  1. Has anyone used this color chart?? http://www.gellycandle.com/ColorChart.html I tried to make pink and mauve this past weekend that did not turn out the way I expected. For the pink I mixed 3 drops of red and 1 drop of blue and got a dark purple color. For the mauve I mixed 4 drops of purple and 1 drop of yellow and get an even darker purple. I was testing in 4627 but would like to mix these colors for b&b products. Any clues what I did wrong?? Thanks.
  2. I tried adding candle dye to the FO/DPG but it didn't work
  3. BCN and C&S both have them. I want to say Greenleaf has them too.
  4. I do the same thing. I have one pot for container wax and one for votive wax.
  5. Not sure if this is new or not but I discovered last night that a toaster over works good for heating containers and votive molds. I make all my candles in the kitchen and use my oven to warm my containers and votive molds. Yesterday I was cooking and needed the oven but I also wanted to make some testers with the 4627 I just got. While trying to figure out how to cook and make candles at the same time I spotted my unused toaster over and through hmmmm. I test with 4oz JJ so the container being to tall was not an issue. (I'll deal with that when I get to it). I used the lowest setting (about 200) and cracked the door open. WOW it work and very well too.
  6. I haven't voted yet because I'm still testing waxes. So far I've tested IGI6006, IGI4360, J223, J300, a blended container wax by C&S and I'm currently testing IGI4627. My opinion is all of them have great cold throw but I haven't found any to have a knock your socks off hot throw. So far in my testing J223 is winning. I'm still testing 4627 so the jury is still out. I use quality fragrances and test in 8 oz. JJ with 1 oz. pp. I have noticed during my testing that I get a better hot throw at my office vs my house. Not sure what is up with that but I just can't seems to get any of my candles to give me a throw at home. :rolleyes2
  7. Jane, you have nothing to be sorry for. I'm still learning and soaking all this up like a sponge. Thanks :highfive:
  8. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. You might want to start a new thread with this question since this thread was about container wax.
  9. My oven doesn't go below 170 and thats what I heat them too. I put the molds in the oven when I first get starting melting the wax and leave them in there until it is time for me to pour in them.
  10. I got my sample of 4627 and I was surprised at how soft this wax was. I had to actually use a large spoon to get the wax out of the bag. I made up 3 - 4 oz. candles last night. The colors were nice and rich which I liked very much. The cold throw this morning was very nice. I used 4 oz of wax and 1/4 oz. FO. Wild Watermelon, Juniper Breeze and Spiced Cranberry. What is the cure time for this wax? Jane, I've had a lot of problems with votices when I first started making them but have finally got them worked out. I use 4794 to. What temp are you pouring at? I heat my wax to about 190, add FO at 185 and pour around 170 or 175. I've never had any blisters on the tops of my candles but pit holes were a different story. I conquered the pit holes I also warm my votive molds but I think that is more a personally preference.
  11. Hi Everyone. I've been reading this board for over a year now and have found a lot of good information but this is the first time I've posted anything. I've been making candles for almost two years now and can't seem to find a wax that will give me the hot throw I've been looking for. I just order a sample of IGI 4627 and have a few questions. I've done a search and can't seem to find the information I am looking for. What is the max fragrance load for this wax? The web site that I ordered from has two different amounts. One place on the site says it can hold 1.5 oz. fragrance and then in another part it says it can hold 2 oz. For those of you that use this wax how much fragrance do you normal use? I also read the pour temperature of this wax is 175-185. Just wanted to check to see if everyone is pouring at this temp or do you have better luck pouring cooler. If you have any other tips or suggestions about this wax please let me know. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
