  1. I do several home parties but I do not book them for August and Early Sept due to slow sales. I usually get kicked back off mid Sept to end of Sept. Kids go back to school and college and then you have parents paying that money and trying to get back to routines it just is not a good month. I would try again when it gets mid Sept to first of Oct. Good Luck!

  2. Congrats to you!!!!!!! I know how it feels to be like that sometimes and then the unexpected happens...lol

The same thing with us last year and they ran a huge feature in our local newspaper on the front page of the Section we were in and then on the front page of newspaper....they even came and took photos of me working one day and of my mom cp soap curing. It was pretty cool. When it runs get it laminated. We did that and at shows we do (which we are only doing 2 this year too much other stuff) we have it framed and displayed.

CONGRATS!!!! I hope things pick up for you!!!!!

  3. When I first started with my candle making I used wick stickums and I had trouble with some coming up so I just got the hot glue gun out went and got a bunch of BIG bags of sticks and I 3 yrs later I am still using the glue gun and I have 4 sticks left of last bag...LOL I hate to think how many I used now..

Anyway I love the glue gun and it cheap way to go.. Good luck

  4. on my Candle parties that are drop in at the bottom sort of small I always list what i accept. When I did my open house last year in Oct I did invite called a drop and shop party. I listed at the bottom once again that I accepted checks, cash, and most major credit cards. I just made it smaller so it did not stick out like a sore thumb. I think people liked that because i had a couple of ladies say they were glad to know I accepted cc before hand. That is just my thoughts on it though

  5. Hello all!

Went to this trendy store about an hour from here in a bigger town. They have a store with handmade jewlery, art, pottery, and other little stuff. They do alot of stuff for consignment and already have a line of candles they sell when they went to market. I smelled and took one with me nothing handmade. Anyway, the told me they would like to do consignement with me and that they would display right out front. They said they would prefer for me to bring a inventory of the candles on disc to add to their inventory so that if anything is lost or missing when it is time that they will know. They do 20% on anything that sales and also they do a trunk show for people and sponsor them. He said that they would do one for me in November he would send invitations to all customers and have wine and cheese and I would be the highlighted event. I have never done consignment and was wondering if anyone else had stuff. He also is interested in our soaps he does have some in there but it is Glycerin and he would love some of out CP soap. He said people go crazy of LOCAL stuff. Also asked for baskets too at holiday time. I just was trying to find out if any did that and how that did for you as well as the percentage he has said.

    Thanks

  6. Thanks so much for your comments! I have carried the jj now for about 3 1/2 years with my apothecarys of course but I am soooo ready for a little change. I,( and I am admitting something here LOL) bought one from a festival I went to as a shopper not vendor from a candle maker. I love doing that so I can just see what else people are making out there anyway....

I thought it was the cutest jar and had the most personality!

    Thanks!

  7. I have a question for those of you that use the 8oz square mason jars. I have always used the 8 oz crystal jj and they sell wonderful for me but those square mason are just too cute. I am not thinking of changing but would not mind making some and just seeing how my customers like them and go from there. They sure are cheaper than what I have been buying mine for. I have read on a lot of posts that some of you had trouble with wicking them. I use 223 and zinc wicks with my jj so I am going to start with appx same wick and test there but was just curious about trouble you all have had what is the pain with these?

  8. I read the wholesaling 101 but today I went into a new store local here and they wanted some of my candles. I only showed today because I was not expecting to be hit with this, the 8 oz jelly size which I sell for 6. Anyway she liked them and wanted more. Fine I know my cost and all but my question is what do you do for a packet? What do you include? I am curious as to what I should offer. I want to do by the case but do you mix and match? DO you offer the display stand? I have to present her with something next week for her to decide if she wants them or not.

    Thanks for inputs or directions!

  9. I do candle parties matter of fact I am getting ready right this second for one tonight. I do a "drop and shop" and tonight we are doing a "drop and shop Christmas in July". I have a lot of old stock I am taking marked down and then i am taking most of my new stock. People like to shop and drop and they have a cool glass of tea, lemonade or wine to shop around with. I am doing it at my aunt's house and it is from 6-9. All the parties I do I try to have stock for them to be able to cash and carry and they LOVE that! I have many people tell me they buy more when they can go home with their products than to order and wait for it. I do a small presentaion to each groups. They all gather in groups to smell candles so i will mingle in the groups and talk about the candles and bath products and that is it. They ask q's and that seems to be all that it takes. I love candle parties better than Crafts shows because I have made more money and more repeat customers. It is always laid back and usually the time and the shop and drops people like more so they can either stop and go home and do dinner, kids and etc or do that 1st and then come shop. Anyway good luck!

  10. I just wanted to post that I did put them back in the freezer for an extra 30 minutes and they seem to be fine now. I then had to try one and it was FABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!! I then sent one to my mom's co worker she and my mom are the CP soap queens around here (11 years and going strong) and she has tried to make Bombs before and that is exactly what they did BOMBED. So I sent some to her to try and critque for me! SHE LOVED THEM! She said just be careful getting out of tub but she did not want to even dry her skin with a towel because she said she wanted to keep that smooth soft feeling!@

BUNNYYYYYY THANK YOUUUUUUUU for this EASYYYYY wonderful recipe for Bath Melts!

  11. I made a batch of Bath Melts per the recipe by Bunny and after 30 minutes in freezer they were firm so I removed from freezer. I checked them 30 minutes after that and they were getting all mushy again. I have them back in the freezer. I was wondering is this normal or what?

Also how soon are they ready for use? I plan to test but wanted to know if I should wait a few days or a week?
