It isn't "greenwash crap" and using a straw man argument to support your claim makes it seem like you don't understand the core of the argument which is why I jumped to the conclusion that you don't believe that the problems posed by greenhouse gasses are actually problems.

Greenwash is very different then Greenhouse...

Greenwashing (a compound word modelled on "whitewash")' date=' or "green sheen",[1][2] is a form of spin in which green PR or green marketing is deceptively used to promote the perception that a company's policies or products are environmentally friendly....resourced from Wiki

A greenhouse gas (sometimes abbreviated GHG) is a gas in an atmosphere that absorbs and emits radiation within the thermal infrared range. This process is the fundamental cause of the greenhouse effect.[1] ...resourced from Wiki

I don't know where you got confused...Greenwashing goes on all the time, its deceptive and manipulative and purposely used by many vendors including candle vendors who use unfounded scare tactics to sell their products. I personally like soy and use a healthy amount of it in my candles. As far as soy being renewable we all know it takes a lot of electricity, fossil fuel and chemicals to farm, extract and hydrogenate to create soy wax, all of which produce greenhouse gases. As far as using something that has been in the earth for millions of years, if you think about it the earth was a much more pristine environment at that time. There was no man made chemicals or pesticides or garbage dumps, or leaking sewage in the water table, and lets not forget all the medications that get flushed down the toilette that people took and now seeping into the ground water, many of which are estrogen mimics.

What it comes down to is we all need to do our part as much as possible to reduce our carbon footprint and in the end we can only hope that it is enough to prevent the runaway greenhouse effect that is going on right now.

  2. Diamonds, rubies and emeralds are not released into the air, they are an inert material that has no bearing on the climate. Apples to oranges. I guess if you don't believe in science though it would be easy to dismiss the problems greenhouse gasses pose.

I understand what you are saying and you are certainly entitled to your opinions and just for the record I never said I didn't believe in science. But clearly there are more serious issues contributing to greenhouse gases then what wax you are burning in your candle.

I agree that the Yankme employees should probably have a working knowledge of the wax but I'm sure they are more worried with the bottom line of their store and reaching their projected finanacial goals everyday.

  3. I'd love to do something like this--is there anything available to make the pegboard free-standing? I know a footing could probably be made rather easily, but I have no skills at all and DH has no "round tuit"!! I have another show coming up the weekend before Christmas and would love to try this. I currently have a free-standing spinner rack with 10 rows of spinners, so everyone is crowded around in one place. And for this show I paid for an extra half-booth, so I think I would have room to use something similar to this.

Thanks in advance if you know what to call this so I could search for it.

I don't remember what isle in Home Depot it was in but they were showing it as a way to hang your brooms and shovels on the wall using the hooks made for hanging. We got 2 of the extra long hooks and put them in the back so that the peg board leans back on it, you have to bend them a little to make it more supportive but it seems to be working, I hope that makes sense.

@Jackbenimble...thank you, I used most of the images from my website which I got most of them from istock.com. I may have bootlegged the LBD one but I don't think there are any copy rights on Audrey Hepburn...at least I hope not.

  4. I always have loved looking at what you make Isbennis. Your clamshell tarts look VERY professional...the labels are gorgeous. And your display colors of the pink and green are so inviting. And that pegboard for $6.00 is perfect...what a nice hubs to find it for you. Mind would say...I can make one for you and then 5 years from now I'd still be waiting. He has such great intentions but not much follow through if it's something for me. Now...if it's what he wants to make or wants to do he gets on it immediately.

Thanks Maggie for the kind words...:) I had been asking the Hubs for a while if he could help me with that and I think he was relieved when he found something that required no cutting or making of any kind on his part...lol. But it was a great find so have to give him credit for that.

  5. I don't have big displays at my shows, I usually have one 6 or 8 ft table and I have been struggling trying to fit everything on. When I was at Home Depot the other day the Hubs found this plastic peg board for $6 all I needed was to buy the little pokey things to hang the clam shells on and I was good to go for less then $10. I have 2 rows of 4 here but you can easily fit 3 rows of 4, it gets the clam shells up off the table and easy to view. Just thought I would share...:opost-4600-139458489893_thumb.jpg

  6. Does anyone know if Mr. Missy's Cedarwood Patchouli is B&B safe? I can't remember if it ever was or not and there is no indication on the bottle. I have about a pound of this left and would love to make some soap with it but have no idea if I would be able to use it for that. Any help is appreciated :smiley2:

  7. Wow!!! Those are beautiful!!

Could I ask what FO you use for the sexy mountain men soap, if you don't mind sharing?

Thanks everyone, I hope someday my soaps will be as great as what I have seen on here but for now, the HP is working...lol.

As far as the Sexy Mountain Man is concerned this will be his last year unless I can find a replacement for him. I'm currently using Berts Aspen mixed with Berts Redwood & Cedar but I have only enough left for maybe a 2lb loaf :sad2: so sad that we can no longer get her oils. So now I will be on the hunt to replace my SMM with another scent.
