  1. Ok so I decided to use a drawer for a slab mold... researched the the size and volume, came up with a recipe. Realized after I poured it, that I miscalculated the water and was exactly 2 oz. short. I do a 33% discount and this was almost a 6 lb. batch. Is it gonna turn out?

  2. I just started making M&P, but did alot of research before I tried it and read to only pour when the temp is 130 -140 degrees... are you pouring it when its too cool perhaps? Are you using a thermometer? Sandy

EDT: Pouring at these temps is for layers, I believe.

  3. Very COOL!!

I've seen them too, I wondered how easy they'd be to wash w/ ?? You did a great job

The blue, yellow, and purple are all about 4oz. and fit in your hand perfect, the green are 6oz +, a little big - I should cut them down. I never thought of aluminum foil - good idea! I just gave the plastic cup a squeeze every now and then to "kinda" mix the layers.

    Thanks Everyone! :D

  4. Hey all.. I am approaching my 1st craft fair in October and was curious if those out there who make soap sell alot of soap loaves? I was thinking of a few holiday scents in 1 or 2 LB loaves. I want to know if its worth the trouble to make these scents again for this. Thanks, Sandy

  5. The gems are clear M&P little chunks mixed with white pearl mica... I used plastic glasses to pour them into, you cant tell from the pictures but there are at least 10 layers in each "gem" lol, but they are soo fun to make, the more it looks like a screw up as your pouring, the better it turns out. They are all scented L 'Air du Temps type.

  6. Hmm... I melted the beeswax and shea together, then poured that into the sunflower... Do you still have what seems ( to me it did) alot of wax left in your cup after you poured?

Oic what you mean - now I'm not sure if it was beeswax or all the ingredients lol, guess I will try again and see if its as greasy. Thanks. :)

  7. I attempted my first basic recipe today, just equal parts beeswax, shea butter, and sunflower oil. It was way too greasy IMO, but I noticed when I went back to clean up that the measuring cup I had used was coated with wax - I had thought I had it throughly mixed. Is there a trick to incorporating the beeswax better?

    Sandy

  8. I mix my lye/water with the oils when they are both around 110 - 115 and usually do not have a problem with fast trace..unless I've added Shea butter. That seems to make it go quick. And I also use a water discount, but havent noticed if it gels faster ( never thought to look).

  9. I have a drawer I would like to try and use as a slab mold - I'm confused on the height - the measurements are 19.5 W x 12.5 H x 2.5 D, but I would like to have a bar thats only 1" thick. So my question is would I then use the 1" in place of the 2.5 or do I have to use actual dimensions to get how many oils needed. Sorry if confusing - I got myself confused lol.
