  1. Sorry I didnt realize I posted this yesterday, when I got on this morning this post was still sitting in the box like it was unposted. 🤦‍♀️ Nighlight gave great feedback, I will work with one vessel at a time, so its no as overwhelming. Thank you.
  2. Hello, I just purchased a bunch of different vessels and am hoping some of the more experienced memebers may be able to give me some advice on which wicks to start testing with. I tried searching the forum to see if these were previously discussed, I found one but it was a different wax then I use. Im not very good with navigating this site yet so hope my post isnt a repeat of others.. I use 464, and 10%FO I realize that the type of FO will alter the wicks used just hoping for a baseline to start with. Sitting here staring at the vessels and the wick guide from CS is overwhelming... Ok so the 22oz Libbey apothecary jar 31oz Libbey apothecary jar 22oz Libbey cylinder jar 14oz Libbey bowl 20.5 Libbey Status - trying CD10,12, &14. Almost done testing, the 14 is preforming the best but there is some mushrooming and a small amount of soot, well all 3 wicks had mushrooming and some soot, jar temp is 133f on the CD14. Where do I go from here? Have some HTP, Ecos, and some of Aztecs wicks on the way. Any suggestions for starting points would be greatly appreciated! 🙂
  3. So this may be way off topic, but I read that adding stearic acid to my soy wax would harden it. I just ordered some to try it out in my molds, if im reading the post correctly this is going to make my molds look like palm wax candles?

  5. Aztec only allowed one order per household during the sale.
  6. Im really glad I found this forum! Thanks for all the advice, im going to order some ECO wicks now.
  7. I feel like ill spend the rest of my life testing candles. Thank you for your feed back, Im going to give Eco wicks a try and start over...
  8. TallTaly im sorry I just saw your response, what series wicks do you think I should try? I purchased the 20.5 oz status jars and am having difficulty wicking them as well, tried the CD10,12, &14. The 14 is causing soot the 10&12 are leaving behind residue all are mushrooming to some extent. I followed another users instructions with the 12oz status, CD12s worked out really well for the little vessel guess I was hoping the same would be true for the larger. I am using GB464, 10%FO, stopped using dyes.
  9. Thank you, I did end up wicking the the rest of my jars with the CD14s and backed down to 10% on FO. The rest of my scents are great at 10% and past bottles of baja cactus blossom have done fine at 10% not sure whats up with this bottle.
  10. I am using 464, 12% FO, and the embossed jar from the dollar tree, this jar is just under 4in in diameter on the inside. CD20s were way to big, so im testing a CD14 & CD16 currently. I am on my 4th 4hr burn and im confused by the results. The candle on the right is the CD16 it is not reaching full melt on one side, the CD14 is melting to the sides but leaving a slight residue. Each burn I have had to clip the wick due to some mushrooming. Why is the smaller wick preforming better? I know I didnt confuse the wicks when I poured they are marked on the bottoms. I used 12% because the Baja cactus blossom I purchased from Aztec has hardly and scent at all.
  11. After cooling for the day I lit this candle again, it still smelled good so figured Id burn it even though thanks to the replies I know to definitely wick down on my next trys. This time the MP was only a few mm deep and my wicks struggled to stay lit. One burned out completely but once relit stayed lit until I finally put it out. This confuses me, any idea why that happened, complete opposite from the first burn. I just ordered CD4,6,&7s, any suggestions on what wick I should try on the next burn test? Will still be using 464, 12% FO same 4inch glass vessel. Im very new to candle making so any help would be appreciated!
  12. Im using GB 464, 12% FO strawberry and Guava, 3 CD8 wicks in a 4 inch round straight side jar. I reached a 1/2 inch melt pool at 1 hour 15 mins, maintained until 2 hour mark. 2-4 hour mark MP went slightly over 1/2 inch but only by 2 millimeters, this was first 4 hour burn test. Should I wick down? Unfortunately I don't know how to attach a picture.
