TexasBrat, you know better...
Anyway, yes, I do wear my goggles. I put them on before I reach up to the top shelf to grab my lye. Then I keep them on until I carry the lye water over to an unused corner of my shop and set it down on the concrete to cool. Only after I remove my gloves (that my have some lye on them) do I remove the goggles.
Then I weigh everything, melt the oils etc. When it's time to go pick up the lye, the goggle so on once again.
I don't take them off until I have the soap in the mold and all tucked in for the night.

If you find your dream biscotti please let me know - I've been trying to find a replacement for Solas' Brooklyn Biscotti... (for soap too).
Sigh.
Oh, that one was yummy. I may have an ounce left, if I'm lucky.

I forgot to say, I'm no good at renaming so I just offered colors. Hey Scented, all you get from me is color...Hehehehe...Get it?

You Go Girl Pink, Purple, Orange
Hot Flash Red, Red, Red, Black
Tease Blue (as in balls)
Picasso Similar to GG's Acid Trip
Stardust Gold and Silver in a white base
I don't have any idea for the rest of them

Thank Meridith, what do you use for the tubes, the big one almost looks like it came out of a paper towel roll.

The FO's eat through the plastic, regardless of type of use. There is no difference between tart FO and Candle FO...KWIM?
-
I gave away my black portion cups because as they sat, the FO's ate through the plastic and they all stuck together. It was a big gooey mess.
That is a perfect example of long term testing. After 5 months, the cups failed. How long do those clear ones hold up to the FO's?

Check TKB Trading. They carry lots of the FD&C and D&C stuff.
Here's one, FD&C Red 40 Alum Lake. I don't know if it's the same one SoapFreak was talking about or not.

No third eye. You should be ok but next time mix your lye in a well ventilated area away from pets, kids and husbands.
I don't know how to make lye out of wood ash, there are website that can teach you. If you're afraid of the jar stuff, I wouldn't suggest you make your own. You'd never know the exact strength.
I do believe you can use Roebic but you should do a search on the name. I've seen it posted many times, you should be able to find that answer easy enough.
-
Do you have it posted at the Dish? If so, can we have a link? Is that against the TOS, anyone? You can post a link to your own stuff, right?
-
I mix 4627 with soy but I use HTP wicks.

Test burns aren't good enough. I know you are new but you need to understand this. Every single jar must be thorougly tested for each FO, each color. Every single combo. This can not be stressed enough. Making candles isn't a joke, it isn't a get rich quick scheme. Fire is dangerous. You may not think so but ask anyone that has had a candle burn down a home. My neighbor across the street burned her house down because of a bad candle. This is serious. We spend $1000's of dollars to perfect our craft and we take offense to people that think they can make a nice looking product and then sell it after just a few test burns. This site is here to teach others how to make candles but also the safety behind making and selling candles.
IMO, you have a lot to learn.

OK, if no one else is going to jump in here, it might as well be me.
You are brand new to candle making, on December 6th you posted you were new and asked about soy wax. Here it is, two months later and you have an entire line of at least 5 different jars in several different colors and combinations of colors.
I just have to ask. Have you thoroughly tested every jar in every scent and color combo? Do you have your insurance lined up yet?

My recipe has RBO, coconut, babassu, lard, PKO and Castor. Along with SL and Tussah Silk.
It comes out that color every time.

I've never used TD in soap. I have some and I swear one day I'm going to but I can never find it when I want it. LOL
-
Mine didn't have milk in it, Scented, just FYI. Also, forgot to mention, I use 1oz PPO and that bar I posted in the other thread is over a year old and the scent is still good.
-
Yep, RBO.
-
Scented, sorry I didn't see this thread until just now. Here's a picture of OM Goddess in my CP recipe. I don't use Olive Oil. Hope this helps. It moves a little faster than some FO's but not much.

Anything new? Are the sites up yet? What's up?
-
I would ask that supplier for an ingredient list and/or an MSDS sheet. Just to be sure of the ingredients.
-
I would definately get more votive cups. I have over 50 of them, I just can't find them right now. I put them away and can't remember where...LMAO

My neice is whiz at HTML, when I'm ready for a site, I'll have her make it for me. This is a bunch of shit, really.

Do you wear safety goggles for soaping?
