They usually only have those sample sales twice a year.
The last one was in August or Septmeber...I think???? If I had to guess I would say the next one will not be until spring...6 months would be around April.
But who knows:confused:

I tested several of these before the holidays and chose Flickers. Smelled authentic and threw great!
For some reason some Oatmeal Cookie scents smell like stinky feet to me!
Bluegrass is never in stock..they were on my list to try.
KY~OK, but kinda stinky
NG~smelled nothing like Oatmeal cookies more like sugar cookie
MC~OK, but not the one for me
Wax~CB135

Having used many types of palm wax, I have observed that it has repeating crystal patterns. I am suspecting that the top "line" on Glass Glow candles may not have as much to do with cooling as it does with the pattern beginning to repeat at that point. I plan to test this in the near future by pouring into containers of differing heights and measuring the width of the pattern to see where it begins to repeat.
I have not actually tested in tall containers to prove the repeat pattern theory but have concluded from my testing that cooling slowly top to bottom prevents the pattern from stopping.
Example:
Here the pattern begins to
smooth out near the top.

Here the pattern continues
throughout the candle.

From what I understand, the cooling rack prevents the bottom from cooling to quickly and covering the candle with a box, etc slows down the total cooling process.
I have never had to cover mine completely while cooling. The cooling rack and cloth on top does the trick for me.
Others who have posted have to cover with box, etc to slow down the cooling process.

Are you suppose to cool palm slow or fast? What would be the advantage of the trays?
Palm, especially the GGlow should be cooled slowly for the crystallized pattern to continue throughout the candle.
As you can see, the pink candle cooled too quickly because the pattern stopped about an inch from the top.
I cooled both on a cooling rack, but covered the green candle with a cloth.

Update:
I contacted Fil-tec & Early American and they were both so helpful. I am getting a sample pack of the fil-tec wicks. The box includes samples of their most popular wicks & sizes.
I am also revisiting the Atkins & Pearce Cotton Core wicks. Early American has a wide variety of sizes. I tried these over a year ago but was limited on what sizes I could get.

I can not find much info on these here. I use CB135 and am going to test some different wicks this year. Any input would be appreciated.
TIA

More info on the candle I am burning:
I have a bad habit of just breaking the wicks to trim and these break at the perfect length! They do not shift during the burn either and the melt pool was about 1 inch deep after an hour or so.
After researching tonight I am leaning toward the Fil-tec ultra core wicks. Not much info on them here that I can find. But the info I have found says they are a very rigid cored wick that does not shift.

Thanks Top. Sent ya a PM!
In most of my applications the RRD really does not curl. Once in a while they do....

I am looking to test new wicks this year. I am currently burning a candle I purchased over a year ago..it is waay over wicked but I like the way the wicks burn. They do not curl and mushroom only slightly. These are big fat wicks! LOL!
So I guess my question is....What wicks out there do not curl?
Here are the ones I know if:
RRD
Cotton C's
Hemp

I played around with these before the holidays for my MIL with the ecosoya pb/blend and the same thing happened to me. I will try adding container wax the next time and see if that helps. Good advice! Thanks!:smiley2:

Another thought....are you adding any soy wax?
-
I have never seen this when burning my GlassGlow. I order mine from Candlescience. Sorry I am not much help either.

I do remember having a problem a while back where I was copying and pasting the free sample scent I wanted into the comments section.
Apparently it did not show up on their end...something about the HTML codes. Once I started typing it in and not being lazy there were no problems.

Sounds to me like Jakalex is agreeing with you, and I agree with you too ... "overlooking a sample is small compared to alot of things." Sorry about your brother, I can't even imagine what you must be going through.
It's good you contacted them. From my experience, CS always tries to make their customers happy.
Thank you Candlebuddy. I was agreeing. I guess I should have made myself more clear...other things meaning forgetting your wax, containers, etc.
If you do not put free sample in the comments section they do not automatically give you one.

Daystar's Cake Batter is the best I have found in CB135. No almond notes, just sweet cake dripping from the beaters! FYI There is a sale going on!santa wink
-
I always get my free samples also. I think it was over looked one time, out of hundreds of orders!
This is the busy season so overlooking a free sample is small compared to alot of things. Just contact them and I am sure they will make it right.

Thanks, I will check it out.
Yea after I posted I noticed that I put molds in the title but once I hit submit there is no going back on the title! OOOPS!

Found what I needed.

CSN Wicks
in Vegetable Wax & Beeswax Candle Making
Posted
I have noticed this about the search feature also. When you try one word you get nothing??????
Anywho, I prefer the CSN wicks for several reasons.
1. They were designed to burn in the palm wax.
2. The flame does not get as high as other wicks I have tested.... I have tested the RRD's.
Note: If you notice with the palm, the wicks do not get clogged like with soy. This could have something to do with the higher flames if not wicked properly. JMO
I do not have problem with my flame height.... I have just seen others posting about being concerned with their testing.
3. Once I find the correct wick for my container, pillar, etc. I get a wonderful burn and scent throw.
