i wonder if it's a regional thing. i have never understood the point of "lotion" bars. they aren't lotion at all. to me it's like lip balm for your body and that just doesn't sound appealing to me. lol!

i have made tons of wipes for my kids over the years. it's really not that hard so not sure i see the point of selling something like that as it is really something anyone can make.

same as sjconner. a little soap, about a tablespoon, some olive oil, about a tablespoon, a little lavender, 1/2 - 1 tsp, 1 1/2 - 2 cups water.

thanks, stella. my wicks are firmly tacked down at the bottom. i can hardly get them off when i want to refill a jar for myself. when i do 100% soy, i don't have this problem. only with the soy/para blend. i ordered some of the white wick holders with the notch to hook the wick in from peak.

oh, i don't trim them till they are >24hrs old. not sure where she got that, but yeah...no trimming till totally set.

ETA: OHHH! i love those white ones with the little hooks on them to hook the wick into. didn't even know those were an option. THANK YOU for letting me know about them. ordering some now!

they are firmly stuck to the bottom of the jar, that is not the issue. i use those white centering tools. how do you secure them down tight with those things? what do you mean by not trimming them until i am done? done with what?

these are the only ones i had right now. it's not as dramatic as sometimes. but these were set with a wick centering tool and you can see they are not in the center. and as they burn the off center is even more apparent. the middle of them is where it is the worst. any ideas?

yep...i use stick-ums. it's quite frustrating. i do mine own blend of soy with candle source wax. i'll see if i have one i can show a picture of.

There are wick centering tools you can use to keep the wick in place. Most candle suppliers carry them and they are cheap.

Until you get some you can use the poor mans wick centering tool-- chopsticks, pencils, popsicle sticks, etc. Wrap the wick around the stick to tighten and hold the wick in place.

i haven't read all the replies, but even with the centering tools, my wicks shift as the candle hardens. why is that?

there's no moisture in oils and butters only...moisture comes from water. that's why they do nothing for me. i can only use water based products. the moisture comes from the water, the oils/butters seal in that moisture.

i would like to know what sort of magic debbie is using to convince herself that my one item i buy there that used to be $80 and is now $93.50 is somehow saving ME money??

i have made these in the past. mine lasted no where near a year. and i made them according to the 1oz per, 2 cups. do yo think it's b/c different fo's from different suppliers have different life spans?

if it were me making this, i would do the soap HP and add the aloe after the cook so that the aloe is not subjected to saponification.

you could try blenderizing the whole leaf with some oil and add the puree after cooking. you may want to decrease your SF some to account for the oil in the aloe puree.

i have never had a FO burn completely off either, after years of exclusive crock pot soaping.

when are you adding your FO?

i guess i thought that was a pretty good price and was just getting ready to suggest LC.

i started with CP. did that for awhile...then kept reading about HP. gave it a try in my crock pot. NEVER did another batch of CP again. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE HP! virtually impossible to mess it up. and you can use any FO without worry.

once you get the hang of HP, you don't have to zap test it....you'll just know when it's done. and zap testing isn't that horrible, it zings a little, but you don't have to touch it to your tongue for very long to know. barely a touch and you'll know.

liquid germall plus is not for anhydrous formulations. i use optiphen in my anhydrous stuff, mainly scrub...i don't put preservatives in my butters.

i'm just starting with these. the ones i have sold i priced at 3.50. but waffling between 4.00 or 3.50 w/ purchase of warmer.

well, shoot, then i bought the wrong one....in the first or second post it said container/votive blend...since they don't have a "container/votive blend" i went with the "pillar/votive blend". hope it still works for tarts.

edited to add: on their wax page where you buy the wax, it just says container blend...so i didn't know that was the one for tarts and went with the one that said votive.

Containers, tarts, and votives: that's what you can use The Candle Source wax for. It has a max FO load of 8.5%. HTH

did you mean the pillar/votive wax from the candle source? there is no container/votive.

also, what is the recommended fragrance load for this wax?
