

having your store in a subfolder definatly affects your rankings. Having your store in a subdomain does not. The reason is a subfolder meaning http://www.yourcompany/store/ is ranked lower and http://store.yourcompany.com/ is ranked as an added domain to your domain and is the same as having in a default folder. You can also put oscommerce in your default folder and have an index.html file if you want to go to a homepage instead of your store. index.html will load before index.php on 99% of servers. If the other person is not able to help you pm me I havent used oscommerce in a while but it isnt that hard to change he config file.

I would definately consider a shopping cart that can calculate shipping for you and get the money at the time of the sale.
uch more professional and doesnt leave room for second thought.

as long as your going to be doing some brushing up and since you are using notepad you must be somewhat familiar with coding you may want to check here http://www.doknowevil.net/litebox/ I use a script like this alot for the site I design. Click on one of the thumbnails and it will open it in a css layer instead of popping a new window. if you get stuck pm me I will help

I wouldnt accept any returns without an RMA (return merchandise authorization) it is quite common and by making them get one you know what is coming back and why.

I did mine in Photoshop, but it's not a user-friendly program for me ... so there's a day of my life I'll never get back!!

photoshop is alot more user friendly than it used to be. it is expensive though so most people dont buy it unless they feel it is user friendly. I know they offer the free trial but i really never understodd why. It surely isnt point and click or for the beginner. I used to use a program called mgm photosuite or something it was sorta like a user friendly photoshop. Knowhere near the power but point and click.

So how do you get to the top of google and eBay? I assume it would cost big $$$ and even if you do the pay per click ads that is not guaranteed exactly where you will end up.
Actually I know how to get on the homepage of ebay for pretty cheap. It was a marketing thing I bought and it works. Think it cost me 20 buck or so for the pdf file I was just shocked I never thought of it.

I would change your page names if I were you. Specially with that many pges. notice your jar candles page is http://www.tinbarncandleco.com/3.html I would make it /hand-poured-jar-candles.html or something of the sort. It will work better with the search engines. I would also do some reading on what the search engines see. Because your whole top page is all calling scripts which in m y opinion the designer could have combined alot of for the SEO value alone. Usually search bots give relevance to t he first 255 characters or so give or take depending on the bot. Look at your sites source and you will see what I mean.

I had a friend bring a glass block over to show me. Very pretty just a hole drilled in it and a small strand of white lights thrown inside maybe 35 lights or so with a ribbon and bow. The block layed down like a package. She paid 25.00

I would open up style.css and look for this

This way when you hover over the menu on the right the text changes to green when the table changes to yellow. Sorry if you new that I am not sure how familar you are with the css. I like the design though.

You can try paypal website payments pro. It hasnt been around that long but I think 30 dollars a month and includes virtual terminal to call in and plus process credit cards on your website instead of paypals etc.

I am not sure but I know where I work we ordered about a million dollars in raw materials right before new years. LOL with no idea where it was going to go when it arrived. It wasnt finished product but it was materials to make the finished product. The boss said why give the irs anything you dont have to.

If you live in NJ try here http://bank.commerceonline.com/information/locations_hours/index.cfm they are located throoughout the state. They have different accounts for small business. Usually the will work with you and are open 7 days a week. I also have a debit card with co name and my name.

is there a Connies's Candles & Crafts or just connies candles and connies candle supplies? If there is no Connies's Candles & Crafts I say go for it. However you may need to contact your accountant and find out if you need a DBA from your name to Connies's Candles & Crafts.

Google can be your friend. Try reading up at http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/?hl=en for some helpful info. As far as ad campaigns or promoting your business, it should be treated like any other advertising medium. If you have a candle store than promote it yourself by optimizing for google or hire someone to promote it for you. If you were just a hobbiest who enjoyed making candles you would have articles or a blog and related links that would help you. I would just come to terms with the fact that everyone (80% of online users) "google it" it has become the new phonebook.

both bryce and poser are used for 3d rendering. More suited for short commercials or maybe flash advertisements. I thiink you can accomplish what you are looking for with a photoshop artist. 3D rendering is not cheap at all for a quality model so i seems like it could be a waste on a label.
