  1. Just got God's Love and Heaven in the classies. Anyone try these? The descriptions on the website sound amazing...

God's Love Fragrance Oil (ZS,ZB) An NG Original Fragrance! The ozony aroma of soft baby powder with just the right amount of ripened sweet mulberries.

Heaven Fragrance Oil (ZS,ZB) An NG Original Fragrance! An ozony aroma combining the softness of baby powder with base notes of sweet pears and peaches.

Can you tell I like baby powder...lol.

  2. Well, I tested my mango papaya to the point where I was comfortable about it's quality and safety. Gave one to a friend, along with two melts I made from some leftover wax (vanilla walnut and pearberry). Next day she called me and said she wanted to buy a bunch, along with a friend of hers who thinks they're better than anything she's ever bought. I am very flattered and had never had any plans to sell but I have to say, it's got me thinking. I am in no way ready to sell candles yet and I told her that but I think I may just have to whip up a few melts, make some money to buy more fragrance oils I don't really need...lol. Anyway, just wanted to share, I'm very proud that my candle was so well received...

  3. I've gotten oils in flat rate envelopes from the US. The smaller bottles made it just fine, the large bottle (16oz) destroyed the envelope and it was repackaged by the po. I usually ask sellers to ship them airmail letter post in a small box, it's pretty cheap and takes about a week. If the flashpoints are too low, they can be shipped economy surface which is even cheaper but takes a lot longer.

A little tip for your customer, don't declare the value of the package too high (under $20 if you can) we pay taxes once it crosses the border. You'll need to declare the contents and the value and you may need the recipient's phone number for the customs slip.

It's not much extra trouble to ship us, I wish more sellers would. I've missed out on some good stuff!!

  4. 1. Something peach

    2. Strawberry Kiwi

    3. Pearberry

    4. Anything coconut

    5. Vanilla Mint

And about 200 others... lol. I think I'd let Bernard (dh) go before I'd narrow down the fragrance oils... lol.

  5. Hi there and welcome.

I've never used your particular wax and I'm pretty new to this myself, so my advice would have to be do a search for temperatures (personally I heat to 170 and add oil and dye then cool to about 110 or 120 and pour, everyone is different) and test a bunch of different methods, see what works.

    Good luck and have fun!!

  6. Making some candles for my Mom, she's been gone away to work since April and gets home next Sunday. I'm thinking about hawaiian ginger and maybe butt naked. Other than that, I'll be making a life sized blue puppy from bristol board and finishing some dog ears and giant paw prints for Skye's 3rd birthday party next Saturday. Also have some students coming to study for finals today. Should be a full weekend.

  7. Would you mind if I copy your idea? I just found out today that my sons friends mom has breast cancer. From what I understand, its not going well for her, so I would love to give her something like this. Althought I dont know her very well..she may really love it.

Absolutely!! This candle isn't for sale or anything, I made it as a gift for a friend's grandmother who is going through treatment right now.

Thanks for the tip on the cookie cutters! They're perfect, and they would definately save a ton of work!

I LOVE the pink ribbon tins, holy crap, they look amazing! Were the ribbon embeds purchased, or did you make them yourself?

I am trying another method soon, I would much prefer to attach the ribbon inside the jar so that you could see both the ribbon embed and the label when the candle is closed. Also, I had to off center the wick just slightly before the repour in order to fit the ribbon on top, the idea of a hole through the center didn't occur to me until after the wax was completely set. I have a ton of ideas, I just need to find the time to experiment!!

  8. Here is the pink ribbon candle I made last night. Poured a thin layer of pink (turned out almost red) paraffin and used a sharp tipped knife to cut out the ribbon. Poured the pink soy, scented angel wings, then laid the ribbon on top and filled in. The plan was to adhere the ribbon to the inside of the jar so it would show on front but it didn't work out. I do have a plan for the next time though, so trial and error. The tag reads "Hope and faith and all good things are brought to us on Angel Wings".

  9. I just did some bavarian thin mint jars (posting them shortly) and I made the wax embed for my pink ribbon candle, which I am going to pour tonight or tomorrow. I would also like to try some of the butterscotch vanilla cream I just got over the weekend. Still testing jars for wicking and pouring a ton of oils to see what I like best.

Birthday party with Skye tomorrow, then some shopping, then we're going to see a movie together tomorrow evening. Mommy works all week so Sat and Sun are all about Skye!!

  10. I got some paraffin recently, too and am not sure what type it is. The description you gave is almost exactly like what I have, though. I tried some votives with 1 pound wax, 1 ounce oil and it bled oil and mottled like crazy. I now add between 4 and 5% FO and 0.1 oz vybar 103 per pound and am getting really nice votives with a really smooth finish and great scent throw, no mottling (although I kinda liked the mottled look, just not what I wanted). Here's a pic, one octagon pearberry and a standard blueberry, unwicked:

  11. There is definitely a huge difference in FO quality from company to company. My main favs are Just Scent, Peak, Millcreek, Nature's Garden, Greenleaf, Candle Science. You just have to get sample packs and try a lot of Fos to find the ones that work well for you in your application.

I've been buying up tons of 1 and 2 oz oils in the classifieds. I've gotten a bunch of different oils from several suppliers and the shipping is only actual. It's a great way to test a bunch. I am a BIG fan of the classifieds!! Bought from some very nice people, very accomodating.
