1. I charged $10 for the ones I made last year and sold everyone I made!
2. I have used the 4 oz jellies before but the cost of them is outrageous. I used to use 8 oz quilted jellies and switched to the mason jars because of the price difference. I just was curious if there is a 4oz mason jar out there!
3. I was asked to do some small jars for a person to buy and use in her giveaways at her salon. I would love to find some 4oz mason jars somewhere out there. Does anyone know where i might could find some that size? Thanks
4. I ordered a gallon last night can not wait for it to get here. I wanted to add some lotion besides body butter to my line. I love their lip balm so thought their lotion base should be good too!! Thanks for the input. Also does it have a greasy feel to it. You know some lotions tend to be "greasy" after effect!
5. I have been browsing around lotion looking. Has anyone tried BCN's Lotion base? Just some input would be nice! Thanks
6. Hey all I had my Holiday open house this past sunday went pretty well. I have a open house at Day spa and Salon this Saturday and A LOT of orders to fill this week and next week and one more fundraiser to pack out this week! WHEW! Is it Christmas yet? I think next year if it is even remotely this crazy I will have to have a helper! Anyway here are some pics..... This was our 1st holiday open house in our new shop! We are loving this shop! Best of all it is ours no overhead. Paid for! and the electric bill has been pretty darn cheap lately! EVERYTHING is handamde in here. The one with the Christmas Tree is all handmade ornaments a lady made for me. It is Santas, Snowmen, and Reindeer made from Lightbulds. There are also Shotgun shells decorated likes Santas with burlap hats and all! THEY WERE TOO CUTE and boy did she sell them cheap! 7. I have a Dell 3010cn laser printer and I love mine. Prints really great and fast as well. The only problem I have is I KEEP USING TOO MUCH INK! But i guess that is a good thing though it means I have candles and soap needed labeling!
8. I have been looking for some good ones for lip balms. I ordered some before from BCN and they were good not really sweet and I like that. I noticed some of you have found some holiday ones too! So if you do not mind sharing I would appreciate it!
9. I am almost out of lip balms and will be making more because they are selling like hotcakes around here now. I only made 2 kinds wild watermelon and green apple. The wild watermelon went very well green apple a little slow. I really like the fact they were not overly sweet they just had a little taste and a little smell. I wondered what are some other good selling scents I can order and make. I am having open house in 2 weeks and am trying to restock my shop.
10. Today was the Holiday Festival at the winery. They invite only certain vendors and this was my 4th time as vendor. I usually do pretty well but today was really great... We did close to $600 paid $50 for booth. Tomorrow I have a candle party so all in all a great weekend thus far. Time of year is here because like some other shows people were ready to buy today!
11. i always have sales tax added into my products!
12. I too depending on the show usually my mom goes or my sister. I keep my candles in Tubs but that is heaving have tubs of cases of candles. I found 2 carts at a home store and it happened to have a coupon sale and got them both for $20. They are wonderful for caring that stuff. I am still so tired after a show just the getting ready and getting set up and tearing down and also just the mental. BUT I LOVE THE PEOPLE AND MY CANDLES AND SOAP so it makes it all worth it. I have mastered the tent thing so I can just whip it up no time.
13. Looks great! I know I love when I can have people come to the house and shop and make just as much as haulin that stuff to shows! GOOD JOB!
14. I am sure there are those out there who can give you more pointers on the wholesale thing as this is my 1st year in that dept. But I make them buy at least $150 of product minium for start up. They can pick scents from list given. I do not make them choose a number of certain scents they take my order form and fill out the # number desired of certain scents. They keep that order list and next order they can change up. For fundraiser I let them choose their scents I tell them 6 scents but I am doing one that choose 8 scents. If they are new accts I suggest best sellers which are always a mix of Holidays and fruits and clean because not everyone wants all Holidays. The accts that have sold before they know what they want and what sells for them. Which most do 3 of each type. 3 holiday and 3 others. Good Luck!
15. HOLY MOOLY IS ALL I CAN SAY!!! Each year it gets crazier. I picked up a new wholesale acct today so I have that order to fill. In addition a wholesale customer that is IN LOVE with my candles decided she would help a friend out with her booth at a craft show this friday and next friday and they bought several cases of candles and will be selling them. THANK GOODNESS I AM NOT DOING THAT CRAFT SHOW! They are doing it for me! I have 3 fundraisers and I have to get their packets out to them next week and I have one show left on the 18th of November. In addition to getting the orders filled for the fundraisers which I always start a head of time. I also just opened my shop and I have 2 more candle parties booked. I have another place that ordered 120 candles for their employ baskets. Actually I do that for 3 other companies. And orders out the WAZOO already placed for christmas orders. i think I will stop here because I am starting to freak out as I read this.... I think I need to log off and go make candles...lol SOOOOO Happy holiday! And I am going to the race this weekend in ATLANTA so no candles this weekend!
16. Thank You all for looking a posting comments! We are loving it since we have been able to open the shop! Also nice to open and not have the debt from building the shop! Of course now keeping it full of candles and soap plus keeping orders filled and fundraisers going it is keeping us busy! Thanks though for looking off to work on labels!
17. Of course the food table and the outside. We have to still paint the outside but we have not had a chance to do that yet. This has been a slow work in progress with the inside. Doing it all ourselves and not taking a loan out just money from our own pockets.
18. Well we finally opened our shop and held open house this weekend. Did really well and it was soooo nice to clean up our mess and close the doors for the day. We are right in the back yard. We still have one more show though but it is a private show at a winery. Here are some pics from shop... Those of the soaps are a old table a friend of my mom's gave her that was her mothers. The old cheese box was my grandmothers and the wash pan was found at a estate sale. The towels are handmade by my grandmother. Nothing in our shop is not anything other than handmade. All of our displays are given to us or found at junk shops or something! Of course in the back is storage and the potters wheel which we hope to have time for it to get the pottery made next. But the soaps and candles keep me and mom pretty busy right now! The rest of the shop is counters and stoarge. All the cabinets and counter tops came from my uncle who owns a cabinet shop it was all scraps he gave to us.
19. Hey to all... I have a question we have been approached about someone buying our soaps wholesale for their store. I am curious what should be charged. Bars weigh appx 3.5oz to 4.2 oz and I sell them retail $3.50 a bar. I am just curious as to what maybe some of you charge. People around here are just getting into the CP soaps so it is exciting they want this instead of the M&P soaps!!! This is our 10th year of making soaps so we are glad people are coming back for more!
20. The sign no one seemed to have a problem with the strings or how it hung. My sister helped me with this show and usually when mom does it with me we hang it different. Also the people behind us were so close to us they had a sign and it bumped our tent! But thanks for this advise that is why I posted!! Also the riser we think it needs something. We just changed to these jars so this is the 1st time we have used these jars on this riser. I think we are going to do something a little different next week with it! The soaps are my ours and then my cousin also does soap but she uses a few different ingredients. She was a farmers daughter all her life and her brother and husband they are peanut farmers so she uses a peanut oil base. It helps to have a variety. Ours is Olive oil base and around here we are trying to educate people on CP soap! It is slowly picking up
21. Last two I think that does it there
22. This is my set up from about 2 weeks ago just go around to getting pics off camera.
23. It is an outside show Sat and Sun. I plan to set up tent Friday night. It is about 30 min from the house. I talked to the coordinator and she said security would be around but to be on the safe side take my product home and my tent and tables would be fine. I am South Ga and the weather is upper 80's mostly during the day and a little cool in the evenings. Also they sent me a letter today and they will bring breakfast on Sat morning and they will bring dinner to us in the evening. Show is 9-5 Sat and 12-4 Sunday. Thanks!
24. Hey all! I am just looking for some opinions or input. I have done shows for the past 3 or 4 years but around here not a lot of 2 day shows. SO this year they have made a good show (or so I have been told) into a 2 day event this year. I am going to be a vendor this year. One other candlemaker no soaps or body stuff and it is supposed to be juried. I just wanted to know what to expect with a 2 day show. I plan to go up night before and set up tent and tables and then the next days set up all products and leave tent and tables over night just take products with me. I am assuming it is just like a 1 day show just back to back. But sometimes with you that do 2 and 3 days shows you have inside knowledge of something I know I am forgetting!
25. I have a 10 yr old in school until 4 and a 2 yr old not in school. I found a lady that keeps 2 yr old part time so the days he goes I pour like crazy in my shop. then at night I sit and do labels and what not. When he is there and if I need to pour he has a corner with colors paper tv movies everything. He stays content while I work. I have always somehow managed to find a way to work with my candles and such with kids.
