  1. My show today was HOT AND GNATS EVERYWHERE HUMID HUMID HUMID!!

But I did great 7x booth fee. My feet hurt I do not think I sat down for a soild 10 minutes. I bought something to eat and ended up throwing away it got cold and I just was to busy to eat. Lot's of candles sold several soaps 1/2 of my firestarters and a few lip balms.

I was burning Amish Harvest since it was 1st day of Fall today and I sold ALOT of that 1!! 2nd best seller Fruit Slices and Pumpkin pie tied.

    I will post pics later!

  2. I have a show this weekend we have a 30% chance of rain here. It is the Plains Peanut Festival with Ex Pres Jimmy Carter. We are the ONLY soap and candle vendors going. It was a juried show or at least my app said it was. It is 10th year and MR Planter Peanut is 100 this year and he will be there. So I hope turn out will be good and that it does not rain. Either way I have my EZ up!

  3. Hello!

Has anyone ordered from them for their crates? How long does it take to get your orders? I ordered last week and have not heard from them about my order. They stated they would send email with total but I have heard nothing. I have emailed them today and waiting on reply. Just curious.

  5. Luci,

I saw in the window of display and it is HUGE and they have a little shop too. I thought DANG they better sell alot of candles. Then I saw mine sitting on the shelf next to that display....I thought handmade right in town and then this big ole thing made in Iowa not handmade.. :tongue2:

  6. Well today went into the new store that opened up. They bought 2 cases of my candles, 8oz Square masons, a few weeks ago. Last week they went to market and this week they came in with a HUGE display of Beanpod Candles. I had not really heard of them before but figured they must be something similar to Yankee...

Just curious what anyone thought about these. I am going in there next week to pick up some aprons they are making for me. i am going to check it out and how much they cost.

  7. Well got my fundraiser order in today. 1st one of the season. 12 kids elementary. I sold the 10 oz apothecary and the 16 oz apothecary. They sold close to 200 candles. They profitted for their group right at $1000. I was happy with the turn out. This is the 1st one I have done for this school system. I have been steady pouring to be ahead have most of the order filled EXCEPT FRUIT SLICES!!!! Peaks is out of stock since I have tried to order. I could use someone else but I just love peaks so I will wait.

Anyway thanks for letting me ramble

  8. Last year I was in the area newspaper about our candles and soaps and we LOVED IT! We got some business from it but the girl came to the shop and talked with both me and my mom about our business. We were pleased and then her photographer came and took photos of our shop and things. So go for it FREE MARKETING!

  9. Yep noticed today my candles are just sitting on a shelf against the wall along with some other stuff...not sure if they are just out of room or what...but you know I have been paid and if they do not want to sell them that is their business.

I do know that what kinda got off with me today was on the counter by the register was sitting 2 jelly jars. No name or label in the bottom was a warning label and a sticker with the scent. No name or number of who made them.

So I opened them wicks crooked, top of one candle was crumbling looking, one looked like parrafin I think. I know it was not soft wax like mine. One was love spell and colored purple on the bottom was purple spots where color was not mixed well. Scent was faint not as strong as what I am accustomed to. Anyway was not impressed with it.

    Anyway whatever!

  10. I had a local gift store open 2 months ago and they wanted my candles. I offered them my square masons and they bought about 50 from me. They are the only local place that has my candles. Anyway, today they left for market and told a customer they were opening a big space for a display of candles from a company that is a soy bean candle. She said she is not getting my candles out but wanted to try them.

I do not care one way or the other but wondered if those of you that do wholesale do these stores offer other candles perhaps by a commerical company?

  11. Hey!

I made my 1st lip balms this week. I made a total of 100. 50 green apple

    50 wild watermelon.

I want to know what is next. I know I have to do my labels and all but do any of you do the shrink wrap on your tubes? I have not ordered any but wanted some for a show this month and was curious as to what else I needed to do to have them ready to go!

  12. I do not do lip balms but if someone called me with candles like that.

I would do the cost for making them and mark up some. See the difference in what you have there and then selling them for your $1. Also something else you could consider ask the dentist if he would like to have on the label his name. Like you have especially made for DR.DENTIST Blah blah. If that be the case he may be willing to pay any extra with out a discount.

    Good Luck

  13. Hey ya'll!! Well with the season coming up and shows I wanted to know if any of you have tshirts or something for your business that you wear? We will be also opening our own store and thought it would be nice to have a shirt with our name on it. I have thrown around ideas even buying shirts and having them embroiderd with our names on the front pocket area. Just trying to get some ideas!

  14. First off let me just say I AM SORRY that you are having to go back and redo!! BEEN THERE!!

I never did inventory either and things we so unorganized, but we just have moved into our new shop and hope to open in a few weeks! When I say WE I mean this is a mother-daughter venture. My mom makes the CP soap and has for about 11 years and I am the candle maker and the soap maker in training. We have talked about this and talked about this and now we are opening. ANYWAY! This past weekend as we moved in and set I started taking inventory and I used excel and started some spread sheets and stuff like that where I can keep track of things in the shop with ordering and merchandise. It has NOT been easy as we have not been organized like this for 3 yrs until now. I think though that once it is all done and we are settled in that it will be really easy to keep up and will defintely be a plus in our expenses and profit. I can say it will not be easy but you are going to have to CRACK down on your worker because she may be in a rut as well as stubborn in this is her way she does things......But that way you are not losing money on ordering things when you already have it. I know I am not telling you anything you do not already know but sometimes you just need to vent! GOOD LUCK!
