Hello :) I am wondering if any of you have a recommendation on where to buy GB444 wax somewhat locally to save on shipping (Im in Madison, WI). Willing to drive up to 3 hours! Thank you for any advice!

Try Gateway Foods, they are near St. Louis. Not sure about shipping prices as I order by the pallet. It was pretty reasonable for that.

  2. When they stopped making my old wax, I tested both. They are very similar in wicking and pour temps. I made the same scent in each wax, put them on opposite ends of the house and shut the doors. After about thirty minutes I checked each room. I knew which one I thought smelled stronger, then I had my husband to check. Did that a couple times with different scents, each time the C3 was the stronger.

Finally got around to making some clam shell melts with EcoSoya PB Pillar Blend Soy Wax and I'm liking it so far. I'm now waiting for them to cure several days before testing them in the warmers.

    - I did one with only FO and poured at 150. The wax is ivory so I can't see any frosting if it's there and it only had a very slight sinkhole in the middle of the mold, not enough to do a 2nd pour.

    - The other one had FO and dye block and poured at 140 which was too cool for me because the wax in the corners of the mold are a little puffy and rounded. It had just a few small spots with some faint frosting and also had the slight sinkhole in the center. Regardless, it looks fine to me.

    - The cold throw is really good so far with both of them and they both have 8% FO using My Dear Watson from The Candle Makers Store.

    - Both were heated to around 200 and FO added at 190.

I've noticed they feel gritty when I lightly run my hand across them. It can't be the dye block since the one w/o dye feels the same way. I don't think they cooled too slow because I had the A/C blowing in the kitchen and I could feel the draft over the clam shells. I was afraid they were going to cool too fast and crack or something. So I'm wondering if it is the FO, the FO % or just a trait of the EcoSoya PB wax?

Has anybody else experienced gritty melts with this wax?

I haven't noticed any type of gritty either. I also use liquid dyes, mostly from BC and Candle Science. I might pour a little hotter than you though.

I'm thinking about ordering a 5lb bag of the Ecosoya PB to satisfy my curiosity. The more recent reviews on Aztec are really good and LanaH seems to like it. Plus it looks like it's flakes and a single pour wax, I certainly like that. @LanaH and @Sebleo, is this in flake form and is it a single pour? I'd like to avoid rock hard slabs of wax, sink holes and a 2nd pour.

It's in pellets and yes it is a single pour. Very easy to work with.

I love the idea of this wax but disappointed that my test candles frosted on top and this only took a month. After burn not as smooth as I would like - I want smooth! Easy to use though.

I had the same problem. Was so hoping it wouldn't frost as bad as the C3, but it's just as bad, if not worse.

I wish I'd seen this before I placed my order on December 22nd. Paypal took my money but I never got an email from Backwoods and now I can't access the website. I misplaced the list of what I ordered, and now I'm wondering if I'll even get my order. They had a lot of fragrances I wanted to try.

I'm sure you will hear from her. I ordered a couple of months ago, after the announcement and all went well. She even reordered the honey gingerbread as I needed several pounds.

How is the melt pool depth with those, @LanaH?  I've got plenty of wicks I'm trying, but no RRDs.  In my first pan burn test almost all were a little too deep for my liking.  I was trying to wick down also, and the smaller ones were still deep, while being too narrow.  I'll post those when I'm done with the second burn this evening.

They were a good 1/4 inch with a full melt pool. The 37 has some hang up but may catch up, we'll see.

  8. I have 3 cases opened now, hoping that will help. They definitely  don't feel crunchy, more soft and pliable.

It has gotten better as long as I leave the lid off. It seems like I have more problems when I get to the bottom of the case.

I can't seem to stop the sink holes either. I've tried pouring at every temperature from 170 to 110, in 5 degree increments.

Do you think the moisture is causing this?
