  1. i've been trying rustic pillars and after the 5th attempt i am getting frustrated. little to no frost. i did a search on here and read that 4625 isn't a good wax for rustics. is this true?

i followed everyone's instructions perfectly ( i think!! ) and although am happy with the pillar construction, i just see no "rustic"

  2. ok...i've read and researched and followed all ya'lls advice and finally attempted to make rustics. they came out OK..nothin i'd want to post in the gallery! but...i have 2 questions..

    1. do you allow your rustics to cool on their own or do you speed up the cooling process in some water bath or fridge?

    2. when i went to melt down 1 that i didn't like at all (i didn't use wick pins..had the wicks in them before) i assumed that i'd fish the wick out once the wax was melted. and the wick disappeared! melted down i guess. is this normal? should i have somehow gotten the wick out before melting it down?

this is so frustrating but so much fun!!

  3. they have some mini cookie cutters at hobby lobby, but i found mine at pinocchio productions online...they have every cookie cutter in minis and they're real cheap. i think i paid more for shipping than i did on 5 mini cookie cutters!!

  4. i've been making container candles for almost a year and i want to start doing pillars. i've done all the searches and studied everything online but am alittle confused about the difference in mottled and rustic. is rustic just colder pouring any pillar wax whereas mottled is using specific pillar wax? i've seen all the pictures in the gallery and am amazed and shocked at how great they are but am still alittle confused about it all. all the instructions i've read show how to make pillar candles but i've yet to see how to finish them...do you use a wick tab..i've seen some pillars with and some without....i'm so confused! but excited to get started.
