  1. I am under charging and as get new customers have wondered-do i charge them a new amount and let old buddies keep old amount--or do I bring newbies in on new rate and warn oldies --hee hee--like that-that as of May 1 or whatever the price is going up

afraid sales will drop since they like the cheap prices!!

  2. What lye calculator are you using?

I've only had two batches (made at the same time) remain sticky and soft. About a month later it dawned on me that I used the lye #'s in Soapmaker instead of Soapcalc. At the time I didn't know there is a -8.3 variation you have to use in Soapmaker.....and thus, not enough lye! I'm still bitter about it. LOL....almost 8 oz of Solas oils down the drain!

I can honestly say that I haven't used my Soapmaker program in months and months....

    Donna

I only use my soap maker numbers and i think my bars are okay!

Am i supposed to use different numbers? Some of my bars are a little softer but i thought was the oils. I am a newbie still!! I use them and have sold them and have put them in swaps!!

    uh oh!!!

  3. Is it as simple as adding F.O. and bottling or is there more to it?

    Thanks

Funny-was following the thread through to ask the same question!

I spend a lot of money on BBW lotions and bath washes. Have tried lotions from store but find not as good feeling to me. I would like to toy with making some of my own.

If I tried these lotion or cream or bath gel bases-would I just add body safe FO?? or would I need to get some other products to add??

    TIA

  4. I bought a bunch of the expensive dollar store bags of leaf petals and then had to buy more at joanns when could not find at dollar store before christmas. Fall foliage.

I dipped in MP and used holiday sents-i sold cheap-but they went like hot cakes!! Use the petals to wash your hands and then discard!

    Fun.

  5. Dragon's Blood! I'm over the moon with this scent. But I'm running out of curing space... LOL

got lots of room over here for curing anything you want-and got the good temps and such to--being in Tucson

Then gonna start stalking all the other people who responded to this and have good stuff going and gonna sneak a bar or two of each when they are not looking!!!

I just made blueberry pie soap using a hemp oil m&p for a friend and my house smells YUMMY!

  6. Don't worry about your bowls and utensils after making soap, clean them up the next day, it's much easier.

    .

You know i keep seeing this and I always mean to just let them sit there and clean the next day but it DRIVES me crazy knowing they are there!

Think making soap tomorrow-WILL let them just sit there!

    if it kills me

    :)

  7. I have also been looking for something like this.

Checked out website and it does not have any type of price break!! Just the flat 100 for 4.00?

I could probably run a co-op--have purchased from mms before and they have great service. This is something that would fit in a flat rate envelope or box--right? If someone orders 100-does it come in packaging that would fit in a flat rate envelope? and they are 4.95? Right?

  8. Thanks for all the replies. Should have been more specific-was referring to how long would last on shelf. she is one of those people who plans WAY ahead and so wanted to know if could get now or how long should wait until she gets them!!

Maybe will suggest she can make her list and think about it and that maybe I would start making in Oct or Nov and give to her beginning Dec! Unless she needs any sooner!

I give her some of most of my batches cause she is a sweet pea!!

Nice to see getting some business back!

  9. So had a friend approach me and tell me she is thinking about trying out about 20 different fragrances for soap. Wants for christmas. Wanted to know how long they last and when should order if wants for christmas.

I would think would last indefinitely if soap?????????????/

but thought i would ask all of you smarties!!

How long would a bar of CP last?

How about a bar of MP??

    :)

    TIA

  10. Can also find something like this at Trader Jo's

    mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Heh, I never cared for it much either. Then I was introduced to Greek yogurt with honey. Mmmm, I love that. Don't know if this is true everywhere, but in NYC you can find Greek yogurt in any supermarket. Usually a brand called Fage (pronounced FAH-yeh]. There's something about the texture and aroma of honey that's "too much" for me, but the flavor and mouthfeel of Greek yogurt balances it out perfectly.
  11. i have an ikea nearby--what is it that i would buy there that would be mold-ish??

    something exciting?

I actually live with a guy who makes amazing wood furniture and such and has said a bunch of times he was going to make me a mold. but....................................

not sure why it has not happened!

Have mentioned one for christmas would be nice, v-day, my birthday

even have sent him sites of others who make own and such!!

i think i need to beat him!!

    hee hee

  12. So poor me-i still do not have a REAL mold......

i was nosily perusing other people's threads-anything to avoid studying.......

and saw mention of someone taking a class and they used a sheet of styrofoam and cut out the piece and used duct tape and made a mold and it easily released the soap!

    Wow!!!

    anyone else do this?

And where do I buy styrofoam sheets?

    Home Depot? Lowes?

    somewhere better?

And any helpful hints if anyone does do this??

I have been using pans and boxes and such! makes for an interesting block of soap!!

    :)

    TIA
