It's good to be back at CT and making a few candles. Pretty good therapy for the spirit, also. Thanks to all of you for the nice comments. Also for the education that you continue to give me and for the inspiration and support..:wave:

These are actually scented with mistletoe but I renamed it Forest Walk. Due to health reasons, I didn't get to pour some of my winter scents during the winter, so I tried to be creative and make this one go more year around.

Never know though, they might at least have some items that ya'll can use and may be close enough to drive to for some of ya...:smiley2:

4630 tended to smoke like crazy when I tried a slab of it. It's been awhile so I couldn't remember what I was using for jars or wicks. I'm sure I have notes on it somewhere. I used about 3 lbs and traded away the other 7...

Maybe a CD 6 or blend some soy wax into to cut down on the soot.

It really depends on where you live. I second that Peaks has great service.

If you live closer to N.C., Candle Science has some sample packs and great service as well. As far as I can remember CS does not carry CD wicks or cotton wicks. So it can also depend on the series that you want as to where you might want to shop.

I think that Peaks has a larger selection.

Well it all depends on the shape of the jar and the FO, but a CD 8 may be a decent starting point.

Just like you, 2 cd's has been my best answer to the same problem. I too, have a little bit of black in my wax after about half way down.

Might have been cool to have a room full of them back in the late 60's to mid 70's...these and a bar of Grumpy's Acid Trip soap... especially if the dye was flourescent. (Black Light)

About the only thing that they say is, "Keeping flame straight will promote symetrical blossom shape."

I know this place isn't in the U.K. but maybe shipping wouldn't be as bad on them since they don't weigh a lot or maybe someone in the U.K. carries them.

I have 2 of these that aren't digital but they are accurate. They clip on the inside side of my presto pots which are about 6 inches deep, and reach to the bottom. They are all metal except for the face and the glass face cover.

I also support what candleman said about the paper being able to move a bit inside the glass ones. I have one of those also (my first one) that I still use, but it's 10 degrees off from my metal ones, so I have to take that into account and adjust accordingly.

CandleScience offers an 8 in. digital, but I'm not sure exactly how long the metal stem is. I assume that when they say 8 inch that they are talking about the stem and the body of it.

Now on 6-17-07 you want to know what price to put on your candles. Are you thinking that you are ready to start selling or are you just wondering about the profit potential? Hopefully it's the latter.

If you have a good product, promoting isn't so difficult. You can always make small samples. Next time you get your hair done, tell your hairdresser that you appreciate the work that they have done and just to show your appreciation you would like to present them with a small gift. (along with a business card)..:smiley2:

Do that with your doctor, dentist, co-worker, the checkout person at the stores where you frequently shop..etc...etc.

Word of mouth can be a really good thing...
