  1. I guess I can understand that a business has to raise prices now and then.. that is expected.

I just think nearly 25% as my order shows is a gigantic jump in price.

I know that the shipping "included" was most likely to help ease the pain of price increases.

I dont know about everybody else but I keep detailed records of exactly what I spend on my supplies.. it is the only way to make sure my mark up for wholesale and retail is appropriate.. and since I keep such close eye on my expenses I notice price increases and I do not want to raise my prices 25% to cover this increase.

Dont know where you are located but I use the jelly jars also and I will be getting mine from TN candle. They are still a good price and the shipping was not much.

  2. I was surprised at this as well. I am just getting started again and have to buy everything all over. I put an order in my cart and there is no way I am paying that. I lived farther away before and it was cheaper. I only live 2 hours away from them now but my time and gas is not worth the drive unless I am ordering over $500 of stuff. Not gonna happen right now.

I put the SAME order in TN candles cart with shipping it is $44.28 cheaper with them. For the same stuff. ???? They are much farther away. Even Peaks is cheaper and they are on the other side of the country.

This does not make any sense. I have never had a problem with WSP..love the products but I don't and won't charge my customers more..I will use another supplier first.

Makes me very sad! As a business person I would not want MY customers to go elsewhere.

  3. Hey All!

Been a while.. Is this thing really in Washington, PA ...near Pittsburgh? I just moved back home after a divorce and am only 45 min from there. I would love to attend. Never been to one of these and getting back in the swing of things. Miss making stuff and need to catch up and find a new wax supplier and buy ALL new supplies. Already have old customers wanting to order candles but I need to find a replacement wax for Keystones soy blend and retest...whole other story.

    Anyway...

I should be able to attend since it is so close and I am with a guy who actually lets me live my life. :yay:

What all goes on in there? Other than the singing, drinking and partying ;)

  4. Those do look awsome! Beautiful colors. The coloring the water part would not bother me ...that would be fun ..even the red, but I agree about the 'all natural' part.

I think you do need to watch the 'all natural' part some people take that VERY seriously...and add they dye to the ingredient list.

  5. Votives here as well. I would buy a larger jar but not that size.

Yes you can pour container wax into a votive holder. I used to sell those little straight plain ones. But I don't sell votives to refill them so they did not sell well. Just never really got into making those. Exp since most require a repour....to much time involved for me. LOL

  6. Thanks all!:D

Been working my butt off while I am there stocking. I poured so many scents of candles the other day I left with a headach.

    :tongue2:

Thought I would take a break the next few days and do some bath & body stuff or gift baskets.

I still have a few things to do and so does my landlord. They are still finishing the hall before you come into my shop hall area.

  7. I used them alot for food gift baskets. Gourmet, Pasta and junk food. For bath & body they do not do as well. I used plain white small ones. I think reuseable containers are better for gift baskets. Most people throw away boxes/baskets(don't understand why). If you use a hat box type container with a lid or something they can use later like a shower caddy or even something ceramic they can put stuff in later etc. They tend to go over better.

My coffee mug/chocolate ones went over the best. All the goodies contained in a mug and I used cello and tied them with NICE wired ribbon. No curly stuff or pull bows.

...and I hate shrink wrap!...it looks like a mass produced wallymart gift. I use the roll of cello most of the time. So you can wrap it tighter to hold stuff in without alot of excess bulk that a cello bag would at the bottom.

  8. Yea..we are now open.

    Here are the after pics.

We took the brown door off since the other one has a lock now.

We have just enough space. ...and a little room for gift baskets as I do them.

Still stocking items. I made candles & melts all day today while I was there..all holiday scents. We were open today but there was no traffic..town was empty today because there is a home football game. So my official open date it Tuesday. We are going to do our grand opening the same two days as our towns Victorian Christmas. There will lots of people around where my shop is at that time.

I also have to put lights in the windows and SOMETHING..??? in them to show what we have. They are kind of high up off the road so I have to put stuff very close to the window. Maybe hand a sign of some sort in each one. Dunno yet.

Also I put a display in the buildings from window for fall. One of the other businesses already complimented on it and said it makes you want to come in. So that made me happy. That was the whole point. :)

  9. Does anyone use straight palm wax. I know it make pretty snowflake designs but other than that. I am really looking for a wax that I do not have to blend myself with anything else. I need a container wax and a melt wax. I don't do pillars or votives yet and at this point don't care to. Since I have to re-test every single scent. :angry2:

Just wondering how straight palm does in a container. I have been using zinc wicks. Does anyone have a 'better' recommended wick for palm?

I might as well switch jars while I am at it. :undecided Been wanting to go from plain jelly jars with silver crystal lids (which are also being discontinued) to something more upscale looking. Guess a plain jar would work better if I go with plain palm.

AHHHHHHHHHHHH! This is so frustrating right before the holidays. I hope you all don't have to go through this. Seriously it is not good business to discontinue something right before a busy season and not tell anyone.

  10. I am having the same issue my soy blend is discontinued and I have less than a case of wax left with the holidays arriving and a new store to stock.

Luckily I can sell melts but I have to retest some of my best sellers in a new wax. QUICK.

I was looking at palm wax as well and use to use plain 415 soy. I think I will try to blend the two at 25% palm with 75% soy and see what happens. Guess it is a starting point.

WHY on earth would they discontinue a wax blend like that ...it seemed to be very popular. Was easy to use, easy to pour, no waiting like plain soy. UGH! GRRRR!

    VERY frustrating. :angry2:

  11. I use those walmart plastic boxes they work great. Except I am a neat freak and I printed labels from Avery program to put on the box. :D If I have a bunch of small bags I just keep them in the bag they came in and put them all in one plastic box.

I'm terrible. I just have these big boxes that I write in magic marker on the outside. Just the wick size and if it is one of my regular jars I say that too. I am guessing that those clear shoe box containers from Walmart might work good. You could write on the end the wick size and just stack them up.
  12. Yes it is inside an old victorian building in downtown. There are several other businesses in the building. Two therapists, a computer guy, a window store and mine.. Plus two other spaces that are available but not finished yet.

I can put whatever sign I want right now. But they are working on a big window display they will put with all our businesses on it.

I bought an open/closed sign with the little letters you can change out and I can put stuff in the window out front right now.

I will be able to make stuff in there as well. Since there is a workspace with counters and sink. There is even a small refrigerator under one of the counters. Which is great for me to put the soap in to cool.

  13. We are opening our shop FINALLY. It will be open Nov 1st and here are the before pics.

    http://www.pampermecollections.com/photoalbum.html

We stacked everything up to get ready to paint. We did the first coat today. It is vanilla cream so it is neutral. I wanted pink and black but hubby said that might clash when we get lots of different stuff for the holidays in there. ...and he is right. DARN IT! LOL

There is a sink and cabinets in there ...YEA!!! I am going to make a counter area around it with an entry for me to get in there. Also making storage area in the very back by putting up black bookcases across the back about 1/3 of the way up the store and then a curtain on a tension rod to block the back. I can put all the out of season stuff and shipping boxes etc back there.

The little hallway I have room for a small corner shelf ..you can't see the area in the pic and I can hang floral arranements and pictures we will sell on the walls in the hall.

I am sooo excited. :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: We had our stuff in a booth at an antique mall but I had two items over $10 stolen in the past week. So we talked and as long as I am home for the kids everyday at 2:30. I can have my shop and pull out of the antique mall. I thought that was a fair deal. We are in a little victorian town that is alot of ma and pa stuff so we can get away with being open only 9am or 10am till 2pm each day.

We are going to have my candles and bath stuff as well as gift baskets, home decor and florals and craft that I make. Hopefully I can keep up with all that.

    Thanks for looking!
