  2. I'm guessing the frustration here is simply the overload of unnecessary explanations. If you just want to test your wick with plain wax, go ahead. But then you will have to test with dye and then again with FO and then again with UV inhibitor, why not streamline the process? I know there are people whose nature it is to simply over process EVERYTHING they do, and for them, I am jealous they have an infinite amount of time and money to spend doing all of these additional steps, but acknowledge that is simply the way they do everything in their life. I am not saying to skip steps, I'm just advising you to make better use of your time. And, as mentioned, most suppliers have a wick guide. When I first started I used the wick suggestions on Candles & Supplies and went from there. Their suggestions were based on unscented, plain wax.

So, during this debate, how did your candle burn?

  3. You can decide if you are happy with the HT of your candles. It's your product. You know what you like. You know what your product should be like. There are some candle makers who want a super strong scent, where others want a lighter scent. I personally prefer to have a HT where it lingers into other areas of the house, but then again, placement of a candle is everything in this house.

  4. Chiptooth,

I think you would personally do better financially by offering your services for the bubble party. Parents are always looking for new ideas for birthday parties, and young girls having their friends over, etc. I would explore that idea. I did a soap demo on glycerin for my niece's class and I had 9 mothers call me to see if I could do at home parties.

  5. I'm in Delaware too. (Wilmington). My first kit came from AC Moore, but when I started to understand what I was doing I went to Candles & Supplies. While they are closer, they are a bit higher in price and their fragrance oils are "hit or miss" but a good place to start. If your wife finds she likes candle making, she'll try different companies to find the fragrance oils she likes best. Feel free to PM me with other area suggestions.

  6. I think your site is visually pleasing, but your facts are wrong. I find some grammatical errors that should be fixed. If you are going to have a business, be prepared for people to sing your praises AND to not think your product is as good as you do. It's business, not personal.

I also think your votives need to have a repour, as well as your tarts to provide a flat surface, and would help qualify your pricing. Those little extra steps will keep your product as appealing (visually) as your website.

    Good luck with your endeavor.
