I kind of want to get back into it for my family and friends (and myself!) to enjoy.
When I left candle making behind. I was using 4794 for tarts & votives. I see it is still sold. But...is there anything else out there that is better than I should try?

My other passion is nail polish, so I make that as well.
And messes as well LOL

Anyone know where to get a dupe of this? Had a request, and I have no clue where to find it.
TIA!

I am just getting back to candles and melts, and used to use them for my wax. They have since discontinued it. Glad they did because I would not be buying anything else from them again. Very bad business practices!
-
I was going to try their oils and the only time I have ever spent that much was on wax. I never order that much in oils at one time, especially untested ones, Too bad, looks like they will lose a lot of business.

I use scalloped molds, clamshells and mini muffin trays. Mini muffin size (without papers) sell like crazy.

This tag is the best out of all of them. Sometimes, less is more. And, I agree to make the Burn Safely smaller.

I have a similar model to that one I bought a few years ago. I think it is a 5600 series. The only thing I did not like on it was the scan function. You could not just push the button on the machine to scan, you have to pull up the scanner program and use the button on the scanner to program itself. A little frustrating, but I don't scan all that much. Other than that, it prints great, and is not an ink hog.

I package my single melts in the 3x3 polypro bags. I use 2x2 labels, and just am not happy with the labels overall. I don't really care for the size, and just don't like them. To those of you who package in a similar way, what size label do you use. And, if you can include a link to the label in your post, that would be great too.
Thanks!

Stella,
What type of scale do you have sounds like a good one that you are able to put your hot wax on? The ones I have seen and have are plastic and I would be afraid to do that. I am going to start using glove all of the time also since I broke out in hives 2 weeks ago. I always seem to get the fo all over my hands. Today is the first day I have not had a break out.
I have some old potholders I use. I put that on, then the pot, and then I tare it to add FO.
-
I use flip-top squirt lids on my FO botles. I don't use a measuring glass (because FO should be weighed, not measured). I place the pour pot with hot wax on my scale and tare. Then I squirt the FO into it until it weighs the correct amount. Easy-peasy and no glass to clean out.
HTH:)
I do the same thing. They are reusable too, so I just use the cap on the next bottle of the same scent.

Cool. I hope it works out for me too

Has anyone done this yet?

I'm trying it for the month of April, and just want to see if anyone here has tried it and if it was successful or if you saw some sales from it.
TIA

Hi everyone,
I bought the poufs from Candles and Supplies, and they are a bit too big to make the soaps with the muffin tins. Can someone tell me where to get the smaller poufs? I've looked at a few places, but can't tell if they are smaller or not.
Thanks!

Well, that does make more sense, I guess. I've just been pouring from a pyrex meas. cup, but I probably should get a couple of pour pots instead. I don't use any dye in my candles, so maybe it wouldn't be a big deal to get the fragrance in there quickly--is it pretty easy to stir in the pour pot? I usually stir for a good 2 minutes after adding. At least I won't be wearing out the bottom of the presto pot with all the stirring if I do it your way!
When I first started I did not have a presto, so I did everything in my pour pots. The presto made the melting part so much easier!
If you have a Michael's craft store in your area, I usually get the pour pots with their 40% off coupon. It's a good savings, and no shipping.
-
I only use my presto for wax, no scent or color. I usually pour my wax in a pot, and put it in a double boiler on the stove to keep the temp up. Then, I only need to clean pour pots, and not a presto pot. And, I can pour more scents that way.
-
I am going to be playing with melt and pour and lip balms soon. Not selling them, but hope to in the future. And, for my shows I am bringing a small amount of scents from now on. Less to carry, and I can focus on making more products with those chosen scents.

I like Grandma's Kitchen. I would not say it is spicy. There is more of a cinnamon smell to it than anything. It is a good seller for me.

A question from a complete newbie interested in soapmaking :
Ok, I'm a newborn babe in the soap making category. I haven't even googled it that much yet! (LOL) Someone said that you HAD to add lye when making soap. So, my question is, do you have to add lye to M&P or is it already added to the base? I'm assuming that it's already added in if needed. Don't laugh! I TOLD you I was a newborn...or perhaps a NOT-yet-born! ?
Melt and pour is already soap, so no lye needs to be added. The other soaps that other make do need lye. I'm not quite ready for that part just yet
Ok, off to go and laugh at you now......kidding!!
-
I love their M&P bases the best. However, I try to buy them in person to bypass their dreadful online store. By that I mean they don't give you the shipping info until after your online purchase is complete. Sucks but I put up with it for their great bases.
I noticed the shipping thing on their site when I went there. Kind of a pain. Is their shipping pretty reasonable?
-
I think I am going to try C&S. I have used them a few years ago for candle supplies, and completely forgot about them. Thanks!!
-
I am having a problem finding someone close to me so I don't get killed on shipping. I have a soap supply company in my state, but their prices are so high, that even with shipping WSP was cheaper. Anyone have any recommendations on somewhere I can check out?
-
I am trying so hard to find a place more local to me where I can order m&p base. How is the WSP base?
I have been out of candle making for a long time.....

I still have a case of 4794 that is about 6 years old or so...it should still be OK, right?
And, yes, I know better is a broad term...I was just wondering if there was something else that has come out in my absence that I absolutely had to check out that would rock my world
