  1. I have a craft show in October and 3 possible fundraisers. For the fundrasier I would only offer 1 size jar and trying to decide how many scents to offer. Since it's close to holiday season the scents I have in mind are all bakery or wintery scents (approx. 10). Should I offer any year-round scents as well? For the craft show I hadn't planned on offering any non-seasonal scents but wondering if I should and how many of those? So for fundraisers and craft shows how many different scents and # (seaonal and nonseasonal) would you offer? Thx!

  2. I've wicked mine days later when I need to make a bunch. The only thing you have to be careful of is warm wax filling in the hole after you pull it out of the mold and let it cool. I'm impatient and pull mine out probably too soon at times. If this happens I just heat up my pin with a heat gun and redo hole. HTHs.

  3. I sell different things but NO. 1 seller is candles. Really about 80% so I would have no problem doing a show one week and another the next week. Just might have to make a trip for more supplies to get the certain fragrances I want. I make about 120 candles for each show BUT if I see a certain fragrance sells more than others I make more that night or make sure I make that FO for the show the following week. Really though I carry alot of different FO's at shows and it amazes that people buy different and not the same ol' same ol'. You never know. They turn down what you think would be a seller. This year I was shocked about Lavender and Lilac. Had those before at same shows and couldn't sell it. It was bakery scents then.

I would do shows every week BUT the only reason is they are work to set up and really long hours IMO. I prefer the simple 1 (12 hours)day get it over with, go home and rest. Instead where I live the shows are 2 and 3 days, 12 hours a day. Sunday sometimes they will close earlier.

Do you make 120 candles for 1 day shows or weekend shows? I have my first upcoming show which is 1 day from 9am-4pm and not sure how many I should make...just trying to get a ball park for what others do. Thx!

  4. I've been at it a year and only have sold to family/friends. I think it depends on when you feel you've mastered that candle. Last year I only sold one size container candle. This season I'm hoping to sell rustic pillars, bakery pies, votives and melts too. For me it has been a slower process than what I imagined.

  5. This is an all-in-one mold in a 5" tin using GL's 50/50. I got a little crazy on the cinnamon but not sure how to wick this baby. My first attempt was a 51z down the middle and it burned out in 6hrs. I'm thinking 2 or 3 wicks but not sure what size due to the height of the pie. Any thoughts?

  6. Wow, I don't recall hiring you to work for me, so maybe... just maybe... you should not be tossing around accusations that I "pocket the rest" after UPS charges me $5 to ship a box. I know for a fact that I have N E V E R shipped a box to ANYONE for that cheap. And if I had, I would not be charging them $10 for shipping.

Obviously, you think USPS is the way to go... OH WAIT! Now I remember why I use UPS to ship Fragrance Oils... I do not feel like going to JAIL or paying a TEN THOUSAND DOLLAR fine. Read this:

I am not going to break the law for anyone, just so you can save a couple of bucks while I put myself and my business at risk.

As I have said over and over again, and as other people have also said, shipping prices per pound drop dramatically after the first pound of product is in the box. So yes, it is going to be expensive if you want only a few ounces of fragrance oil.

By the way, in the end I LOSE money on shipping when everything else is factored into the overall cost. I have to buy boxes, packing materials, tape, labels (not to mention having all that stuff shipped to me and paying that as well) and assorted UPS costs, not including fuel and everything else. I am sure you don't care about any of that though.

Normally, I am a nice guy, but I do not apprecaite being attacked and being made out to be someone who is out to take people's money. I have been in business for many years and go to great lengths to satisfy the needs of my customers. As they say though, you can not make everyone happy, and there is always going to be people out there that whine and complain about everything.

Wow, after reading this dripping in sarcasm response I seriously doubt I'd buy from you. Showing your ugly side for sure. IMO, very unprofessional response.

  7. I friend of mine bought a 'soy' candle that looked just like this and I was baffled as well (last year) and then realized they must of blended the two (palm & soy). But they also made sure to list it as an all natural soy blend which of course the 'natural' part is more than likely palm. I haven't dinkered around with that either but may...it's purty!
