  1. I wonder how much you can make as a hobby to keep it legal. Of course if you are not using a number, who would know? They cheat us, maybe we can get them back. Ha! We don't do shows anymore. No money. Most of ours are going out selling and fundraisers. I may think about it. I would love to quit the paperwork too. But there are some site that you can't use without a tax ID. If you have a tax ID, you have paperwork. Isn't this right?

    What???

  2. I did not renew my license and I am disolving my LLC. I have a lot of supplies that I'm going to sell off. I have kept enough oils for my personal use and some tart wax, but the days of wicks/jars are gone. Too many inconsistencies with my wax and all the retesting was proving to be a headache. Never got into the bath & body aspect. Right now I'm concentrating on getting a job. I was laid off from my full time job in February and it's been a difficult process. This chapter (candle business) of my life is about to close unfortunately. :sad2:

  3. What size bottle do you plan on using? We use a 6 oz small bottle and use 2 oz. We opted for the smaller bottle in the event that it tipped over the oil wouldn't spill out.

  4. I like this label over the other. Given the jars you have displayed in the gallery, I think it's a good idea to keep the country/prim look. Are you hung up on having the name "Sparky's Candles? " Why not just "Sparky's?" I believe you had mentioned wanting to branch out into bath & body and if you keep the name short to "Sparky's", you have more marketing options. JMO.

  5. One of the things you need to consider in deciding on hang tags or labels is how you plan on displaying your merchandise. For example, if you plan on doing craft shows, etc., hang tags could be a major inconvenience for packaging. IMO, given the style of jar you have used (as seen in the gallery) you need to have something catchy on your candles. They are very plain and common (I don't mean to insult you). Are you interested in a prim/country look, or something more contemporary? My suggestion would be to decide what "look" you want to achieve in your overall business persona.

  6. You may also try adding your FO at a higher temperature to make sure it binds. As for making your tarts softer, I don't know if that is something you would want to do, given the fact that removal of the wax from the tart burner/warmer will be more difficult if it is soft. Not impossible, but a firmer wax will "pop" out of the warming bowl.

I use a 50/50 pillar/votive blend for my tarts and have no complaints whatsoever, and I use 6% FO. I don't use BC oils though.
