  1. I was just reading these suppliers web pages

    http://fragranceoilheaven.com/

    http://www.justscent.com/

and would like to know if any one has any experience with them.

I currently buy from Natures Garden, Soycandle.com and Bittercreek North.

I am very happy with them but I am always looking for new scents. I have discovered that every supplier is different even if they all carry the same scent it will still smell different.

I never knew when I got into soy candles that scents would be one of

the biggest cost factors, but I have to tell you I love buying them because

my house smells so awsome from them. Evertime I make candles I get a wonderfull scented home and thats not even burning them.

I would be interested in any of your scent supplier recomendations also

since I am still new to this and learning. This board has helped me a lot with new ideas already!

  2. lsbennis--- I have been using the new GW 444 and I love it! I get mine from Melissa at www.soycandle.com If you have any kind of problems she is the best for customer service and their prices are very reasonable. You can also talk to Jason the manufacturer of this wax , hes very helpful to. It takes a litlle getting used to the little minor irratations of this wax but once you do you will love the outcome. Just keep the heat gun handy. I went to a business the other night with them and sold 50 candles. The throw on mine is very good. I also like to use 1 and 1/2 ounces of fragrance per pound of wax. So my candles smell great hot or cold.

    I guess I am just a soy fan:D

  3. Hi folks,

I wanted to chime in on this too since the reason I am now doing candles is because of Candle Wealth. The lady next to my booth at the flea market sells candle wealth and tried to recruit me since I am on oxygen for COPD (to many years of smoking) and these candles did not irritate my breathing like paraffin does . I was looking for a new product to sell.. I actually researched Candle Wealth heavily, especialy since I dont like MLM pyramid companies. I however am a good researcher with the internet and google. I found all the main suppliers and I was fortunate to

find this board searching the net. Because of what I learned I avoided Candle Wealth totaly.

LauraAndrews---- You stated that their wax is reasonable at 1.50 a pound and their FO's at 8.00 fpr 4 ounces.

If you had done your homework you can find several major suppliers of wax and Fragrance oils for a lot less. Their selection of oils leave a lot to be desired.

I will give an even better example of Candle Wealth VS Doing your own, the Candle Wealth lady who hooked me on soy still sells in my market on Saturdays only, I sell my candles on Sunday and guesse what ? I out sell her every time! Why ? Because I have a better product and I did my testing and I buy the best fragrances you can buy along with a really good wax which is totaly better looking finished than their NV Soy Wax. Now dont get me wrong I am not bashing them but I think ,, no I know that I do a much nicer product and I test test test! Something they dont even tell you to do.

Oh and for all you paraffin folks I would never knock your products either , I just get all congested around it but its still a great product . I just happen to love Soy:cheesy2:

I also really love this board since I have started reading and learning here my candle sales have really increased . This place has such a wealth of knowledge to offfer not to mention some pretty darn nice people too!:D

  4. Ooooooh I'm kinda scared saying that I love soy wax the best amongst all you paraffin users but its true and I like Golden Brands GW444 the best!

Its a great container wax. Just to make you all feel better,,,I also like paraffin candles too since theres a lot you can make with it that you can't do with soy.

  5. SilvermOOn I use the GW444 and have the same problem. I use the 8 ounce jelley jars. I have poured at the recomended temp of 130 , tried it at 140, 150, 160 and even 110 and still the same problems. The best thing you can do is keep the heat gun handy. I try pouring a little extra in the jar because it helps fill in when you heat up the top and poke relief holes. Ah-Soy mentioned cooling temps and he has a point but since I live in a small condo and have to work in my kitchen and really need my air conditioning cause its really hot in Florida. I havent tested cooling in a totaly warm area. That might just do the trick but I really dont know for sure. The only other way to fix this is save some wax from your first pour and do a second fill in but thats a pain in the rear end. All that said this is still a good wax with a nice hot throw and once you zap it with the gun it comes out really nice. You might want to talk to your supplier too as they might be able to give you some ideas to help with the problem. All things considered this is a good wax once you gets used to its little irritations.

  6. SilvermOOn, I get my wicks from www.soycandle.com .

You can actually call Melissa and she will give you recomondations. She just

sent me some cotton wicks which I havent tried yet. They are so helpfull there. The Golden Brands 444 is working good for me too , just keep the heat gun handy though beacause your gonna need to smooth out those tops with air pockets. OH and MC didnt reblend their 444 ,, the manufacturer Golden Brands did. By the way Jason at Golden Brands is another helpful person on the wax itself. Its kind of nice to be able to talk to the manufacturer.

  7. SilvermOOn, have you tried the paper core wicks? I tried the htp wicks and didn't like the them. I am using the Golden Brands 444 wax making 8 ounce jelly jar containers and they burn great with a nice melt pool and a pretty good throw. They burn nice and hot ,,you do get some mushrooming though.

I think every supplier is different just to confuse you. I know I was till I found a supplier who was a big help to me in recomending the right wicks and even sending me free samples to experiment with not to mention I get my wax from them to.

  8. Snapdragon2 ,, You really like their Sulty Angel? It sounds intriguing. I just checked their website and they are really pricey. I buy scents from 3 suppliers but this one sounded interesting. Is it really true you only have to use half and ounce to a pound of wax because i am currently using 1 and 1/2 ounces per pound. My candles do smell really good with that much scent but I could save some money if I could get by on half and ounce per pound.

  9. I just received 15 new scents from Natures Garden and Vanilla Pear is one of them. I love it, of course I love all their scents that I order, well except for black cherry bomb. its way to strong. But the vanilla pear smells awsome in my soy candles I made today. You must have got a bad bottle because mine smells like vanilla and hints of pear.

  10. I am using the new 444 version and I still get air pockets and sink holes at every pour temp I have tried. However a heat gun fixes this right up and the finish is really nice once you zap it with the gun. It also has a great hot throw for me. Cold throw is so so. It really depends on the FO you use I guess because some of the scents do have a good cold throw.

Mellisa at Soycandle.com has it very reasonable but shipping is a big ouch!

  11. Hi Dana,

I just got my scent order in from Natures Gardens yesterday and I ordered

Mcintosh Apple along with 14 other scents. Its great! In fact I have not been dissapointed with any of their scents yet and I am using about 30 of them so far. I also use Bitter Creek North for scents and their stuff is awsome too.

Soycandle.com has good stuff too, I like their cinnamon bunns best.

  12. I use the 32 oz pyrex measuring jar and the tin pouring pot. I love my Presto and would never put anything in it but wax. I mix my dyes and FO's in the pour pots. When im done with that batch I wipe them out with a paper towel and off to the wash. You guys are right about the wax cooling and building up on the pyrex though as I have to work a little harder to get it clean. One other thing I always forget is that even if you melt the right amount of wax for a pound I always forget the scent actually weighs an ounce. Since I do 2 pounds pouring at a time I always forget this and end up with extra. I use soy wax.

  13. If you have an Old Time Pottery near you go there. They have great jars at good prices. A great source for mason and jelly jars is Big Lots , plus they have the new pumpkin jar in for only 2.00 wich you cant touch anywhere else if you figure you have to pay shipping. Walmart is also another good but limited source for jars, I buy 2 styles from them. And last but not least is the Thrift Stores! You will be amazed at what you find there. I get some wild containers from Goodwill and Salvation Army.

  14. Natures Gardens has a big selection of scents and their great in the soy candles plus their very reasonable on pricing. I also like BitterCreek and for an excellent Cinnamon Bunns I use Soycandle.com. Stay away from Ebay as I made the mistakie of buying some from there and it was really diluted and weak.

  15. These folks are my main supplier also. They are the best folks in the world to deal with. They carry Golden Brands Wax which is awsome, I use the GW444. Melissa is super to deal with. I also get my cinnamon bunns scent there too. They are one stop shopping for everything you need except for warning labels and wick stickums, but give them time and I am sure those will turn up there too.

  16. Thanks JULWID for posting the info on the pumpkin jars! I shop at Big Lots 2 or 3 times a week for my 8 ounce jelly jars, they have the cheapest around at 6.50 a box of 12 and they are my best sellers. I was lucky my big lots had the pumpkin jars with the hats, their so cute that I bought 50 of them. You cant get them online that cheap with shipping, in fact I couldnt find anything like them online. So once again thanks for tip. Folks If you want a bigger pumpkin jar check out OLD TIME POTTERY. They have them for 1.99 but they are roughly a 2 pound container which makes it sort of expensive to make a candle with that much wax.

  17. Hi folks,

That craftlister.com site is great! heres another site that might help you too.

Now most of these I found that you have to join but their still good sites--

    http://www.craftsfaironline.com/Listings.html

    http://festivalnet.com/

    http://www.artscraftsshowbusiness.com/index.html

    http://www.artandcrafts.com/

    http://www.artandcrafts.com/

I hope this helps you some. I am looking for some reasonable craft shows to do in my state (Florida) also. The big ones are all so expensive.

  18. Hi Folks,

Just thought I would add my 2 and 1/2 cents worth. I am selling soy candles at the flea and farmers markets now and I had a lady dip her fingers in my burning candle this weekend. Well you can imagine my shock at this, I mean is this a stupid thing to do or what! As shes doing this shes telling her friend how good this is for your skin. She did end up buying 2 candles from me (because mine smell great) I can brag a little right? The long and short of this is according to my best friend who is a licensed doctor working for the United States Goverment , They use hot wax for arthritis patients to dip their hands in as its therapeutic. However its not like sticking your fingers in a burning candle which is so stupid. Plus the wax for that contains no scent what so ever.
