  1. I just received my test assortment from Peaks. I ordered HTP,LX,Zinc Core and Cotton Core sample packs. I am going to walmart this morning and get the square glass containers. They are the middle size red ones pictured in the containers Basic Instructions Link. They measure three inches on the top and I am using CB30 a paraffin/soy mix. They question I have is what wick size would use suggests I start with. I always seem to go to low and it doesn't burn and waste the whole container of wax.

I am also going to attempt votive in Dixie cups using CB5!

Heres to my crazy weekend of testing!:P:yay:

You all have been so much help!

    Thank You

  2. I had a request for this scent. It is actually wasabi/ginger. I guess she smelled it from one of the the chains. Has anyone ever seen this type of scent?

    Thanks Everyone.

  3. Does citronella FO work the same as EO?? I was going to do the combination of citronella and lemon-grass in FO but was also thinking about adding eucalyptus and lavender? Any thoughts on this? One person I talked to thought lavender would attract bugs.

If I use the citronella FO oil would I have to use special wicks?

    Thanks Everyone

  5. I have search here and google and I can't find any games to play at my party. I did find the Left/Right game and seems really cute but it is at my house this time. I am going nuts trying to find some good ice-breaker games! Please help me!

    Thanks everyone

  6. Thank You everyone! I searched on the boards all yesterday to find a good and close place to get some Paraffin votive/pillar wax(trying to save on shipping). I am completely lost and a bit overwhelmed at this point. I read so much about different waxes I don't even know where to begin looking now. It gets frustrating when you finally think you mastered something and then you find out you didn't!

Everyone on here has been supper! Thank you so much

  7. Yes I just did the water thing and it spattered all over! I haven't tried spraying with a little cooking spray. I am a little scared that it will explode! The wax is a soy/paraffin mix. I am going to see if the local craft store has bees wax so I can try that.

I just want to make it easy for my customers to get it out of their wax burner.

  8. The wax is from Swans I live in Washington and so far haven't found any other wax that is reasonable to ship here. I do like the wax for containers(CB30). Just not sure about the mold(CB10)wax with all the divots maybe that is a thing that happens with Mold wax?

I don't mind working to get the wax out of my burner. I am more worried that if is a pain for my customer to get it out they won't buy it. Before I got into making them myself and would buy them from the Big company. I would just put them in the freezer and they would pop-out after 10 minutes.

P.S. Just tried a drop of water and that didn't work!

  9. I made one batch of tarts using cb-30. They turned out great a little soft but great scent throw. I did a test burn in my tea-light burner and after I was done I let it get hard again so i could get it out. Well I couldn't get it out! I even put it in the freezer for an hour and it still wouldn't come out. So then I tried CB10 and they turned out ugly and full of divots(is this normal). So I didn't even test burn because I wouldn't sell them like that. So I decided to mix the two waxes. Turned out great but still can't the darn things out of the tart burner. Here are my questions can I spray the holder with a little cooking spray? Maybe put in a few drops of water so there is a little barrier between the wax and burner? Something I can add the the wax so it doesn't stick? I would love any help or suggestions

  10. I love to burn just the Fo oils. I used to buy them from local stores until I started buying them and making tarts and candles. Just to be safe I email a couple different companies to see if it was ok to burn just the FO oils with a little water in a tea-light burner. One response was yes it was fine and I got 3 responses saying no I need to mix it with DPG because of the flash-point. When I used the DPG it smoked really bad. Wouldn't adding the water in the the burner change the flash-point? I am really confused and want to be safe.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  11. This is my first time posting under the "Whats in your pot"! Tonight I did my first batch of tarts using CB10 and they looked really bad all divoty and pot-holes! So I mixed my container wax with it and they look much better! I figure since they are just tarts I can test burn tomorrow and if they actually releases from my tart burner and have a good throw I will be making a batch of

    Black Cherry Bomb

    lemon-grass

    Citronella

    lavender

    lavender Vanilla

    Thanks everyone

    I really enjoy this Board!

  12. I have been looking all over for wholesale candle accessories. Like tart burners, Lanterns, votive holders. Stuff more on the decorative side like the bigger candle companies carry. I am doing more of a home party business so I would like to add this to my product line but can only find regular priced items or ones that aren't well made.

    Any Help would be appreciated!

    Thanks Everyone.

  13. I burn a lot of tarts and oils. Sometimes mine will smoke a little more if I am using a new tea-light. There is usually always a Little steam/smoke if you look close, I think it is a mixture of the tea-light and just the FO release. I just decided to use the clam shells and when I got mine today I just had to laugh!! I thought each breakaway piece would be the size if a normal tart. Instead i get this little tiny tart container that I was originally going to charge $6.00 each. I have to rethink that!

  14. sorry I meant to say I use 1oz in the first and 2oz in the second batch, (not 1% and 2%)I just got done burning a tart I made from the same batch of Buttercream and it smells really good. So it must be that the wick isn't burning hot enough. I can't find the LX wicks on Swans site. What are Balmorals and Pitas?

  15. Hi Everyone!

I am testing my 3rd wax Swans CB 30. They are in the same state as me so I figured I really needed to try them. I did a search and only found people using CB3and CB2. I love the look of the wax in the containers. It is very soft and silky and was truly a one pour. The first container I added 1%fragrance oil (buutercream from NG) and got very little hot throw and it took about two hours to get it. The second container I did 2% FO (clean from NG) Still not much of a hot throw. Both candles seem to burn beautiful and even. I used the zinc core for the 2-3inch container. I didn't use any additives either since it said it didn't need any. Has anyone used this wax or have any suggestions.

    Thanks All

    Suzanne

    Happy Easter!
