Oh trust me im definatly keeping an eye one them. But im going to post some pics today in the candle gallery of the two I did yesterday and the ones I did on tuesday. Ive had them in every room of the house so far because I cant stop looking at them, and so far no spots. the ones that I did yesterday have one spot because I poured at 165 instead of 175 so thats to be expected.

i used baked Apple Pie but it smelled too chemically. It didnt smell like grandmas pie thats for sure!

YEAH Im so excited. I made two candles yesterday and I came home today and they have ZERO WET SPOTS!!! I heated my jars and put the candles in a styrafoam cooler just like you all suggested and it worked.
I made two more candles tonite to see how they turn out. Usually after 24 hours my candles have wet spots, heck, even after a few hours they develope wet spots. But not this time. I think I can see the lite at the end of the tunnel.
I test burned one today and it smelled the whole downstairs, even though I didnt care for the scent.
Just had to share that with ya'll!

I personally am not attracted to ebay stores. they just dont give you enough options as far as personalizing it. if you get on ebay and look up candles you will find hundreds and hundreds of candle makers. that makes it hard to stand out from the rest. Also an ebay store is like 20.00 a month or somewhere around there. Thats more than some sites charge to host your site.

thanks guys for your opinions. Now i have to change my domain name. wonder how difficult that is?? Ill probally wind up canceling the one i have now and registering a new one. After all its only 2.99 at yahoo.

very good advice. Ill try that tomorrow when im pouring. I was so excited to use me new ez wick setter too, oh well. lol..

I got a sample Fo from GL yesterday and the Flash point was 141 F. Now I did some searches on the site to try to find out exactly what this means for us chandlers...I found out that this means if the FO by itself comes in contact with a flame or spark that it will ignite. My question is...does this mean that if the wick get hotter than 141 F ( and im not sure if thats possible or not) that the candle could combust??? I was very very scared last nite when i poured this Fo because I was adding it to wax that was 195F. And was scared I was going to start a fire.

Just a random question...I love that glass container its in....wonder where you can get those???

I knew what my business name was going to be as soon as I thought of it...."Bella Beans Candle Company" i love it. Its whimsy and classic at the same time. however I decided that in the future I want to carry bath and body as well (when I get the candle thing down). I am rethinking the "candle Company" part of my name. I have been concidering just making it "Bella Beans" thats it thats all.. ...what do you all think? I think this generalizes the bussiness more and gives me room to expand as far as selling other products in the future. Since when I do start making B&B I want to incorperate Soy into those products as well. So "Beans" is perfect for both candles and B&B.
Because after all soy is a bean
Just a thought to consider, I wanted to get you all opinions as well.

I was thinking of trying this method as well. But wasnt sure If I was going to get an accurate test considering the candle was already burned before, like im not giving the new wick a fair chance. But I see what your saying by reheating the tops to be smooth and even again before I insert another wick. Guess i gotta get a wick pin, or will a bambo scewer work??? I dont have a heat gun yet just a blow dryer lol...
yesterday i poured a candle and I tried to pull the wick taut around the scewer and the whole wick pulled out! but i kept it in there anyways cause I still want to test that wick.
Do i let the melt pool dry completly before inserting anp ther wick to test???
Ill have to do a search on this topic to see what all ideas and tips i can get.
I certainly dont want to keep making a candle, burning it for 4 hours and then realizing that its not working, then dumping the whole thing out. Just seems so wasteful to me...lol
thanks for the advice.

yeah im on the path of wasting about 50 lbs. myself..lol...so your saying that I can just keep reusing the same wax and testing different wicks? doesnt the composition of the wax, dye, fo combo change after reheated so many times??? thats what im afraid of.

Meredith,
I see what you are saying. I think that sometimes i take things way too personal. I realized that I am a very unsure person. I always second guess myself. I guess thats why i ask so many questions..lol.

hey roxi, I havent burned any testers yet. Im going to do one tonight when i get home. Ill pm ya when im done my four hour journey..lol...hope it works out well.

Thanks latch, I am using the 70/30 blend from GL. Im not looking for an easy way out. Im not looking to save money persay, I just wanted to get everyones opinions before i started testing. If you look at some of my other threads that I have started, i get the feeling that some people just dont want to help. Maybe i should watch what i type too..lol...
I have only used the ECo 8 and just wanted a general "starting" point.

I dont think that its wise to just start testing random wicks with out being educated first. Thats why i posted this question to get an educated answer as to where to start. I dont want to waste wax on wicks that people have already tried and failed at.

I got my sample wick packs in yesterday.
Tonight I will be making some candles to start testing. I will be using 70/30 blend and 8 oz square mason jars. I have only ever used the ECO 8 wicks so far. they seem to be ok but I want to compare them with others to see if i get a better hot throw. My melt pool using the eco 8 seems to be a bit big. meaning the whole candle glows like the melt pool is too deep. So im going to try the ECO 6 in the same jar and see what that does. I also want to test the hemp and htp's. Anyone have a suggestion as to what size HTP and HEMP wick to start out with in this jar. I have so many sizes I dont want to just guess and waste my wax.
also, those of you that use all these wicks, can you tell a diffrence in hot throw with them?? just wondering if the wick has anything to do with it. And which of the three wicks should I expect an awesome hot throw from?
p.s. green leaf sent me a sample Fo with my order called baked apple pie. Anyone use this before in soy. ???

WOW i really like the look of that. dang I never get good deals like that when I go to sales :rolleyes2

I just did some candles today using EZ Soy, a very wonderful lady one here gave me some tips on how to make them since soy is difficult to deal with
I heated wax to 195 F
Added Dye right away
Added Fo at 175 F
Poured at 104 F
Mine are still curing so far so good though.
I will test burn one in 48 hours if I have no hot throw then ill wait for 5 days and test burn again. you never know how long a candle needs to cure till you test it. I always put my candles in a pantry so they are out of my site it helps with the temptation of wanting to burn them

i have been trying forever to get someone to email me back about designing a logo for me . I did a search on here to try to find somene that designs them. I foud teo people, neither on of them emailed me back. The one person was charging $50.00 for people on this site . I forget her name.
im going to ask on more time and hopefully I can get someone to email me or return my emails and get this bal rolling!
ANYONE OUT THERE WANNA DESIGN MY LOGO PLEASE ????
Also I have another question. I do not have a really good printer at all. So I was going to get my labels printed and sent to me. I know this may not be the cheapest route but ink is expensive and dont even get me started on trying line something up on this computer and print it. Anyways does anyone know of a company that will print your logo on labels for you ???
HOw many of you do this method and how many of you print your own??

I checked out that site and it seems like it would be a great thing to go to. I am only 1 hour away from Anapolis MD. Its just trying to remember when the time comes to get tickets and go! I wrote it on my calender for November to remind myself to check out the site more when they have more information
